For those with limited kitchen space this is probably a very useful gadget for cutting a variety of food up fast. It wouldn’t do huge amounts at a time, so you are looking at nuts, garlic, herbs, ginger etc. Not sure it would either cope with a carrot of you would be able to have enough force to cut it as its a manual task – pushing down from the top. It does save time, even if it is a little bit extra to wash at the end of cooking. If you do a lot of baking or create seasoning than this might be a useful thing to have in the kitchen.

This is useful for chopping items that are already small, such as nuts but is less effective with bigger items. You put items in the little container that attaches to the end (it holds a maximum of 75ml volume) – great for keeping small things in place for chopping. (i’ve also used it without the container part, to try and chop things that are bigger than the container, but it’s not really designed to be used like this and it doesn’t necessarily stay together using it like this. )it’s pretty good but mine does keep sticking occasionally at the bottom of a plunge and needs a little wiggle or knock to release it. It won’t chop things into a regular shape or size, so it’s not for precision chopping, but it does make fast work of things like nuts. Things like dried fruit can tend to get stuck on the blades and make the rest of the chopping less effective. Not an essential item in the kitchen, handy for what it does but i wouldn’t buy one – it’s just a quick to chop with a chopping knife and the knife is easier to clean afterwards. Hier sind die Spezifikationen für die Zyliss Zick-Zick 2 Stainless Steel Food Chopper –:

  • Chops a wide range of vegetables, nuts, chocolate and hard cheese
  • Stainless steel blade rotates with each chop giving smooth, even chopping
  • Material: Plastic, Stainless Steel

Manual chopper – perfect for nuts. This is a neat little manual food chopper – which for me will almost solely be used for chopping small quantities of nuts, as when i use my food processor, i find it difficult to chop small quantities to the size i want without overchopping and when i chop by hand, bits ping off in all directions. This chopper has a small chopping cup, with measures of 25, 50 and 75ml on one side or 1/10, 1/5 or 1/3 cup on the other side, which is useful if your recipe calls for a volume of chopped nuts (or other ingredient). You don’t have to use the cup – you can just use this straight onto a chopping board, but i like using the cup and keeping the chopped contents contained. The chopper is easy to use, pushing downwards on the rubber top, it is a bit smaller than the palm of my hand and whilst it is easy enough to push down with one hand, it feels very natural with one hand on top of the other to push down in a regular rhythm and with the zigzag blade, it chops quickly and easily, wiping any bits left on the blade off as you release the pressure and the top pops back up. It is easy to use and fairly easy to clean – although i found that the wiper blade a little tricky to reinsert after washing, but once you know how it fits, it’s just a case of getting it in the right position to lock it back in place. This is a useful gadget, perhaps not a kitchen essential, but useful nonetheless.

A small hand-driven mechanical chopper. The zig-zag blades rotate with each press of the top, resulting in a quick and easy way to chop small quantities of herbs or spices, perhaps. It would suit someone with arthritis who can’t do this with a knife any more. It’s about the size of a coffee mug – and looks a bit like one too, now i mention it. The bottom part is where the stuff goes that you want chopped- it has a very small capacity – 75ml, or 1 third of a cup, is it’s largest marked measure line. It’s a good quality product, which is easy to clean – but it’s still much easier for me to just do it on a chopping board. Good points:+ build quality – although made from plastic, it avoids looking or feeling cheap. The top of the plunger is rubberised+ easy to clean – the bottom of the unit folds open, and it all flushes out under the tap. Reassembled in seconds+ safe to use – the blades are out of reach of small hands once the chopper is loadedbad points:- small capacity – i know it’s a mini chopper, but things get to a point where for most of us this would be easier to just do it by hand- slightly pricy, but you get what you pay for.

  • A great tool for chopping very small items
  • Good for arthritic hands.
  • A versatile, well designed little chopper.

A versatile, well designed little chopper. . This product comes complete with an inlay card of instructions which are pretty much fool proof, well illustrated and easy to understand the explain all the component parts of the device. Anyone cooking with garlic, herbs, nuts etc. Would find this very useful as a speedy, convenient alternative to using kitchen knives and chopping boards. Since the food being chopped up in contained within the chamber of the machine it doesnt scatter at all and can be added to whatever recipe it is being used for easily afterwards with minimal mess to the actual work surface. It has safety features including a safety lock and the winged lower body allows for easy and thorough cleaning. It is manually operated, you press down upon the plunger to deploy the blades and cut up the ingredients in the chamber, although it does not require a lot of strength to do so and the alternative of using a knife will require strength and dexterity in any case. So far use has not proven to present any especial problems such as smaller pieces of food becoming lodged higher up in the mechanisms preventing cleaning or making rusting or wear and tear more likely. I should have checked the dimensions first so this is my fault, but it’s so small it’s difficult to clean the blades and you cannot chop too much at the same time, which means the whole task takes longer than with a bigger one. Practical design though and works fine so i can’t complain, just wish i had gone for a bigger one.

I would say though when i am chopping lots of veg i don’t get this out in addition to a chopping board and knife but for the odd. Nifty little gadget, it dies not take up much space and although it can only chop a small amount at a time compared to a knife, it does do a more efficient job than i can manage and also the children can manage to use this. I would say though when i am chopping lots of veg i don’t get this out in addition to a chopping board and knife but for the odd onion or garlic it is nice and easy.

This is a nifty little gadget. It works well, is a handy addition to any kitchen, and would make a nice gift for a gadget loving home chef. The only reason i didn’t give it five stars is because it’s a bit fiddly to clean, but apart from that, it’s a pretty good little piece of kit.

It does what it says – but that’s about it. . Well, it’s a food chopper – but there is little to separate it from other similar gadgets that were about in the 1970s. It’s called a “mini” chopper, and it is certainly small: it will hash a small bunch of herbs, or handful of nits, and does so pretty well. Garlic tends to stick tot he blades, and although there is a cleverish system of opening up the device for cleaning it’s fiddly. The rubberised top is a good feature – making it easy to operate without slipping. However, it’s not earned a place in my kitchen – by the time i’ve fished it out, used it and cleaned it up i could have used my chef’s knife to better effect. So, if your knife-skills are not sharp, or you’re nervous, then fine, the device will work. But i’d still say buy a decent chef’s knife and learn (safely) how to use it.

You can live without one but you’ll find yourself using it all the time. Neat little kitchen near-essential. About the size of a tall water glass and with a small but useful capacity: four shallots, a handful of nuts, six or seven cloves of garlic (should you ever need such an amount)it’s ideal for fine chopping of those fiddly little ingredients, especially nuts. Using it to chop a clove or two of garlic is great because it’s very even and fine, releasing lots of the flavour without transferring intense garlic smell onto your fingers. I’ve found it less successful with herbs but then those are pretty easy to chop manually. Cleans very easily with a neat little hinged door system that opens it all up quickly to allow easy rinsing.
