I am likely to retain this quick and temporary. I can affirm these headphones are superior than the grados, these decide on up subtle specifics that the grados lacked, has a better soundstage. These are straightforward to drive so no want for an amp.

Sensational sound at this rate stage. I have made use of a number of actually excellent headphones which includes sennheiser hd-580’s which enjoy with the big boys in terms of seem performance. Even though i am not a die difficult audiophile by any means, i’ve a first rate plan what excellent telephones seem like. The yamaha’s come with a 2m extension cable, a 6. 3mm gold plated adaptor jack. They are cozy and well built, with very good good quality cable that devoid of the extension is an excellent size for use with a portable player. I plugged them into a computer system asus xonar seem card which i know has a incredibly great snr and substantial quality output for sound. I expended some time actively playing a enormous wide variety of new music variations from significant bass tupac, to michael jackson, elvis, guns n roses, mozart, trad irish, place, some hip hop, rock n roll to jimi hendrix and even some glen miller. The yamaha’s made good sounding bass with superior clarity and presence with no the annoyiing ‘beats’ swamping impact, midtones and treble were being crystal clear and bright but effectively well balanced in just about every style. Channel seperation was superb, and even pushing the eq tricky i couldn’t get any distortion from them at all.

I believe these are very new at the time of producing, are not able to come across lots of other critiques. These were advised to me as being a far better different to a pair of faulty headphones i am returning, so i took a punt and acquired them. They are on the restrict, for me, of getting transportable, larger than the akg-q460s i had, but they have a huge and open soundstage (they are open backed) and the sound is incredibly expansive, as quickly as i heard the very first music i was instantaneously amazed. On my ipod, in conjunction with the ‘equ’ software to tweak seem curves, they have a warm, luxuriant chocolatey audio, surely with modern-day itunes in addition 256kbps tracks (mainly hear to r&b, rihanna, ne-yo, alcia keys etc), bass is wonderful but also treble, midrange and vocals are great as perfectly with nothing at all missing or lacking, all this straight out of the box with no melt away-in period. The depth is amazing and i can not see any authentic depth difference in between these and the grado sr80i headphones i experienced, these are scaled-down and just as very good/much better in my feeling, with a warmer seem and bigger bass. There would seem to be an unbelievable quantity of detail with classical music as properly, way very good more than enough for me, while i am not an qualified in this field. I am listening to janet jackson typing this and she appears like she’s standing future to me whispering into my ear. If you were blind tests these you would think they expense way far more than circa £100.

They are an open up headphone with the cups owning a metal grill and on the lookout rather like the grado sr80e. The headband however is totally diverse to grado’s. It is partly metallic inside of plastic possessing a gentle plastic padding above most of the band. The cups are protected with a very soft velour. Simply because of the way they sit on the head and ears, they are the most comfy headphone i have worn. They are rather light in pounds and hardly ever seem to be to choose the notice away from the tunes. Imho for the headphone measurement bass is sturdy but accurate.

Yamaha HPH-200 Premium Headphones – Black : Not too tight or too loose, not too bassy, not too bright, not too loud, not too feeble, not too big, not too small. First bit of yamaha audio kit i’ve bought in a long time. I’d forgotten just how good their stuff is. Very fair price for a very, very high quality piece of kit. But they’re leaky, and they don’t have noise cancelling. Not for libraries or the tube.

Amazing pair of headphones, and i especially love them when listening to some 3d audio tracks. The sound is clear – i’m no expert of audio and sounds etc. But i can tell that the output of these is astonishing. Everything about these headphones is great. They’re perfectly comfortable and the length of the cable is more than long enough. My only issue is that even the quietest of sounds will bleed through to the surroundings. I only use these when i’m at home for this reason – in public, every one would be able to hear what i’m listening to, which isn’t what i want.

Great quality, good price, very impressed. Am using with a yamaha digital piano s52. The headphones are so light to wear and the sound so realistic that i find i have to check that the headphones are plugged in before playing at night to make sure that i don’t wake the kids up.

Excellent sound but build quality could be better. I recently purchased these from a private seller on ebay as a new unused item for £50 inc p+p. I had wanted to try open backed headphones and i had considered other options but these stood out due to stellar buyer reviews even though there are no professional reviews out there. Yamaha does have a solid pedigree in quality hi-fi and musical instruments so this fact combined with positive consumer reviews persuaded me to seek out a discounted pair. Currently selling on amazon at a discounted £77 from the £95rrp, i managed to get mine even cheaper thanks to time and patience. In terms of price i do feel these are overpriced mainly due to the build quality which is only average in my opinion. I think £60-£70 would be a more realistic price point for these despite the fantastic sound quality. Another thing to consider is the open design which is best used in a private listening space because these leak sound like nothing else. These phones also have fixed dual cable inputs and so if you damage the cable you can’t just replace the cable, the cups would need to be opened to conduct a repair. Anyway, i’ve broken my review of the principle considerations down as below;sound 5/5: beginning with the most important aspect i found the sound from these as good as expected.

Sound quality on these is as good as everyone says, but there’s a dreadful flaw that wrecks the whole experience. The cups and the band seem to have been designed by different teams — the cups perhaps by audophiliac nerds working in some basement, and the band by beancounters who chose literally the cheapest, creakiest plastic they could find. If i so much as move my jaw a millimetre to the right or left, a distinct cracking-creaking sound interrupts whatever i’m listening to. I happen to have got mine second-hand for a lot less than rrp, but if i hadn’t i would have returned them right away.

After having had several low budget type headphones, the difference with these is quite remarkable, even on a fairly basic stereo system. There’s a terrific clarity and a great spread between bass, mid and treble. They’re a very comfortable fit on my head, but they are reasonably adjustable. They work well with an extension lead as well.

I own some good headphones in the £100-£200 price range including grado sr80e. I own some good headphones in the £100-£200 price range including grado sr80e, audio technica m50x, ue6000 and phillips fidelio l1, these are by far the best sounding and the most comfortable to wear for long periods. They have the clarity of the sr80e with to my ears a better bass and a smoother sound. An absolute bargain at under £100. Can be easily driven by phones etc.

I guess the award givers were looking at. Yep, i agree with everyone else’s comments. Originally bought akg 452s for £60, absolutely awful. I guess the award givers were looking at them, not listening to them. Got those refunded and spent a bit more on these – worlds apart. Detailed, accurate, nicely balanced, and above all really warm sounding and easy to listen to. Built is typically yamaha, unfussy unpretentious styling. Ps if you’re seeking a secondary cheap pair for travelling without worrying if they get lost, get the sennheiser px95 – brilliant sound for £20.

Completely awesome headphones. . I am absolutely blown away by these headphones they sound awesome better than my no faulty grado 80e headphones which lasted five minutes before they blow an ear piece. I would suggest anybody who enjoys good solid sound reproduction seriously don’t miss out on these headphones they are pure hifi gem.

Great headphones – yamaha quality shows through. These are top quality phones for a very reasonable cost. I have compared them to some mid/upper range sennheisers and they come across extremely well. Highly recommended, especially when there is a temporary price reduction.

Excellent headphones for the money. Excellent headphones for the money. Great for films from tv, and very good bass and treble on all frequencies ect. Cant understand why these headphone rarely appear in reviews. Yamaha kit is of the highest quality for music and real sound.

Old headphones in the rubbish bin. I got these with my piano which has a silent function. When i first tested it and put on the headphones i initially thought that the electronics had broken and i was hearing the real piano playing rather than the electronic substitute. Suffice to say i am very impressed by these and can’t recommend them enough. I didn’t realise how rubbish my old ones were until these showed me how sound should be delivered to my ear drums.

They are an open headphone with the cups having a metal grill and looking somewhat like the grado sr80e. The headband though is totally different to grado’s. It is partly metal inside plastic having a light plastic padding over most of the band. The cups are covered with a very soft velour. Because of the way they sit on the head and ears, they are the most comfortable headphone i have worn. They are quite light in weight and never seem to take the attention away from the music. Imho for the headphone size bass is strong but accurate.

Close your eyesit’s a personal performance. . I’ve tried these with a broad range of genres (aggrotech, pop, electronicore, drum & bass, classical, industrial rock, dubstep etc), and they reproduce the audio as if the artist/midi monkey is in the same room. So so worth nearly £100 (after p&p).

Great, but sound leakage means not for m. The first pair of on the ear headphones i had bought. Listening from an iphone, it sounded like i was at a concert. And they are pretty comfortable (although didn’t quite fit my head). Problem was i didn’t understand the difference between open and closed back. These open ones have great sound, but i could hear what people near me in the office were saying, and when i turned it up to drown the noise (sociable lad), the rest of the office could hear the music i was listening to. So they get 4 stars but have gone back and i’ll be looking for a closed set of cans to replace them.

I really like them, i agree with all the good reviews and that is why i bought them. They are very light, very well made and sound great without too much bass emphasis. Only slight negatives, they leak a lot of sound as expected as they are open backed but this benefits the sound, they could also be a little more comfortable but you could say that about most.

The quality is very good such as the price i had it for (around 60£). Really strong headphones and pretty comfy.

To my ears they sound much better and build quality is top notch. Bought these after reading online reviews on head-fi , so i suppose it was a blind buy. However, these are top quality hi-fi. I bought them to replace some grado sr60i. To my ears they sound much better and build quality is top notch. And bass is good without being overbearing. Separation and soundstage is superb recommended.

Great value and a great product. I love listening to music and have brought and tried over 50 pairs of over, on ,closed open etc from the px100 – sennhesier hd650 and various ultrasone, beyerdynamic, grado, phillips etc etc in an attempt to get the best sound i cani still have 25 in my collection and this little known pair get more than their share of listening time which is amazing considering they can be brought for under $50 these days and are one of the cheaper sets i haveslightly odd pair in terms of being portable and open for on air headphones – not sure what the market is for these as they leak sound so not great for an office or travelling. However for my use of walking they are perfect as you get an open sound, ventilation and can hear some external noisethey are very good in terms of sound stage and easily compete with my sennheiser momentum on ear, hd25, philips l1, harman kardon cl in terms of listening enjoyment. The main weakness for me is that they are very unforgiving of lower bit rate mp3 recordings – give them 320mps mp3 or flac and they are very very good for the price. Lower bit rate sound very badcomfort is good but not the best i have. They are a brighter sounding headphone but do have reasonable bass response on good recordings. They do sound better amped but drive easily direct from potable mp3 or iphonesome people compare these in sound to the grado sr80i – i find that these have more bass response and are not as bright and i prefer these for comfort and sound. If you can pick up a cheap pair would recommend as one to add to the list for listening enjoyment.

It claims extra bass and thats what you get. I prefered this xb500 more than the sucessor xb600. As decribed, these headphones present a bass weighty response.
