Toshiba Satellite C55-A-1N4 15 : Good for the price, but awful mouse pad

Bit plasticky, and the keyboard is way too lightweight for me – but that’s the risk you take buying something online. The laptop seems to run windows 8. 1 fast enough, and with office installed i’m able to do everything i need to. I think i’ll find myself plugging in an external keyboard, because the keys on this are so light that i’m finding that i get a double hit very frequently, on almost every other word. As i do a lot of typing, this is becoming very irritating. I have tried tweaking the keyboard settings in windows, that hasn’t helped much.

Integrated webcam and microphone stopped working in the first week. The body work is nice and looks good but scratches easily and quickly ruins. Mouse pad refuses to work when it has a hair trapped or a piece of dust touching it. On first boot-up laptop has dozens of unneeded software installed that just plain slow it the laptop down. Now with the good:despite not having a graphics card the specs of the laptop are ideal and can run heavy duty software (not including games) such as adobe products. Keyboard functions wellscreen is okay, and has adjustable brightness. 8gb ramlightweightgood screen size.

This laptop is very good, i heard a lot about windows 8. 1 and most not very good, anyway i decided to stick with it and give it a try, only ever had windows 7, but each day i use it, it gets better. So all in all this laptop with 8. 1 os, is very good, and one last point, it starts up very quickly, i can recommend it.

Use for gaming, very pleased. I’ve had this laptop for over a year now, it has had no problems at all. It is very quick and can handle games very well due to it’s good specs. A little bit big and heavy, but still very easily portable. Had a look around for a fairly cheap laptop under £500, at the time was the best option for me, as i said previously very good specs, 1tb hdd, i5 processor, 5gb ram and i got it for £450.

I had to ring help line in the end and the person helping was very good, though he had trouble too. This isn’t the first lap top i’ve had, but it certainly the most difficult and frustrating to set up. I had to ring help line in the end and the person helping was very good, though he had trouble too.

Reviews from purchasers :

  • Great laptop, but here are some tips
  • Excellent Laptop
  • Good value Laptop

All good so far with this light, quick, easy to use laptop with tons of storage. I noticed some people are having issues with the speakers being ‘tinny’ (even when you plug in headphones) – initially, i had that problem too, but i found a fix. Right click on the ‘window’ in the bottom left hand corner, select control panel. Click ‘hardware and sound’3. Click ‘idt audio control panel’ – which will open the idt audio control panel4. Click advancedthis brings up a little graphic equaliser window. Play with the settings on that and it should sort it out for you.

Good enough for home/family use. . For the price i can see why it’s a popular laptop. If it’s for home/family use then it’s an excellent buy. Not sure what other reviewers mean by it being flimsy. It’s sturdy enough as laptops go. The cd drive tray is pretty minimal in structure but as with any piece of portable electronic equipment, treat it right and it should be fine. One or two niggles but nothing major. Yes there are a few pointless bits of software thrown in there but they can be uninstalled.

Too heavy, getting very slow after 3 years, overall, is decdent.

Very happy with this purchase. Worried at first, but it has performed well.

Very happy with this purchase. Worried at first, but it has performed well.
Lovely keyboard but woeful touchpad makes this almost unusable. This laptop seems good on paper, but it’s good some significant flaws. I’ve owned two other samsung laptops and both held up really well (a combined nine years of use, around 50 hours per week). Unsurprisingly, given that this one is the newest, its performance is by far the best. Processing speed and screen resolution are good. The keyboard is also very nice to type on. However there are some glaring, fundamental, school-boy errors in the design and build quality which can make it a really difficult computer to use. Never had a problem using a touchpad on any other laptop i’ve owned. I write a lot of documents in word, and the slippery touchpad makes it almost impossible to do precise actions such as highlighting or dragging and dropping a block of text. Seriously, it’s almost unusable. A real pain if like me you’re a touch typist who doesn’t want to have to move from keyboard to mouse and back again as you work. Also, the touchpad is so close to the keys that it’s hard not to brush it as you type (and i’m certainly no clumsy-fingered idiot with hands the size of bears’ paws). I can’t understand why they’ve changed the touchpads – the old ones were faultless.

Really happy with this laptop. Really happy with this laptop. Strongly constructed and pre-loaded with windows 8. 1, it’s done some sterling work. Video conversion uses the core 5 at full whack and it steams through the work. Quiet, good keyboard, great spec and price.

Good for the price, but awful mouse pad. This is much faster than my old laptop which had a similar spec. A few down sides: the casing is very bendy, it feels like it would cracking easily. The mouse pad is horrible – either unresponsive or very over responsive with nothing in between. The key board feels quite cheap – not very springy, but not a major issue.

Great laptop, runs almost anything,. Bought this when it was on sale for around £380 i believe. It’s the 8gb 1tb one it’s amazing. Runs loads of games, i mainly use it for uni work+gameshas good jacks, good usb ports, honestly i can’t fault this laptop, maybe if the keys were lit it’d be nice but other than that it’s amazing.

Very good machine, had it for 3/4 months and it. Very good machine, had it for 3/4 months and it works fine. Battery life isn’t extraordinary, neither are the speakers but in terms of performance, it is great. I’ve run adobe after effects ‘which uses alot of ram and memory’ and photoshop whilst playing music and surfing the internet all at the same time with no problems. There is a button that turns of the trackpad so people often say it just randomly stops working but they are mostly wrong.
