The new apple sat-nav, the igo. ✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚—- updated (16/06/15) review begins —-✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚*** i try to update this review regularly, but to see the full (and current) list of software updates, visit the tomtom website here http://bit. This review relates to software version 15. 202 and all previous ***this is an in depth product review (updated after around 24 months use) for tomtom’s premium navigation device, the go 6000 (but will also largely apply to any of the go x0, go x00/x10 and go x000/x100 devices – for this reason, i have also placed this review within their respective pages). My aim is to provide an honest viewpoint that will help you make a decision about purchasing, whether you’re a complete newcomer to sat-navs, or use them on a daily basis. In certain aspects, i will compare this device to my previous sat-nav, a tomtom go live 1005 world. In recent reviews of tomtom’s latest sat-navs i have seen a worrying trend of consumers buying a product without really realising what that specific model can, and more importantly can’t do. I will attempt to enlighten you all. ✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚✚—- tomtom go x0/x00/x10/x000/x100 product range differences —-let’s get this out the way. Around may/june 2015, tomtom updated most of their lines of sat-navs, which makes updating this review more than a little complicated. The reason being, just because tomtom no longer sell certain models on their website, doesn’t mean that you can’t still buy them, so i will try and encompass every model of the go that you can currently purchase – here goes. Go series = three ranges:there are essentially three ranges of sat-navs within the go series.
Bought this directly from tomtom. Don’t know why, but there was no carry case in my parcel. I guess tomtom loves one of the previous reviewers just a little bit more than me :)the device itself looks nice, pretty quick recalculating the route if you missed the turn (nope, i wasn’t doing it on purpose, wink-wink). Searching for an address or a place is a bit of a hassle for me, maybe because i was using garmin before. Syncing with mydrive works like a charm. I’ve noticed one strange thing – sometimes i’m looking for a place (which is not recently built) and can’t find it and i’m about to edit the map and add this place, then i can see that it’s already there. ⊙_⊙ then i’m looking for this place again and just can’t find it. But not sure if it’s allowed here. What really surprised me is that there’s no way to connect your phone to your tomtom (you know – hands-free calling and all that stuff) why tommytommy, why???. My 6 year old garmin was able to do that, why on earth new, modern, stylish tomtom can’t?but there’s of course something very positive – free maps, traffic and speed cameras updates. For older models you have to buy this on a yearly basis (or google word ‘torrent’ if you still not familiar with it, triple wink), this one comes with free updates, which is nice and saves you few coins in the long run. All in all nice device, but the feeling that it could be much nicer is still there.

Tom tom 5100 first thoughts after a tom tom 750 live. . **** latest update ****it would seem that you need a usb socket with high amperage to actually charge this device rather than just supply power to use. I noticed that within 10 minutes of disconnecting the device the system would report ‘low battery’ and shutdown. I changed my usb adapter in the car to a 2. 1a output device and tried again. Seems to have made a difference and the device now retains a charge beyond 10 minutes. Please can we have a different compass arrow. ;-)***** 3 week use update*****i’ve raised the review from 3 to 4 stars. Pros:great screen that hasn’t scratched despite needing cleaning everyday. Smooth scrolling display with a good selection of colour options.
First impressions are excellent. . I have only used the device for 1 trip through eastern europe, an area where a lot of these devices sometimes do not function very well, but the 5100 did quite well considering i did not have full instructions as it was the non uk model and handbook was in german which i do not understand. It accepted nearly all the addresses i put in, except a hotel in macedonia it did not recognise, but it did accept the co-ordinates which took us to the door of the hotel. I would need to use it a few more times to see just how good it is, but so far seems to do what it’s supposed to. I live in bulgaria, and the last go i had only recognised about half of the country, so we will just wait and seejust disappointed that the handbook is not multi-lingual as most devices are nowadays, otherwise 5 star.
