The update process nowhere near as pleasant. . As a sat nav it is fine and works well. The voice control can be a bit flaky but works okay. Downloaded the mydrive app to the pc. Three hours later this had down loaded updates, a further hour to download these to the sat nav itself. It then restarted and will not reconnect to the software. Even though it was not unplugged. Apparently this is a common problem and removing and reloading their flaky software might sole the issue. When maps are out of date it is easier to buy a new one?. Shame, a good product spoilt by poor software and poorer customer support. . Once the little device had been persuaded to restart, it took a little bit of effort there, we found that the update had in fact taken placethe split screen display on motorway junctions was great and saves losing all the rest of the display, just as you reach a critical point. The serena voice has changed to something a little more edgy, some may like it. To allow pc to see the device again, had to delete my drive from the pc and reload it, seems that on my machine at least, it is a single use programme. The tom tom itself behaved impeccably, but is let down by the flaky web site and no ‘warm fuzzy’ secure feeling during the update process.
Tom tom 60i missed my tom tom app on my previous android phone and had to make do with other satnav apps so i am a big fan of tom tom. I bought a tom tom xl in 2005. Ten years and a failing battery later, i decided it was time to see how far satnav technology had progressed and bought the tom tom 60 through amazon’s ‘lightening’ deals, which sees a product substantially reduced in price for a limited time. My original tom tom xl still works, but the battery doesn’t hold its charge, which is not a big issue once connected to the car. Firstly, i was struck how large the screen is. The response time from switching it on to it becoming fully operational is quicker. I’m afraid it all went downhill from there. Turning the device on, i immediately noticed the low contrast compared to my previous model and there is no real way of adjusting this.

Good kit, deal not as good as it seemed. Its actually pretty good as a piece of kity once you get the hang of it. Speed restriction notification and traffic camera warnngs were a bonus i did not expect. The fitting bracket is such that you can only attach it to a windscreen, which limits placement. Big moan though about the special offer of cashback which prompted me to buy this model – claiming the casback was such a pain as to be virtually impossible and i gave up. Re registering the unit on the website – it is described as having lifetime updates (which means, i think four times/year) i am a bit concerned that i may have ticked the wrong option when registering online, so we shall see.
An awesome bit of kit which picks up gps signals very quick.
Very good device, frustrating instructions. . We bought it ahead of a trip to france and it was a great help finding various destinations. My one criticism is the start up instructions that fail to point out the device needs several hours of charging before it will work. It caused me much frustration before i spotted the point somewhere obscure. However once charged all was well.
