Witchcraft included free of charge. Small box which sits in the corner of the room and somehow manages to fill it with a gorgeous, detailed warm sound. No, this is not up there with the likes of naim but at the deal price this is impossible to beat for sound quality.
Sounds good, works well, does the job. – the build quality is very good, and i think appropriate for the price. (the packaging is also great. ) the unit came with both an eu (in the main box) and uk cable (packaged separately), with the eu version being much nicer. – the software is actually pretty good. I was worried that teenage engineering might place a bit too much emphasis on design, and ignore the software, but it’s actually been pretty reliable and non-confusing. (i’m actually glad it doesn’t support bluetooth–in my experience that makes the interface unnecessarily complex, and the actual playing of music more unreliable. ) i suspect that most of the glitches are mostly down to spotify’s connect library doing something weird, too. (it attempts to keep multiple clients updated with what’s actually playing, but occasionally one device seems to lose its mind. I’m assuming nobody who’s considering buying this is going to think that this is the best sound one can buy for £630, and i haven’t compared it directly to anything other units, but i think it’s very good, and probably about as good as it gets for a two driver unit. – there are physical buttons on the unit for volume control, but they’re right at the bottom of the unit and very difficult to access. If you think a physical remote would be useful you can buy the separate ortho remote for another £100 or so. It’s a lot of money for a remote but it’s very nicely made (no surprise) and works well. (note that any device running the orthoplay app can control the volume and pause/skip, etc.
I bought teo and they works perfect with spotify connect. I bought teo and they works perfect with spotify connect. However is the sync between the speaker outside spotify connect is lagging. I have still not found the reason. The service from amazon has been super.
After unpacking the speaker, i got very frustrated, because i was unable to connect it to my wifi network. I tried from a mac, an iphone and an adroid phone. Each time i got the message ‘unexpected error’ which i would have expected from an old windows system, not a great looking piece of kit like this. Next day, i tried one more time before calling the support number that is listed in the online manual, and it worked. But, after this first unexpected hold-up, i must say, the od-11 sounds absolutely great. I have put it in a corner of the room and tried it with all kind of music, and it all sounds crystal clear. No overpowering bass, but just right. This is the speaker you would have expected apple to make visually, but with better sound quality.
Just love them (bought a pair with the remote) the sound. Just love them (bought a pair with the remote) the sound is really, really good for an airplay speaker. Was surprised how deep the bass goes and it comes through even at lower volume. Stereo perspective is very god and not so sensitive to placement as they plays towards the celing. For me this is a full substitute for a traditional stereo setup when it comes to sound quality. If you want to play lp:s that would also be possible, but you need to have the riia connection made trough one of the two speakers 3. 5 pluggs and then you could not call them wireless anymore ;-)the streaming connection is stable, have only had a few dropouts during the 6 week period i have owned them so far. Uses only airport stuff from apple if that helps.
Teenage Engineering Sweden OD-11 UK Hi-Fi Wireless Cloud Speaker System – Red : Well when it first arrived i was a little disappointed but 2 weeks in and now nextdoor are out for the night (fingers crossed) the little box is living up to its reputation. It is good, very very good as a wireless speaker/hifi. It is not a replacement for a proper hifi but my god its pretty close.
