Ok, so i’m not a big reviewer, more of a voyeur when it comes to amazon, but having owned this product for the best part of a year, and loved every moment, i felt the need to rave on amazon for the benefit of others. I really don’t think you’ll get a much better bit of kit for the price. It’s a solid, well built, sturdy box, nice and weighty. The sound quality is spot on – i agree with some of the other reviewers that it lacks some high end finesse, but i’m not expecting bose or bang & olufsen quality (or price) – for me it’s just great. I mostly use it a mid to low volumes, as background music, and as such i’m not looking for the sort of crisp sound i’d expect from a dedicated system costing several hundred whatevers. I rarely use the base boost feature, which certainly boosts, if a little too much. I guess it’s down to your own expectations. For me, sound quality on this is perfect. Being bluetooth, of course it doesn’t have to be linked to just your phone.
Big sound for less than other brands. Hi i bought this as i wanted to bluetooth music from my phone on holiday cutting down on items to take. This item is ‘quality’ it comes in a protective thick case and the item is solid it looks great and it sounds great at approximately 12 inches long and appx 3 inches high by 3 inches deep it is not going to be able to stand up to your home stereo but it packs a whacking punch and range for its size. This is perfect as a portable speaker for a trip to the beach, a picnic or sunbathing in the garden. The battery life is awesome. The drawback that has stopped this from being a five star for me was that i bought this for taking on holidays abroad. I feel now that this unit is a little big and a little to heavy. If you want a speaker for going abroad with weight and size being so important these days you can get some nice units the size of a fist that sound good and are ideal for travel. They do not compare to this unit side by side for sound so you have to make your own decision. My priorities may be different to yours as i end up carrying the bags, hence lighter and smaller for holidays is my mantra.
Supertooth disco, best bluetooth speaker i could find under £100. I needed a speaker that would give me quality sound in my loud old land rover and give me the same on holiday around the pool, campsite and in every room in the house. I looked at loads of speakers, jambone, fox, creative, zeppelin, bose etc. I take my time and consider each alternative, reading reviews and grabbing as many as possible for tests. They all had their story to tell, but the supertooth won it for me. Why?portability was key, so whilst it isn’t as light or as small as a jawbone or fox, the smooth, basey, rich sound even at 1/4 volume was enough to ensure everyone was happy and able to play their bluetooth music from any ipod or phone any time, giving enough volume to trounce the inferior players. It’s still easy to carry around and will fit into most bags comfortably. My 1968 land rover has a diesel engine and is very loud on the road, but playing the supertooth at half volume max bends my ears and impresses any (lucky?) passengers. At night around the campfire, i encourage anyone with music to link into its bluetooth mode and we have lots of entertainment from everyone’s music piece. Volume, by the way, works from two stereo speakers pumping out 8w each and then there is the back-up of the 12w base speaker too. Good but you can get better. Good bluetooth speaker but a bit dated now. Bought a cheaper one (sandstrom sbtb14) that has better sound and better build quality.
I’ve been in mind to get a portable speaker of some kind for a while now, and after a lot of trawling around i settled on the supertooth disco 4. The reviews where round good, and, frankly, it looks pretty cool. It feels solidly built and looks pleasantly stylish, in a basic kind of way, and not so big it doesn’t fit in a back pack uncomfortably. The connectivity is great, nice and quick, and the addition of the aux lead is dead handy as well. Charging is relatively fast, and the battery life on it is very impressive. So far i think the longest i’ve had it playing continuously for is about 6 hours. I haven’t had it at full volume yet, but its been plenty loud enough relaxing down the beach with a group of mates, at only at about half volume on an ipod, and i haven’t heard any distortion at higher volumes. Personally i would have loved a little more bass, but i am being a little over expectant as i’m a dub and jungle fanatic. In all honesty i’m very impressed and very happy with the sound it produces.
Reviews from purchasers :
- Supertooth Disco, best bluetooth speaker I could find under £100
- Well I bought it for her birthday
- Better than I could have hoped
I ordered the disco after all the great reviews i read. To be fair it isn’t a terrible speaker, its stylish, comes with a great case and plays at a great volume. My problem is that i have come to the realisation that i am a real audiophile. I first wanted a bluetooth speaker when i heard the bose soundlink. I thought that i could opt for the cheaper alternative but when i first powered up the disco i knew it wasn’t good enough for me. The mid sounds were too muffled for my taste and the bluetooth connection left a slight hissing sound that bothered me. When connected via the audio lead the sound was a lot better, but i could buy a far superior wired speaker for less money than the disco so i thought there was no point. If you are looking for a decent speaker that you can take about with you or use in small rooms in the house this will suffice but if you really love your sounds and want clarity and definition then, like me, you might have to spend a little more.
Love music and needed to get a portable device to enjoy it when i am away from home. The problem was their was so many speakers to chose from. So i started to wade throught pages of speakers to hopefully find the right product. Thankfully with the aid of peoples reviews i settled for the supertooth. Normally dont review products but had to after i was blown away by this product. If it was not for the reviews i might have over looked this great piece of kit. Easy to use, quick to set up and as a bonus works with my netbook (samsung nc 10). Ps the pictures dont do it justice, plus having it your hands it feels well built. I recomened to anyone looking for a quality bluetooth compatable speaker.
