Bose qc35 vs sony mdr100abn. I’m doing a fair amount of travelling so decided to find a pair of bluetooth, noise-cancelling cans. I read some reviews of the bose qc35, and while reading about them, found these sonys too. On impulse i purchased a pair of qc35s from bose, happy in the knowledge that they offer 30-day returns. (i’d never have splashed £290 on a pair of headphones otherwise. ) the bose sounded good and were very comfortable; however it became apparent that the active noise reduction on them coloured the sound when enabled. It took away too much mid-range and to me didn’t sound as great as reviews claimed. Colleagues at work identified the same thing. The sony headphones were over £100 cheaper – £179 – when i bought them. Naturally i took the opportunity to do an a and b comparison of the bose and the sony.

When i ordered) the sound quality you get is fantastic, great soundstage with lovely performance across the board. For the price of these headphones (£91 when i ordered) the sound quality you get is fantastic, great soundstage with lovely performance across the board that seems very well balanced. Also probably some of the most stylish and comfortable headphones i have ever purchased, of which i have purchased an absolute ton of them. If you decide to use these phones with an amplifier you’ll be greeted with massively improved bass response and increased clarity, so i definitely recommend teaming these puppies up with one, of which i have been using the b&o hifi attachment with the lg g5. A big letdown has to be the cable though which does not seem to be a standard 3. Instead of a standard attachment it seems to slot into the headphone using a slightly bigger connection meaning that you need to buy a cable specific to this product if you would like to replace it. I contacted sony customer support about this and was told that i should ask the retailer instead which obviously wasn’t very helpful. If you can look past the cable issue i would recommend these headphones without a second thought.

Above average but not worth the price. After 50hrs+ of use i really wanted to like these headphones but, – bass is extremely underwhelming, pretty quiet on my s7 edge, ipad air 2 & iphone 6s to the point where im having to use it on max volume to be satisfied (better on a computer though), after a few hours of use your ears and the top of your head can get quite irritated, the quality of sound is above average but if you like to listen to hip-hop, trap, dubstep, house or anything with a bass drop then i would look elsewhere. These aren’t necessarily bad, but aren’t necessarily great either. For the price, you can definitely get better.

Comments from buyers

“Amazing headphones. Brilliant bass and fantastic noise cancelling, Poor fit keep falling off during housework, Excellent Wireless Headphones”

I thought i’d look like a dork on the tube wearing them, but after an uncomfortable first day, i love them. Turns out no one bats an eyelid these days, unless it’s in admiration of how good they look. The sound quality is amazing with bluetooth (haven’t tried wired), and the noise cancellation works really well – the only downside is i can’t hear the station announcements so have to keep my eyes open. Have been using them for a week, and haven’t had to charge them yet.

You can’t go wrong with sony headphones. I am not an audiophile, so i will not expand on that topic.

Brilliant bass and fantastic noise cancelling. Brilliant bass and fantastic noise cancelling. I previously bought the bose soundlink headphones and the sony mdr-100abn far surpass’ them and they are cheaper tooi definitely recommend these if you’re looking for a good quality pair of headphones. The only downside is that the volume range isn’t as wide as i would have liked but that’s because i sometimes like to listen to my music super loud as these only go to a certain level depending on whether i’m listening on my phone or laptop.

Poor fit keep falling off during housework. I am going to leave a review for these as i had to send them back. I purchased these to replace my beats 3 purely as the ones i own are not over the ears. The good thing about these earphones are they have volume controls and a hands free. The noise reduction was good but to be honest not worth £249. I would have rather spent a little more and got excellent. Also i am not a small person and the headphones kept slipping off at the slightest movement. I could not clean the house with them as every time i bent down they fell off. I would also say the sound quality from my beats are a lot better more sharp. It really depends what you are looking for from earphones.

Pros:-stylish and it comes with colour matching hard shell carrying case-good controls-solid bluetooth connection-nfc for instant pairing (only for nfc enabled devices)-delivers clean, accurate and balanced sound with decent stereo seperation and immersion. -tight and enjoyable bass response (not bass boosted signature)-good noise cancelling (though not the best)-long lasting battery life-worth the price (ususally lower than rrp)cons: (most are just minor issues)-matt finish shows scuffs/marks through direct light after a few bumps and accidental scratches. -would be better if the case had a included pocket to store cables-the earpad cut out could be bigger as it still touches parts of my ear which leads to discomfort after a few hours of usage-cannot connect to multiple devices at the same time-charging can only be done properly via computer and tha battery takes too long to fully charge-the microphones amplifies wind which makes annoying and disturbing wind noises.

Good headphones, they have all the key features and are comfy.
😀 comfortable although not very light (all that in-built technology) and. Noise cancellation function has really improved the train journeys. 😀 comfortable although not very light (all that in-built technology) and very soft on the ears.

These headphones have a lot to offerthere are pairs of headphones out there with similar features at similar price points but i did my research and found these would be the best pair for me. With all round functionality, great sound quality and an eye-catching style, these cans tick all the boxes. Ear ons offer a deep, full sound with an impressive soundstage. The bass does not bleed into the mids but is rather tight, something sony does well. The highs are not too sharp, allowing for longer listening sessions at higher volumes without damaging your ears. The detail is there but not as impressive or bright as other headphones. Noise cancellationthese offer great noice cancellation for low sounds such as car rumbling or planes, but not so much for voices. In fact, you can hear people talking even clearer becuase it gets rid of the background noise.

Splashed out on these for a recent holiday. One charge lasted me for over 16 hours of flying. Watched a few movies, tv shows and listened to music on my phone. Noise cancelling works a treat, drowning out the usual din on an airplane. Connected easily to my xperia xz premium using the nfc function. Just touch the back of the phone on the left ear can and voila, connected. Also used the wired connection to watch a few things on the plane tvs and all was good here too including nc. Comes with a hard zipped case to protect them. They feel well made, look stylish and ooze quality just as you expect from sony. I got them at nearly half price but would have been as happy if i had of paid full £s.

Useless for dancing to music but brilliant for everything else. . Brilliant sound quality but i rarely use the noise cancellation as you can’t really dance with the headphones on – every time your head moves the noise cancellation creates this weird muffle that makes listening to music while dancing impossible, so it’s only useful if your head is still. That said, the cancellation itself works well, if not perfectly, and the sound quality is unmatched. The battery life is also surprisingly long, so i would recommend these to anyone looking to enjoy music as it should be heard.

Very comfortable on the ears and the noise cancellation is brilliant. Very comfortable on the ears and the noise cancellation is brilliant. Some reviewers had mentioned a lack of volume. I’ve not experienced any issues on this, the headphones themselves have a volume control rocker on them and quite possibly they forgot to adjust this. Also, the rack that these are noise cancelling headphones negates that fact that you need to turn the volume up on the high side. Bass and treble is well balanced and not distorted. The battery life on the mdr-100abn is fantastic and i can get two weeks of use from them wearing in the office before needing a recharge. Controls for playing/pausing music as well as the already mentioned volume control and noise cancel on/off are easy to access and use. The fact that you can turn off the noise cancellation while in wireless mode is handy to save and extend battery life as i believe the bose qc35 can only do this when a cable is attached. Very impressed overall and look forward to using them on a long haul flight.

Good sounding headphones over bluetooth but not so good wired. After 4 month use mine stopped working after being in light rain. Sent them of to sony to be repaired just got it back and they have been replaced with new set. I’m not confident with them anymore and will be selling mine and getting bose qc35.
