Easy to set up, great sound. I had tried a soundbar before which i was totally unimpressed by because of both its huge ungainly size and poor sound. This is much smaller, 90cm wide, and is of a flattish configuration, slightly angled (a bit like a keyboard), and fits perfectly in front of the television on my tv cabinet. The associated subwoofer (on a separate power connection to the bar and which communicates wirelessly with the bar) is considerably larger than i expected (getting on for the size of an old-style under desk pc box) but fortunately with shifting the cabinet over slightly nests perfectly between it and the fireplace. It needs an hdmi connection (cable not supplied) and for older style hdmi ports (not marked ‘arc’ like on my tv) you need an optical cable connection too, which is supplied. Switch everything on and you are ready to go and your tv sound is instantly transformed. Pairing to my phone via bluetooth was painless (this can also be done via nfc but there seems little point doing that when you have to turn on bluetooth anyway) and i was playing music within seconds. There is an app provided by sony for music playing but i haven’t downloaded it – seems pointless to add yet another app to your phone when an existing one works perfectly. There is a remote control, plus wall mounting bits, a poster-sized foldout quick start guide and instruction booklet. Overall a very nice set which gives you home cinema sound plus wireless hi-fi.
Obviously your not going to get the. Obviously your not going to get the best ever sound quality available, but for a £200 system its is remarkable. Subwoofer is plenty powerful for a an average size living room and is defiantly noticeable. Sound bar is sleek and flat so will fit nicely in front of the tv. Warning: please set up properly. When pairing, make sure that the orange light is on(secure connection). Green light will not mean that the sub is not fully connected and thus minimal performance.Read connection manualpros:- excellent sound for a inexpensive system- plenty of bass for movies and games- different sound modes movie, game, music ect- bluetooth and nfc connectivity- wireless subwoofer ( no long and untidy cables)cons:- really none at all, just make sure that the subwoofer is connected properly or performance will suffer.

Nice quality -and with night mode can lift dialogue further. For the price £180 (amazon deal). No lip sync issues (arc return used) – see my thoughts on this below. I bought it for my tv in the kitchen. Being a large noisy family room, the standard tv speakers were not up to it. Nice quality -and with night mode can lift dialogue further. Sub has nice balanced sound as well (don’t know what other posters are talking about orange light. Mine is green as per instructions). **please note earlier firmware on sony 4k android tvs did show lip sync issues on my other sound bar for the living room and on 7.
Good sound bar but now the hdmi port isn’t working which is a pest and i have no way of contacting the seller or do i go through sony.
Reviews from purchasers :
- Not bad, was expecting worse as it’s all plastic and wood gives a better sound, so I was surprised
- Very pleased first time l have used a sound bar find
- Very pleased with sound quality and would recommend
Very good soundbar and sub woofer. Very good soundbar and sub woofer, albeit very large. We’ve been using a soundbar by a well known speaker brand with our samsung series 6 j6300 55-inch tv as i found the tvs inbuilt speakers quite harsh and it is currently about half the price of this sony soundbar, but was about two thirds of the price about 9 months ago. So the question for me is; is the sony twice as good?. But it is appreciably better in some ways. For a start, it’s much more powerful. This is good for us as we have a large living room and due to its shape we sit about 15 feet away from the tv and for me this is where the sony soundbar comes into its own, because i think the nearer you get to this speaker the worse the sound is. Up close the sound could be quite airy and thin and i have to say this is something i’ve noticed with a lot of modern speakers, the lack of a wooden cabinet seems to make them quite ‘tinny’ at low volumes. This at higher volumes it’s very good i think the size of this soundbar is an attempt to widen the soundstage as much as possible and i think it does work, from where i sit if i play music at a fairly high volume the soundstage is pretty impressive. Set up was very easy, virtually plug and play. I used the optical cable (provided) to connect to the tv and then waited whilst the soundbar connected wirelessly to the sub woofer and then connected both via bluetooth to my laptop and our kindle fires. I was able to listen to spotify within 10 minutes of opening the box. The sound quality is very good for a soundbar and the sub woofer does add some subtlety and range, although it’s obviously not as good as a dedicated hifi system, but then it’s not really meant to be. The sound from the tv is definitely superior to in inbuilt speakers, but this is where it’s not much of a step up from the cheaper soundbar.
Once you set up the wireless sub woofer correctly you wont believe your ears glad i bought this no regrets.
