My choice for sub £250 after a lot of research. . Update – went on the london tube and the noise cancelling struggled with the noise made going in and out of tunnels to and from stations. Not something i noticed with the beats. So if you’re using the tube a lot, buy with caution. I’ve just bought these to replace the +£300 beats wireless noise cancelling headphones that i have had for the past 3 years. I wear them twice a day for over 2 hours a go, so over 4hrs listening 5 days a week. The beats plastic has degraded and is coming apart – so i looked for a replacement. I didn’t want to go into the £300 range again, so the highly regarded bose wireless quiet headphones in this price range were out of the question. After lots of research and the fact that these were sub £200 at the time of purchase, i decided to go with this sony pair.
Bose qc35 vs sony mdr100abn. I’m doing a fair amount of travelling so decided to find a pair of bluetooth, noise-cancelling cans. I read some reviews of the bose qc35, and while reading about them, found these sonys too. On impulse i purchased a pair of qc35s from bose, happy in the knowledge that they offer 30-day returns. (i’d never have splashed £290 on a pair of headphones otherwise. ) the bose sounded good and were very comfortable; however it became apparent that the active noise reduction on them coloured the sound when enabled. It took away too much mid-range and to me didn’t sound as great as reviews claimed. Colleagues at work identified the same thing. The sony headphones were over £100 cheaper – £179 – when i bought them. Naturally i took the opportunity to do an a and b comparison of the bose and the sony.

You can’t go wrong with sony headphones. I am not an audiophile, so i will not expand on that topic.

Got this as a gift and they love them, they get a lot of use.
Sony h.ear on MDR-100ABN Wireless High Resolution Noise Cancelling Over-Ear Headphones – Red : Very happy with sony mdr 100aap. Was looking for new headphones a year or so ago. These were one of many i tested in a shop, and stood out as the ones i wanted. Now they have come down in price and i finally have them. They have brilliant sound and range of audio field. Noise cancelling works a treat, i tested them on a flight, at the front with all the screaming kids, i didn’t hear them. They fold down enough for travel, and comfortable to wear for many hours. Their is some slight distortion on the bass at high volume, but you can turn the bass down with mx player so easy fix.
