Shure SE215 In-Ear Sound Isolating Earphones – Clear : Unsatisfying Sound

I had to return these earphones as i was unsatisfied with their sound. The bass does not have any extension and any stronger bass kicks bleed and distort the rest of the range. It does not rumble like my beloved sony mdr-ex51lp (which died after four years of use) either. The only good about the sound are the mids and the lower highs. They are smooth, timberish and detailed – superb for harpsichord recordings of bach. However, the highs roll off pretty early which makes me feel like i’ve lost my hearing. Even if the the sound is not what i’d expected from them, i must admit that the design and the build quality of these is wonderful (i had the black, transparent ones). The earphones look beautiful and built to last. The cable is very comfortable and nothing less than top quality.

Brilliant noise isolation, quality sound. . I bought these for my commute to and from work, i take the tube so background noise is always quite high. Being very sensitive about my ears, i don’t like to have my music on too loud as to cause permanent damage, which leads to less than enjoyable music on the go. But with these shure headphones, i can listen to music at the lowest volume and barely hear the outside world. At my regular volume, the world is almost blocked out entirely. The shape of this pair of headphones in interesting, very different to what i have used in the past, but you grow accustomed to them and they are fairly comfortable, even during prolonged use. Sound quality is very good for such small drivers, not as good as the more premium shure headphones, or on ear ones, but still better than a lot of in-ear headphones i have used before. The price is well worth what you get in sound and quality, and the headphones being detachable is a nice addition, as replacing the wire is a cheaper option than having to replace your headphones if the cable snaps. Overall a brilliant purchase, and i am looking forward to purchasing more premium headphones by shure once these eventually stop working.

“Love these earphones, Lovely sounding earphones. Very good noise isolation with equally good, spacious soundstage., Awesome design and Amazing Sound”

Very comfortable foam ear plugs which allows for long listening and great noise cancelling.

Fiddly to start fitting over your ears however they they do fit snugly and are fairly secure. However they are not the best sounding for the money. Depending upon the source these can sound thin with no real depth and detail. There are better sounding earphones for the money.

Best sound quality and comfort in the price bracket. These are an absolutely fantastic pair of earphones. I typically hate wearing any type of earphones or -buds, but my company’s policy disallows me to use any headband style headphones as they believe that they make the company look unprofessional. With this being the case, i have bought a pair of urbanears kransen (surprisingly good for the price, but i ended up losing them), a pair of beats tour 2 (i know, consumerism and all that, but i was curious), and a pair of sennheiser momentum in-ears (again, very good, but would never sit right in my ears). Eventually, after far too much money spent on buds that i either lost, or hated the feel of in my ears (which subsequently affected the sound quality), i finally came across these and decided to give it one more go. I am very glad that i did; the sound quality far surpasses any other buds in this price range, and they are incredibly comfortable thanks to a combination of the over-ear design and the foam buds that they provide. They never shift in my ears, and never start hurting after using them for a long time. I will suggest that you do as i do when not using them: loop the stiff part of the wire that goes over your ear against the side of the earphone itself. This will ensure that when you use them the wire properly curves around the back of your ear, and doesn’t sit awkwardly above it.

These headphones are fantastic for pretty much any situation you want to forget you are wearing them. I’m a drummer and use these as stage monitors, and the frequency response is fantastic. If i had to critique any part of their sound it would simply be that the bass response could be a little better, however that can always be rectified by boosting the bass on your listening device of choice slightly. These headphones work great for sleeping in, going to the gym, or general everyday use. The cable looping over your ear is really useful as you can run the cable behind your back so it’s out of the way if you are on stage/at the gym. My main criticism (as others have mentioned before), is that the piece of metal wire inside the casing which you bend to fit your ear has a tendency to either cut into the wire itself, bust through the plastic casing, or in my case, both. I bought a cheap replacement cable which was pre-fit to a one-size-fits-all curve over the ear and have had no other issues since, but if you look after these headphones they will do you proud, mine are still going strong after about four years of near-everyday use.

For a pair of headphones designed to offer comfort, fit and isolation, these headphones are clunky, uncomfortable and the ear buds fail to give a good enough fit to give the depth of sound offered by other better headphones. I’ve had good sennheiser headphones that do this job much better with a softer cable and inline mic/controls, but better still, the beyerdynamic headphones at this price level offer the isolation and sound depth that these specifically designed headphones can’t. Poor fit really hurts these unnecessarily complicated ear buds.

Bought these on offer, and since purchased sennheisser ie80 which i was also considering. On balance i prefer the shures so far when paired with a headphone amp, the sennheisrs are excellent with any ource as they are so easy to drive. The shures have great balanced sound with very good, accurate bass; i personally love the over the ear design and long lead length. Memory foam ear buds work best for me, they are very comfortable for wearing all day and provide superb noise isolation. Simply stunning when used with fio mont blanc e12 amp. Will now save for the se425.

Love these earphones, slightly fiddly to put in but the detailed sound is worth the effort. Sound isolation is good, i would highly recommend bearing in mind i mostly listen to acoustic music.

Bought these as a gift for my husband and he loves them great sound quality, excellent at reducing noise leakage and look unusual.

Very robust, cable design “flaw”. Had these for a fair few months and i’m pretty impressed. I use my headphones pretty hard, having them in most of the day. At work, gaming and tv, and when i’m going to sleep. I’m used to having them break, and these have lasted longer than most so far. I had to replace the cable (a rat chewed through it, my fault) but whilst doing that i found a pretty major flaw. The tension in the cable plug is higher than the strength of the cable if that makes sense. So if you just pull the cable really hard, it’ll break rather than unplug. Shure says that’s a design feature. Kind of the exact opposite of the magsafe connections apple used to use.

I had moulded ear phones before costing £500 unique melody and after 8 years the insides just rotted so decided to go cheaper and although i can see difference i still think these are great for commuting as sound is good, and can’t hear everything spluttering.

To big stadium concerts and theyve performed brilliantly. I’ve been using these for around 2 years now from small intimate gigs and listening to music on the tube, to big stadium concerts and theyve performed brilliantly. Great fit and a very natural sound.

Very good quality, look good and sound better. Only slight issue is its tricky to change the earbud rubber ends over but this is a very minor problem. Would recommend to anyone wanting a pair of in-ear headphones.
