Sennheiser HD 599 Around-Ear Open Back Headphones – Ivory, I loved these. They are quite large and clunky

Foldable Headphones

They are really large and clunky. They are really significant and clunky, but particularly at ease and not far too hefty. The base is crystal clear and potent, and the sound has a really great harmony all through.

Performing as meant, really worth the cash if you can find the money for to spend it.

Precise, high-quality seem from truly excellent headphones. . Sennheiser make outstanding headphones that make sure you the two casual listeners and audiophiles alike and, with the launch of the 2016 updates to the five collection like these leading of the line 599s, i count on that their lofty name will be upheld. These hd599s are the top rated of the five-collection line and an up-to-date model of the 598/598se. The five sequence headphones sit just down below the fabled high quality but priciness of the hd600 series (and up) so provide what is billed as ‘almost audiophile quality’ at a somewhat a lot more cost-effective value than their huge cousins. The hd599s arrive in an eye-catching package deal containing the headphones, a 3m cable, a one. 2m cable and a converter jack for use with the long cable (the shorter cable is presently terminated in a standard 3. The first point that hits you about the headphones themselves when you eliminate them from the box is the exclusive glimpse, which may perhaps not be to everyone’s taste. Personally i you should not understand folks not liking a pair of excellent headphones like these because of the way they look, but i concede that for out and about use the cream and brown color may not be the ‘coolest’. The 599s visually vary from their 598 predecessors many thanks to much more intensive use of chrome and silver on the more recent model – with the huge sennheiser logo and manufacturer title on the grille and headband parts of the ‘phones breaking up all of that brown and cream properly.

Ok, when i purchased the 579, as a novice, i anticipated far more. The positives: wonderful create high quality, comfy to use, prolonged cable, the cable secures onto the headphone, incredibly effectively packaged, apparent and sharp audio. But i anticipated a little bass at minimum. I was manufactured informed these are not made for bass but i did expect a minimal little bit. The greatest way to explain it, the music felt flat, underwhelming. I was informed these had been built to give the person the liberty to change the audio characteristics from the music resource. I will try this at a afterwards date.

Sennheiser HD 599 Around-Ear Open Back Headphones – Ivory : In relation to the rest of the hd5 range, the 599’s are basically a slightly updated version of the hd598’s. The specifications are pretty much identical apart from spl which is reduced from 112db to 106db but that’s pretty much a non-issue. The big difference between these and the 598’s that i noticed straight away is the build quality. These are just a little bit weightier (in a good way) and feel much stronger and a lot less flimsy which was one of my major gripes about the 598’s and why i eventually returned them. The headband looks a lot more stylish with it’s brown faux-leather finish and overall the aesthetics are much more desirable than the already good looking 598’s, however the padding on the headband is reduced, somewhat in favour of the visuals, meaning they could possibly become uncomfortable quicker than their predecessor. The ear-cups are the same material as most of the hd5 range; very soft but firm enough to hold their shape, and i must say (having somewhat larger ears), they feel a lot more roomy than the 598’s shallow design. Though they do sound very similar to the 598’s (because they are essentially the same headphones but with a bit of a face lift), i find the sound a lot clearer, a little sharper and just all round less muddy. These headphones are open-backed, but the mesh is a lot thicker than on the 598’s and when i shone a torch (flashlight) through them their was definitely less light coming through. This passes onto the sound leak. Whilst there is still sound leakage (they are open-back after all), they leak a lot less than the 598’s, even to the extent where you could probably get away with using them in a public space without people getting annoyed. However, because of the reduction in sound leaking, there is also less outside noise and the sound itself is a lot warmer and a little more intimate than the 598’s so i would probably class these as semi-open backed.

Working as intended, worth the money if you can afford to spend it.

Best headphones i’ve ever purchased. I bought these from another retailer with a big discount. Sound quality is by far the best i have experienced, everything is crystal clear. I am picking out details i’ve never heard in music beforenot too bass heavy which is good. The only downside is everyone hears what you hear and there is no noise cancellation. So it’s best to enjoy these beauties at home in a quiet room.

I had been looking at the sennheiser hd5xx series for some time, particularly the hd598. I was impressed by the colour. My final decision on these was based purely on price as i found them (not on amazon) for £179, including the short cable which i would have had to purchase separately with the other options. At £179, these were the most cost-effective option. First impressions:these headphones are big – earcups measure 110 x 85 x 20 — truly over ears; the most comfortable headphones i have ever tried. Sound impressions:i use these with my fiio x1 dap without a headphone amp. They also work directly out of my samsung smart phone and kindlefire hdx without the need for a headphone amp, as well as from my computer. I am not an audiophile so cannot really describe the sound in any meaningful way.

The soundstage is better but they are quite harsh and flat sounding. I previously had the 598c’s closed back, thought id give these open back a try, the soundstage is better but they are quite harsh and flat sounding, if you want a more detailed neutral sounding headphone they are fine, but they are not warm and not great for bassier electronic music , the 579’s are warmer , probably going to return them and go for something a bit warmer and relaxing.

Lovely sound at normal levels, no use up loud. My skullcandy aviators gave up the ghost with a connector failure after 5 years, it was really rather a solemn moment. I bought the sennheisers to replace them. They came nicely packaged – a novelty that wears off quickly :)the first thing i noticed is that the connector is the 6. 3mm (larger) type with one of those big, clunky, rigid adaptors to shrink it down to 3. Can you imagine this arrangement plugged into your phone?. You’ll wreck it in two seconds flat (your phone that is). Maybe these aren’t phone phones.

A light and comfortable headset giving very good sound quality. The open back style gives a wide soundstage. The supplied cable has a large 6. 3mm jack plug with an adapter to 3. 5mm, which is a horribly clumsy arrangement. However, i bought a “replacement” cable for it which comes with a fixed 3. 5mm plug and separate adapter to 6.

Very comfortable, with a sound quality that is second to. Very comfortable, with a sound quality that is second to none. I was more than happy with my prior akg 550’s, however i have to confess that the sound from these hd579’s is vastly superior. There is a depth and space to the sound that the akg’s never had, whilst also having a remarkable amount of detail. Worthy of note – these headphones like to be driven quite hard, and if you don’t have a gutsy enough amp behind them, they sound a bit lacklustre; however, assuming that your amp is capable of supplying enough power, you will not be disappointed.

Pure, analytical quality from sennheiser. I am so happy to be able to review another excellent set of sennheiser headphones. I’ve already put the 599s and 569s through their paces and was impressed with both. My go to headphones are a pair of hd598ses that i’ve had for a while now and, despite trying so many other headphones, they’re the ones i keep returning to in the form of their updated big brother, the new hd599. So, could the hd579s make me change my mind?. . Firstly, the hd579s arrived in the usual nice and tidy sennheiser packaging, replete with a 3m cable, a 1. 5m cable and an adaptor to change the plug on the 3m cable from a 6. 3mm one found on larger hi-fi equipment to the seemingly more common, and more portable, 3. 5mm as used on phones, soundcards, mp3 players and so on.

Comfortable and are around the ear. Unlike my favourite sennheiser momentums which were advertised as around ear but were not. It is the first time i have tried open backed sennheisers and i like them. The sound isn’t as rich as my momentums but the soundstage is definitely wider and they are more comfortable (mainly due to not being ‘on’ ear). Two wires, one with the 1/4ins hi fi plug, the other the 3. 5mm jack plug for mp3 players. Tested on hifi and ipod nano (7th generation). Liked with the hifi but prefer the momentums. They are open backed so there is sound seepage, but the openness leads to the wider sound. I like not being completely blocked in with the sound. I like being able to hear a little bit of what is going on around me. Great headphones (i like the colour) and will become my headphone of choice for use with my ipod in a room on my own.

Beautifully crafted with a clear, mellow sound – first class. 00having previously purchased a set of the predecessor headphones (hd598) i was please to test and review this updated model. I originally purchased the 598s to utilise with the tv – i suffer from mild hearing loss in both ears and found that the tv/hifi volume too great for my partner to endure. This updated set follows the same basic design as previous with few aesthetic changes – the ear surrounds are a lighter shade of ivory, the sennheiser branding has been relocated to the headband and the trademark moved onto a stainless steel plate on each ear cup. Moving on to the sound output, there is little change noticed – the 598s were never bass heavy and the new variant provides a rich, velvet like tonal quality throughout the range. I find the rich sound ideal for speech based tv, but these 599s are equally at home with our classical, easy listening, jazz cd library and indeed whilst monitoring our kawai digital piano. A beautifully crafted set, producing mellow, clear sounds – if you’re after lots of heavy bass look elsewhere but these are very fine, stylish headphones from a top quality brand.

Very good sound and comfortable to wear but. Headphones are all about sound quality and comfort and in this respect, the sennheiser hd599 are very good. Excellent audio quality, their light weight, and comfort combine to make a very pleasant listening experience. I also like the detachable cables (of which you receive two; a 1/4 inch jack (plus 3. 5 mm adapter) version and a 3. The ear cushion pads are covered with velour which is very comfortable. But, overall i think the hd 599’s are incredibly expensive for what they are;i don’t think the materials they are made of (other than the velour) are quite up to the premium you are paying. My current go to headphones are the amazing philips x2 fidelio headphone – the x2’s are substantial cans, made of premium materials (metal construction and braided cable) and in my opinion far, far more comfortable and better sounding than the sennheiser hd 599.

Accurate, quality sound from genuinely great headphones. . Sennheiser make superb headphones that please both casual listeners and audiophiles alike and, with the release of the 2016 updates to the 5 series like these top of the line 599s, i expect that their lofty reputation will be upheld. These hd599s are the top of the 5-series line and an updated version of the 598/598se. The 5 series headphones sit just below the fabled quality but priciness of the hd600 series (and up) so offer what is billed as “almost audiophile quality” at a rather more affordable price than their big cousins. The hd599s arrive in an attractive package containing the headphones, a 3m cable, a 1. 2m cable and a converter jack for use with the long cable (the shorter cable is already terminated in a standard 3. The first thing that hits you about the headphones themselves when you remove them from the box is the unique look, which may not be to everyone’s taste. Personally i don’t understand people not liking a pair of quality headphones like these because of the way they look, but i concede that for out and about use the cream and brown colour may not be the “coolest”. The 599s visually differ from their 598 predecessors thanks to more extensive use of chrome and silver on the newer model – with the large sennheiser logo and brand name on the grille and headband portions of the ‘phones breaking up all of that brown and cream nicely.

Nicely packaged as one would expect. Opening the box they look good and are very light. Trying them on they’re very comfortable almost not there. There’s a 3m cord which is unpluggable. Sound wise these are very good indeed. The sound is very well balanced with a wide sound stage and good separation.

These are an update to the hugely popular 598. What you get is a set of headphones that are supremely comfortable both on the ears and head and so lightweight you can almost forget you are wearing them. The solid construction, well padded headband and soft ear cups enable extended listening sessions in comfort. Like the 598 before them they offer sublime crispness to the highs without harshness and an excellent wide soundstage. The overall sound is balanced with a solid bass, clear middle and crisp highs without any harshness. What they are not are bass monsters. If want booming crushing bass look elsewhere, these are for a balanced detailed sound for those who listen music not just as background noise. Nice that 2 length leads are included. Replaceable ear cup foam and solid construction mean they should last years.
