Mattress topper for comfortable support. This is a mattress topper to use over your existing mattress. I think the description is accurate and the mattress does indeed provide good medium support – not too soft and not too firm. Personally i would prefer something slightly firmer but the mattress is certainly comfortable. We use fitted sheets over all our mattresses and just about managed to fit our existing sheet over the top of the mattress & topper combo (with great difficulty). I know you can get larger fitted sheets which would accommodate the extra height better and i would definitely recommend one of those as the standard size does have a tendency to fling off one corner. The other option is to buy a flat sheet and just manually tuck this around the whole mattress – too much effort for me, but an option to consider. The mattress comes rolled up and i found it was lumpy along one end, from where it had been squeezed to fit it into the packaging. The mattress has been used for over a week now and so far the lumpiness hasn’t flattened out but i do expect it to over continued use. The other point to mention is the odour; the mattress does have this faintly ‘damp warehouse’ type of smell to it, which after a week still hasn’t disappeared.
Had no idea that such a product existed until we saw this. What an excellent idea they are as single bed mattresses usually become a little uncomfortable quite quickly in our experience, plus it is quite impossible to gauge their quality when in the shop. I once asked the shop owner of a bed emporium what exactly is the difference between disparately priced mattresses, there was no satisfactory answer. With this mattress enhancer, it no longer matters a great deal so just buy the cheapest. What clever idea though, ideal for those in rented accommodation, just roll it up and take it with you when you flit. The only minor niggle is the fairly unpleasant chemical smell that lasts a few days.
Gives extra life and comfort to a not-so-good mattress. Sealy is a recognised british brand and known primarily for its beds and divans. The sealy posturepedic classic mattress enhancer, single size has a depth of 4cm which is the minimum usually suggested as effective and necessary for comfort. Lesser products may be much thinner, perhaps as little as 2. 5cm or a composite of various foams rather than true memory foam. For the size and quality, the pricing is competetive. Supplied rolled and partially vacuum-packed for compactness and convenience in handling, after unpacking you may need to allow some time for expansion before fitting, which is quick and easy. Some curvature may initially remain, but it should flatten completely within a few hours. You should be aware that it is quite heavy even in the single size and the larger sizes may need two people to carry them. The body is memory foam and equivalent to medium firmness. Here are the specifications for the Sealy Posturepedic Classic Mattress Enhancer:
- Adds 4 cm medium layer of additional comfort to a firm mattress
- 150 X 200 cm – Fits a King Bed
- Quilted cover/ Memory Foam inside
- Removable washable cover
- Guaranteed for 3 years
Brought life into the old mattress on my step sons bed. Soon be getting rid of his bed but in the meantime this will be perfect for the next few months. The mattress topper is 4cm thick giving a very comfortable sleeping environment, you really can tell the difference.
Very comfortable, though slightly smelly – at least for a little while. . We got this to use on my son’s mattress, which is now very worn and has very noisy springs when an adult sits on it, less so for him but it’s still saggy. Being memory foam this is squeezed into a very tight package and initially doesn’t look very thick and comfortable. It does eventually expand after a few days, however, it still isn’t quite as wide as the mattress, with a noticeable gap of a centimetre or so around the edge. Another point to mention is the smell, for some reason there is a noticeable aroma, something like damp but not quite. I don’t think it is damp and probably comes from the polymers that the foam is made of; it is now fading after a week or so but still lingers. As for comfort, this is fantastic; an old, worn-out mattress, now has the feel of a soft, luxury one. It won’t return a firm mattress to how it originally was but will make it feel soft and comfortable. The springs no longer sound when you move on it and the night i spent on it, i slept very well.
Reviews from purchasers :
- I have had extremely comfortable nights since buying this mattress
- Fantastic Mattress Topper
- A true enhancement
A fine product that really does improve a mattress. This mattress enhancer is ultimately a really good product. It does enhance the single mattress we have used it on. Whilst i have not slept on it, those who have confirm that it is very nice indeed. The difference when i laid on the mattress before and after the enhancer was attached was noticeable. The enhancer fits with straps that fit over the corner of the mattress. This is easily done and keeps it from slipping. One issue is the smell of the mattress after it is unwrapped. The care instructions confirm that the smell will take several hours to go. However, i found it took days and days.
This mattress enhancer is a fantastic buy if your mattress is showing signs of age. This mattress enhancer is a fantastic buy if your mattress is showing signs of age, but not enough to justify buying a new one. It comes rolled up, and you do need to leave it out and let it naturally take shape – the instructions suggest 8-10 hours but i left it for a day just to be on the safe side. It attaches to the mattress with a wide elastic strap on each corner, which makes it very easy to fit. You will need a bottom sheet with enough elastic to cover the mattress with the enhancer on it, but most bed sheets have enough give in the elastic to allow for this i think. Alternatively you could use the old-fashioned bed sheets which will just fold under the mattress and topper. As far as comfort goes, this really has made a difference to the bed, it’s very comfy and cosy. The information with it states that it’s responsive to different temperatures, so will feel softer in warmer temperatures and firmer in cold temperatures. Since it’s a posturepedic topper, it is designed to properly support your body as you sleep, and it has certainly lived up to that so far – where the mattress was feeling a bit lumpy and uncomfortable before, this has made a noticeable and positive difference.
