Item arrived in a timely fashion and was easy to set up, sound is good. There’s no volume display on screen when turning the sound up or down but this isn’t really an issue. I’m looking at buying an all-in-one remote control in the not too distant future so i can connect my tv, sky box, roku box and soundbar all on the same controller instead of having multiple remotes, which is a real pain, but when i tried a website for one of the top end remotes a few weeks ago to check to make sure roth was listed as a device that would be picked up by the all-in-one, i found that roth wasn’t recognised, which may be a concern in the future.
Was expecting so much more after owning the original sub zero. This presents you with a better formed bar, nicer shape, sleeker, overall better looking, the features are superior over the original too but this is where it lets you down, sound quality. I ran them side by side sub zero against sub zero ii and although the features on the ii are better the original blew the new one away for sound quality. Not an audio upgrade just a technical upgrade.
Great price & great sound for the price. So much better than standard tv speakers. The only reason i gave it 4 stars is that the blue volume lights are very hard to see. (though no doubt if they were too bright that could also be an issue. And the remote is junk and only works if you are trained sniper and a have superior aiming arm. However luckily if you have good smart phone with an ir sensor on it. (galaxy s6 works) you can use the peel smart remote app. Unfortunately roth isn’t listed but i found that the toshiba settings give the best results and i no longer need the rather poor supplied remote. In the shop where we bought our lg tv recommended it, also bought an optical cable at the. Beware -purchased this soundbar because the guy in the shop where we bought our lg tv recommended it, also bought an optical cable at the same time. We have a unit and planned to put tv and soundbar on top, soundbar does not sit flat on unit with optical cable plugged in. Contacted roth and they sent a 3. 5 lead, sound quality not as good as with optical, also the sensor for the remote on the lg tv is at the bottom and with the soundbar in front of the tv, it does not work, contacted roth again awaiting response. Think carefully about the position of this unit.
Very good overall, can recommend to all but there are some things to consider. First thing is that i have compared this to the konig sb500 piano soundbar and also the yamaha yas152. Positive points:+ dim leds to not get your attention in the darfk+ amazing bass and decent stereo+ choice of rca or optical+ comes with rca and headphone cables+ 3 eq modes are more or less sufficientnegative points:- leds too dim for day use- not as good surround as the konig and yamaha- surprised no optical cable- no ir repeater like yamaha so cannot use existing tv remote to control volume- to get the most out of the bass and surround effect the volume has to a bit too highin the end, i cannot recommend this unit highly enough even at 60w rms it gives out plenty of loudness in a 10ft x 20ft room sitting about 7 ft away from the soundbar. The bass is shockingly loud considering it has not got a separate subwoofer and in a room with concrete floor (basement) and plasterboard walls all around. It has revitalised by samsung 46′ (le46c750r2k) tv and does not make me desire a 5. 1 or any other sound accessories and it provides adequate sound for watching movies and playing games on the ps4. And no, if placed centrally it does not block the ir sensor on the tv thankfullyit has to be said that via the headphones output it sounds quite mono but the volume is controllable by the tv remote and has a louder output at max than via the optical. I hope this gives you a good insight into what this unit is like but honestly, to achieve 5star rating: manual eq mode for the audiophile, optical cable to be included and a function to map volume control by my tv remote.
Reviews from purchasers :
- I can hear voices 🙂
- Great sound and a great price
- Decent sound bar
A great improvement and very affordable. . Much improved the sound quality of a panasonic tv. Which although not bad did sound a little muffled on some films & dramas. Which does seem to be a trend these days. . Or my hearing is deteriorating?. Very useful to be able to instantly switch from movie to music to voice without going through complex menus. There is however about a 1-2 second delay between modes after the buttons are pressed. Then do purchase an optical cable it further improves things no end. You may need to turn down the volume on the tv to zero as just pressing the tv’ mute’ leaves the ‘mute’ logo on the screen on my panasonic.
There is a lot to like about the roth sub zero ii. It is substantially made and produces great sound. A couple of years ago i would never have thought about a soundbar for sound enhancement on my tv, thinking them more of a gimmick. Now i wouldn’t be without them. I say them, as the first one i purchased was the samsung hw-f350, (no bluetooth) and the second was the hw-f355, (with bluetooth). Both of these were for my samsung tv’s and they are excellent. When i decided to get one for my 37′ panasonic in the bedroom, i went for the roth, mainly because the trusted review site gave it 8/10, plus there were many very favourable amazon reviews. I also did not need a subwoofer. I have now mounted it on a very narrow shelf, about 15 inches above the tv.
