I’ve paired it with my sony w905 which has a wonderful picture but awful sound. After much wait i decided to order this what hi fi award winner. I’ve paired it with my sony w905 which has a wonderful picture but awful sound. I struggle to hear dialogue clearly with the television speakers hence the reason i purchased this. First impressions are that it is a solidly built unit, i’ve had it running for a few days now and although it is not as clear at delivering dialogue as i had hoped it is a definite improvement to what i was experiencing before. The sound is very bass heavy and not as well balanced as i’d hoped. There are some minor problems with audio sync also and i connected it via hdmi arc, on live shows it seems to struggle with syncing the audio to the picture and sometimes this can be adjusted on the remote but even then it’s not perfect. There are lots of things the unit does well especially playing music, the unit is very powerful and never fails to fill the room with a good quality sound. Blu rays are excellent with it also. I gave it three stars because it falls short on clarity for me and after reading the what hi fi review my expectations were high and not fulfilled.

Almost toddler proof and it sounds fantastic. . I moved from my surround sound system because of the arrival of a small toddlers with fingers that could find and poke speaker drivers. So i plumped for this and even for someone who had a full home cinema setup i can say that this sounds great. Negatives:unfortunately the sub keeps loosing synch with the bar – happens about once a week and i think it is due to proximity with my wifi router. I can live with this, but it is an annoyance non the less. Took a while to get the timing offset setup – but this is probably a similar scenario with most sounders of this style. The sub woofer port faces front and is perfect for small toy cars, plastic balls and plastic figurines to be inserted easily.

An excellent sound bar that is definitely worth buying. I had read many reviews about this soundbar and subwoofer package, some of which that were poor due to lipsync issues. I have now owned the sound bar for over 1 year and feel qualified to provide a review. The soundbar is exclusive to amazon and has received a best buy review from what hifi. The sound bar is very thin and can therefore be placed in front of the tv without obstructing the picture. It comes with a remote control, has various settings and has excellent sound quality. The subwoofer is particularly good for watching sport and films, but also serves its purpose for all programmes. I have had some lipsync issues, but have adjusted the sound settings on my satelite channels. This is the first sound bar i have owned, but i would certainly purchase another one.

Excellent after the firmware update. I read the reviews on various sound bars and kept coming back to this one. I ended up fitting speaker spikes and standing it on a block of granite (yes seriously). It helped a lot to cut down the excessive bassbut. . (read on)i read the manual and noticed that they advise to check it has the latest firmware. I downloaded the file and extracted it into a pen drive. Plugged into the usb on the back of the ‘bar’ and followed instructions to update the firmware. It did this successfully and the first thing i noticed was the bass was far less intrusive. Now don’t get me wrong i like bass as much as anyone but not when even the speech is boomingafter the firmware upgrade i can heartily recommend this sound bar. Oh i should mention that because it has the option of bluetooth connectivity, you can pair your phone (or your pc) and play music. When it comes to music i would say its even better that when watching tv/films/dvd.

Philips HTL5140B/12 2.1 Channel Soundbar Speaker with Wireless Subwoofer – Black : Superb sound only let down by terrible lip sync making it impossible to watch anything. Superb sound only let down by terrible lip sync making it impossible to watch anything. Alot of people seem to have this problem which says to me it is a design flaw. Emailed amazon for help but no reply so going to have to send it back.

Haven’t any of the issues highlighted by. Haven’t any of the issues highlighted by some of the reviewers below. It has worked perfect for me since i bought it last year. The one annoying feature is the auto power saving setting which switches the soundbar off after 10 minutes if it isn’t receiving a signal, i. If you pause a film for 10 minutes the soundbar turns off. By no means a massive deal, just a small annoyance. Still giving it 5 stars for the sound quality and overall input options that it provides.

Quality of sound is impressive and i can’t say i miss the speakers and wires of my old surround system. That said hdmi arc does sometimes drop out, not sure if its this unit or the sony tv.

Great sound system after a month so far. I have been using this for a month with my pc (via aux cable, doesn’t play nice with hdmi for some reason) the sound is clear on all ranges, a very enjoyable experience with a nice little remote too that has most things on individual buttons so you don’t have to mash the same button for certain settings. The touch-sensitive buttons atop the soundbar are a lovely, modern touch and the nfc bluetooth combination are astounding. Highly portable, great quality especially for its price. There’s very little reason to choose anything else if you want reasonable price, great quality, easy setup and installation. Unless you’re in the upper-market, then there’s always better. But for us normal folk who are more than happy with a very good all-round experience, i’d swear by this for long as it’ll keep up.

Great, but is there a problem with every one of these, with the bluetooth bass box connection. I self-chosen christmas present. I’ve had some issues with the bluetooth bass box making slightly strange sounds, but that might be due to all of the electrical equipment nearby. (xbox 360, xbox one, blueray player, amazon fire tv stick, xbox controllers, cordless phone, broadband router etc)i’ve now positioned it sort of next to the tv, raised off the floor, and am happy with the performance, sound quality etc. Great to be able to connect via bluetooth, line in, hdmi in and optical in, as my tv most probably only really supports the optical out from the back of the tv. I’m not sure if the bluetooth connection to the external bass box will be a problem if i relocate it to the floor again, but if so i will just have to see if this can be resolved by amazon or philips. I did take out the additional guarantee (5 years?) in case the problem occured, based on other reviewers comments i’ve read on the internet.

A touch bass heavy for music but good for films/tv which is what it’s designed for i guess.

Models i decided that this would probably be a better buy than the more ‘upmarket’ soundbars that are available. After reading the hifi magazine reviews of earlier models i decided that this would probably be a better buy than the more ‘upmarket’ soundbars that are available. I also read customer reviews and was a little concerned with the negative comments regarding sound sync and heavy base response. As it turned out there was no need for concern. I adjusted the sync at the first time of using and havent touched it since;as for the base;that is what makes a soundbar so attractive. Whether you are listening to music from your phone or watching a programme with dramatic soundtrack,it gives that added depth. If i had one complaint it would be the fact there is no hdmi/audio cable. One or the other would be a nice gesture. I had to get one and unfortunately got a cheap hdmi cable that didnt work because it was the wrong rating;it needs to be 1.

Better than any sound bar/speaker i’ve ever owned. Better than any sound bar/speaker i’ve ever owned. It does occasionally interfere with my home wifi but i think this is more about the signal in my home than the product.

Very fine soundbar with one, to me, annoying feature. . This looks good, sleek, though pretty long. The sub-woofer is very heavy and solid, and sounds it as well. The basic sound, unaltered by preferences, is extremely impressive, especially at the price. It is easy to control, the remote is good and logical and doesn’t require a genius to operate. The pamphlet supplied to set it up is basic beyond belief. The online and disk options are much more comprehensive. My main gripe is that getting totally synchronised sound and pictures is difficult and seems to require constant adjustment. I use high spec interconnects and an optical connect from a satellite dish. I’ve had no connectivity issues between bar and woofer.
