Good sound but very, very annoying to use. Having read the ‘which’ guide on buying a sound bar i drew up a list of the spec i was looking for. Sizewise this fitted the bill – its low height meant it was not in the way of the tvs remote sensor and its short length matched the width of my tv and stand. Sound quality reports where good and i have to say its not bad although suround sound is just an echo in a bathroom. However, one review i read said that the bar resets to factory setting when it is switched to standby (the bar does not switch off completely unless unplugged). I contacted philips to see if this was correct and they emphatically denied this adding that it would be pointless for this to happen. So i bought it and yep, it resets to the very low factory settings every time. I informed philips who now admitted that it does reset itself and apologised for the wrong advice. This design problem along with a very small and cheap remote control makes, this sound bar very, very annoying to use.
Very good for tv and internet radio. At first my expectations were high as i have spent £130 so streamed some music via bluetooth. The bluetooth reception was really good in my 1 bed flat even with two closed doors between my android phone and the soundbarhowever the passive sub-woofer failed to deliver low frequency response adequate to my taste at first. I positioned it according to the user manual keeping the 1m between the centre speakers and the separate sub-woofer and 10cm from the wall. I connected my ps3 and watched some bluray movies (bourne legacy: dolby dts 2. 0, driver: stereo) and straight away i started smiling. The gunshots, explosions, car chases, air plane flybys, deep tones in speech all were really good delivered. A massive improvement to my lg plasma tvs speakers. I also streamed internet radio via bluetooth which was surprisingly good while playing mp3 files over bluetooth was bad.
Sure it doesn’t have a display and adjusting the bass and treble is a bit hit and miss but for the money this is a decent bit of kit. The bluetooth works very well and the unit does sound better playing music rather than being used for tv. If you want bose quality shop elsewhere and pay bose prices. Nice kit, overblown product rhetoric (blurb). The box packages very nicely a self assembly sound bar and what looks like at first sight a thoughtfully designed sub-woofer together with a remote control and some really well thought out instructions for the non-technical. I think it would be impossible not to get this kit working. There are no technical specifications, probably reflecting the intended market. It has a rich source of inputs – it will connect to anything – usb, bluetooth, optical digital, audio (e. Sound card, laptop, tablet or mp3 player). It sits neatly under a wide screen computer monitor and sounds much better than okit would have been nice to have had sub-woofer gain control and some idea about its technical performance (frequency range, distortion etc, ’60w rms’ is fairly meaningless without tighter definition) and a little less rhetoric – it’s stereo (2. 1) not ‘virtual surround sound’ – plus if anyone knows what ‘twin tweeters for optimum clarity performance’ means other than ‘it’s stereo’ please let me know. However i particularly like its versatility, reflecting thoughtful consideration of its potential uses, which won’t include home cinema.
Solid quality and solid sound. This soundbar/ sub set is pretty decent for the price. It is a big step up from the tv speakers and easy to set up and use. Really like the added bluetooth bonus and i could not be happier. Of all of the soundbar/ sub combos i have seen at this price this one seems to be one of the more highly rated. Pros- decent sound quality- good price- easy to set up/ usecons- it maybe could be a bit louder.
Reviews from purchasers :

- Brilliant for my small back livingroom
Rich sound, infinitely better than the tv’s own speaker. The remote is fairly insensitive and you have to press the blister style buttons pretty hard. Shame it doesn’t have hdmi slot. Overall it was good for the price. Delivery time, great – speedy and well packaged.
Had a problem with the size didn’t realise. Had a problem with the size. Didn’t realise it would cover over the tv sensor. Seller, electrical_bargain, took it back without any problem.
