Philips HR1393/91 Daily Collection Chopper : Truly useful kitchen gadget

Mini Blenders
1

Excellent little electric chopper, but my preference is to have the greatest weight below so with in this case a chopper having the engine underneath so that the machine is more stable, and this is unfortunately on top. Philips is really good make that i personally feel i can rely on, but occasionally i feel they get it wrong. Perception may not be a technical feature, but it is important for users and buyers, and fair or otherwise, some things will inevitably be more important than maybe reality. The weight should be in the base. If the weight onset going to be int eh based then the base should be made of something that feels as though it s sturdy enough to support that weight, and visually and tactile wise, clear plastic doesn’t promote confidence. So, it does work as expected, very well as it is a philips product, but i found myself taking a good grip on the machine and holding it very firmly in place to prevent it from flying apart, which was totally unnecessary, just a perception issue. A week on and i am so in love with this little chopper. I don’t know how i’ve managed without this little tool. It has now earned its place of permanently out on the work top.

This mini chopper comes as a compact unit almost ready to use out of the box, it’s so simple to assemble and use. I would say however this is great for a single person or someone making a small amount of sauce, for larger quantities you do need to move up to a bigger product. That said we have made a nice pesto sauce pine nuts, basil, olive oil and parmesan cheese. The bowl need to be opened a couple of times to allow ore basil leaves to be added this was not a problem. The chopper/mixer comes in three parts a mixer bowl, a motor unit and blade they fix together easily and to operate just push down so you can chop continuously or pulse depending on what you are doing. The bowl and blades are dishwasher safe, and the motor unit is wipe clean with a damp cloth being sensible and not wiping the uk plug .

Philips HR1393/91 Daily Collection Chopper, 0.7 Litre, 450 Watt – Black : It’s a great size and does what it says on the packet. . It works like a dream, very simple to use. This is for small portions, hence if you add too much ingredients it will overflow. This is not food processor but a chopper, so don’t expect it to do what a regular food processor would do.

Truly useful kitchen gadget. This is a great chopper/blender that is a fantastic little gadget for the kitchen. The blades are ‘scythe’ type blades that curve around a central rod. You pop a guard over the top of the bowl to prevent splashes and then simply press down the top and the unit starts to work. Lift up the top and it stops. I like this because it does minimise the risk of getting fingers in the way of the blades when they chop – it just can’t happen. There’s no on/off switch or button to regulate speed – it’s just press down, lift up for operation. You don’t really need anything else to be honest. I’ve found this really useful as a mini liquidiser for preparing a bulgogi beef dish – all i do is throw in the ingredients, press down and in less than a minute everything’s pureed. 7l volume capacity is ok but i’d love to have a slightly bigger bowl. I used to have a product a little similar to this, but it had a hole in the bottom of the bowl which was a pain – this one doesn’t and it’s great when it comes to pouring out your pureed ingredients and when cleaning. Cleaing is really easy because the guard over the bowl catches most of the mess and can be removed and run under the tap. The bowl and blades can also be cleaned separately.

An excellent kitchen appliance giving great results. I was very impressed with the philips food chopper. It comes with a three pin plug for use in the uk kitchen which was a pleasant surprise and the chopper unit is very durable with a bowl which is dishwasher safe but just as easy to wash and rinse through with other items in a bowl. The chopper will not liquidise as explained in the advertising but the blades are so sharp that you can chop through vegetables, fruit and nuts in just seconds. It is excellent for making sauces and dips and i used it recently to chop up almonds, which really did only take a couple of seconds, to sprinkle on top of a trifle. I also used it to chop up some raisins and walnuts and added them to a breakfast cereal which pepped up an otherwise bland meal. I shall use it to chop up herbs later in the year to make condiments like mint sauce and basil sprinkles for pizzas. The chopper is great value for money.

Great chopped from philips which suits me perfectly. This philips chopper is perfect, just what i need with my arthritic hands. I have used it for chopping oinions, also have chopped up some boiled eggs to make an egg mayonaisse. Not too big, an ideal size for me living alone, perhaps you might need something a bit bigger for a family however this is not exactly tiny. I chopped one very large onion in it and it did the job perfectly. I can see me using this a lot i really like it. I would highly recommend this chopper for anyone like me who struggles to chop things with a knife.

Mind the issue of food ingression is a bit off-putting given the cleaning issues involved. I have a dhelia cheat chopper which is smaller, cheaper and has no issues with ingression. The large motor part ‘floats’ above the bowl which is diosconcerting. You need to press evenly to help stop food ingress. The philips dalily chopper is nicely presented and feels good quality. It’s basic with motor, blade and bowl. There’s no variable speed – one speed suits all. It’s quite large for what it is – about the size of an average kettle.

Looking very smart and neat. Looking very smart and neat, fairly efficient but sometimes i need to go over the ingredients with a spoon it as it doesn’t chop everything in the bowl even with small quantities.

As it is a brand name item so i expected it to live up to the name and be a quality item. I can say that my wife loves this and it does the job well. Well worth buying i would recommend this item.

Absolutely brilliant product. The quality is, as you would expect from philips. I tried this out today for the first time and i was pleased , as i expected to be. The quality was exceptional and the time to chop ingredients was just a few seconds and the results were just great. I had previously bought a kenwood chopper which was useless. The quality, sadly was below par with the blade unit breaking (splitting) after just a few uses over two years. I complained to kenwood and they told me that their products were very good. Never , ever buy a kenwood product. The quality just isn’t there whereas philips quality speaks for itself.
