Many plus points over the ordinary bulbs. . I have installed these bulds in a central hanging ceiling fan with a rather dark ‘art deco’ shade that completely encloses the bulbs. The results is pleasing for two main reasons – the light value produced by these bulbs, although rated the same as the ordinary bulbs remove, gives a much better light through the thick coloured glass of the shade. – the bulbs operate at a much cooler temperatature than those removed, which is safer, should extend bulb life in the enclosed space and will possibly extend the life of the shade. An added advantage is the fact that due to the long expected life of the bulbs, i will not have to go through the rather extended work of unscrewing and handling heavy parts to the ceiling assembly, on what was becoming a regular operation.
Soft even warm light output from these 3 watt led bulbs. . These are a pair of frosted candle shaped and packaged as 3 watt led bulbs. Unlike some led bulbs these are not particularly heavy. The weight of some designs caused problems in a balanced anglepoise reading lamp. At 25watt equivalents these would not be considered good emough for a reading lamp but they are a soft almost yellow light output in contrast to the harsh blue of some energy saving bulbs. If you want subdued lighting these are ideal.
This is a pack of 2 philips e14 type screw in lamp bulbs. They seem very well made and they give a good warm white 25 watt equivalent glow, whilst using just 3 watts of power. They screwed in easily to the two small lamps i put them in. They have an a+ energy rating and it says on the packaging that they last 15,000 hours each or 50,000 on/off cycles. Some led bulbs can seem harsher than normal light bulbs, but the philips ones i have had recently do not seem harsh at all and i would definitely recommend the philips ones as a brand.
Beautiful and functional – the best in eco lighting. It was a total joy to finally replace those awful ‘eco’ fluorescent bulbs in my lamps with these beauties. Instant light and warm glow instead of slow fade-in and cool, less welcoming light. I adore led lighting its immediacy, its brightness and warmth – and the fact that they all look normal – and so fit your light fittings and lamps properly. Unlike those other things which look like the product of an explosion in a glass-blowing factory – so their bottom end is normally too wide and the other bit sticks out and looks weird and ugly. No need to worry about that anymore. From now on, for me, it is led all the way. And – an added bonus – as these are not fluorescent tubes, like the other things, they are not a going to cause problems for those people who are sensitive to the flickering of fluorescent lighting. Which has to be a good thing.
First impressions are that these appear brighter at 3w than the 28w halogen bulbs they replaced but then they emit from a larger area than the clear bulbs removed so this may be an optical illusion. Without a light meter it’s difficult to tell. The bulbs are bigger than the halogen bulbs so if the fit is tight you may need to consider that before buying these. The fitting these went into is a serpentine affair and the bulbs came close to the armature. One immediate impression i recall when fitting is that the ses fitting seemed better formed than the osram bulbs they replaced and the finish generally appeared to be superior. Not something you’d see in use but the impression of quality is re-assuring and these are not much more expensive than the halogen bulbs.
Reviews from purchasers :
- Phillips LED, great quality as always
- Bright, cheap to run
- Not had a great experience with LED bulbs in the past
Impressive bulbs which do not use much electricity at all. . These bulbs have been fitted into bedside lamps. They turn on in full brightness immediately while the older fluorescent bulbs that they replace took a while to brighten up. They are only 4w each too so hardly use any electricity at all. Colour wise, they are perfect with a claimed ‘warm’ light which is perfect for my bedroom. You can’t tell they are led bulbs really, they look like old frosted incandescent bulbs.
Worth paying the extra money. I am impressed with this product. The bulb itself is far more heavy duty than a standard bulb and less likely to be easily broken. It doesn’t feel fragile the way normal bulbs are. Two things became apparent when i screwed in the bulb and turned it on. Firstly, the bulb is immediately bright – no waiting minutes as it gradually gets brighter but instant full light, secondly, this is a bright bulb, far brighter than the one i replaced it with. You’re obviously paying a bit more money than a standard bulb but with it lasting longer and being more energy efficient i feel it’s worth it.
