Great sound – good noise cancelling for most frequencies. Needs android or similar tablet to control it and set equaliser. It does not work with pc even though the pc can handle the bluetooth headset protocol – parrot don’t seem to want to go there which is a shame because i’d also like to use this as a pc headset with the laptop. Over ear design is comfy and gives good passive noise isolation. Active noise cancelling is good with engines but some vocal frequencies seem to come through as do some noises from clanking crokery (stena line premium lounge had a restaurant). I suppose it helps if there’s someone trying to talk to you but maybe less use if there are noisey kids. It excells with the engine rumble and generally keeps the rest of the world out of your hair. Neat sensor to pause the sound when you take them off and touch control for pause next/previous track and slide up/down for volume is great. Wireless range is good and then there’s the temptation to walk around but this seems to confuse the noise cancelling or the onboard mic for the headset function. If you walk about you hear a pounding sound with each footstep as the movement seems to come through as sound – might be ok with fluffy slippers instead of hard soled shoes.
Best bluetooth headphones with active noise cancelling. I bought these during my business trip to the uk to replace the broken sennheiser mm450, which i was using previously for my daily commute to work. The parrot zik is one of the few headphones with both bluetooth and active noise cancelling, which was what i was looking for. The headphone was a bit heavier than i expected, but the sound was so much better (considering the price, i am very glad they were). After using the app to set the eq to my taste, i could get very tight bass but also have it express the highs quite well. I could hear parts which were absent when listening to my previous bluetooth headphones (this is my 5th pair of bluetooth headphones). The noise cancelling was much better than mm450 but not as good as bose qc3. Using gestures to control the music was easy and it just works. I wasn’t able to check the quality of the phone calls. The problem was that with the headphones received, there was a click or a popping sound in the left ear piece, whenever i leaned my head left or right (it sounded like something was slightly loose inside).
Premium price, premium product. Everything about this product feels premium quality. First of all the design is fantastic. The ziks have a very sleek and distinctive look, which stands out compared to the army of beats clones out there. The build quality is also top notch, and exactly what you’d expect for the price. There is no creaky plastic here, in contrast to many of the alternatives. The ziks feel absolutely solid. The downside to the high quality materials is that the ziks are pretty heavy, and after a two hour commute you can really feel them weighing down on the top of your head, but then my commute is longer than mostthe battery life is pretty good. I’ve found that i need to charge every other day, so i guess i’m getting around 7-8 hours use per charge. You can connect up the ziks and use them as a wired headphone if the battery is dead, but a word of warning on this is that you don’t get to use any of the equaliser settings when the battery is dead and the sound quality is very poor in comparison. Not being known for my technical prowess, or sense of style, i would not typically have considered these headphones – however having received them as a gift i was duty bound to use them. . I am so glad i diddespite being packed full of amazing tech, they are so intuitive, you change the volume by sliding your finger up or down the ear-pad. The app is amazing, you can change the soundstage depending on the type of music you listen too. The noise cancelling makes a real difference, only used them on a train to date but looking forward to a real test on my flight to ireland in a week or two. In summary, they sound great, the battery life on bluetooth is good and they even make me look cool – no mean feat.
Amazing headphones – worth it, so absolutely worth it. Have had bose qc3s for the last 8 years and i wouldn’t have expected to be swayed so easily. I’ve been eyeing the parrot ziks since they came out and when i started to look for a wireless alternative finally decided to go for these instead of the dre wireless. I’m surprised how clean the sound is as compared to other noise cancelling phones, without taking depth off the music. I love being able to tune the settings with the app – thank you lou reed- and the concert hall setting is great. Like that i can also control my zikmu speakers with the app. I’ve been listening to different music on different settings and love the clarity, depth and width (concert hall). I’ll see how it goes over the next few weeks. The headphones feel very comfortable, i haven’t figured out to adjust the fitting but it works for me anyway. Won me over instantly and i’m annoying myself by constantly changing tracks and volumes. Downside – i think they are massive. Especially in the case i’m not sure it will fit into my handbag when i’m travelling – i usually don’t even take the case for my bose headphones because that’s already big but the zik case is definitely too big. It looks protective but not much space for a liquids bag after this. Oh and i love the rose gold / grey- beautiful.
Reviews from purchasers :
- PERFECT Love the style
- A cut above the rest
- Good but in the long run miss out on being truly excellent
Noise cancelling is instant and very effective. I used them on a 9+hour flight. There was a usb to charge from but they did last practically all the way. I just topped them up before landing. The app is a great addition. I always set up the app to suit what im listening too. Plenty of bass and i cant hear them distort. They are durable and very comfortable. Can be used passive, via bt, either with nc or not.
Parrot zik cancels out competitors with science, but succombs to sennheisser in the sound dept. I’m a gadget addict, so when my wife said she wanted her 4th set of headphones in 18 months because of wiring malfunction, i opted for bluetooth. I search for the best on market bluetooth expecting it to be an updated version of the sennheiser 450x i had owned for 2 years. To my surprised the parrot zik and a logitech headset topped most reviews as best money can buy. When i read the spec on the zik, being the gadget freak i am it was the obvious winner based on pure functionality. The build quality on the zik and the the design is outstanding so i can’t see my wife breaking these anytime soon. Unfortunately i am also an audiophile and i can conclusively say, the pair of sennheiser mm 450x i’ve had for 2 years embarrasses the parrot in terms of sound quality when wired straight into my bushmaster dac headphone amp at home. All the stereo separation and and atmosphere you loose when you go bluetooth can at least be regained when using the 450x (un-powered) and wired for home listening. In this mode the parrot zik sounds like a curtain has been drawn across the speakers so all you get is unclear midrange, muffled undefined bass and highs that have gone to st elsewhere. In powered mode i fiddled with settings for 4 hrs to try and simulate the 450x in un-powered mode.
