Very difficult to set up and there is a lot to learn about itrecording film is excellent but have yet to get shots on my computer.

Panasonic hdc-sd9eb-s hd camcorderthis is the 5th panasonic camcorder i have bought over 17 years. All are working as well as they did when new. This camcorder has easily the best pictures, and the stabiliser does a superb job without degrading the picture quality. I have also bought the optional disk burner and this works superbly. Things are not so good when it comes to sound. All my previous camcorders have external microphone sockets and the sound obtainable is better than the built-in microphones on this (or any other small) camera can achieve. As it stands, the camcorder is an excellent tourist product. With better sound facilities it would be good enough for serious work.

I’ve had this camcorder about 2 months now & found it to be a really good buy, i’m no professional so the ease of use & easy handling played a large part in my decicion to buy this model. I would say the picture quality is fantastic although i have not tried on a hd tv as yet, i’ve not really mastered the night mode setting and found the footage to be a bit blurry, shaky, but that may just be me. I was not sure if the 8gig card would be sufficient but them doubts have been eliviated as i transfer onto my pc at regular intervals, i will say the panasonic software is very basic and just about good enough for transfering onto pc,the playback feature only works from the when the camera is connected , the edit facility is dire, especially when like me i keep forgetting to turn the camera off & record my feet wandering around. You really do need third party software to get the most out of the footage. I found the battery life to be very good , the menu system is nice and easy to navigate but i’ve found the little joystick button to be a bit fiddely to use. Sound recording is excellent with very litte residual interferance. Overall i’m really pleased with this camera & would recomend it to anyone who’s not interested in a really complicated professional model.

Great camera – stupid design flaws. Been using this for a couple of months now and am impressed with its picturesits so good it seems a little cynical to have not included a mic socket – probably not to harm sales of their pro cameras. Obviously – you should be aware that you will need mega free memory for hd footage converted from avchd files – having a gig per minute is about right. But external hard drives are cheap and raw avchd is small enough to burn to discbut there are design features that really annoy:* the controls are fiddly and the menus not very intuitive. * the directional nipple seems obtusely designed to be uncomfortable and is sited right next to the bump stop for the screen which makes it confusing to work the controls without looking directly at them. Minor irritations i will admit. But the big stupid comes with getting the movies off the camera:*you can’t take movies off the camera on battery powerthis means plugging in the mains lead. But this is obscurely hidden so you have to actually unplug the battery to stick in the oversized power cableok, you think, at least i can recharge the battery while i am removing my clips – but no. Plug in the lead to the transformer/charger and the battery won’t charge. When are you ever away from a power point. Well – if you are using a laptop on the move and want to check your footage for example. So you have to buy a usb-sd reader that will cope with big file sizes. So – not reasons to choose another camera (good luck at this price), but – especially if you are used to mac levels of design, you may find the experience a little flawed by stupid little things.

Excellent product – so small yet so able. I was attracted to panasonic by the small size and lovely asthetics of their models and nearly purchased an sd7 at £180. However after much research it had to be the sd9 for its far superior picture quality, long battery life and advanced features. I ordered on amazon prime with a free 8gb sd card for a bargain price of £424 – i had seen it in currys that day for £549. It was delivered the next day and after charging the battery for 2 hours i was up and running, running to my mac that is as i was really concerned that it wouldn’t work based on all the reviews. I plugged it in to the usb and nothing happened then a message came up that i needed to connect the ac adapter to the camera and there it was on my mac. I opened imovies and imported my first test footage no problem at all. For info my mac book was bought last october when leopard was released. I have had the camera 2 days now and it is very impressive i have also put the card in my ps3 and picture quality is top notch – i do not have a hd tv as my crt is excellent and the pictures are superb. The size and ease of use is fantastic and you will not regret this purchase.

Panasonic HDC-SD9EB-S HD Camcorder : This camcorder has replaced my sony handycam, and it was well worth the money. Compact, easy to use, good clear pictures and ,unlike my sony, the battery lasted for the whole time i was filming. It’s so neat that it fits in the palm of your hand, which is great for my children aswell.

It’s been a while since i bought this item but i have no regrets. Picture quality is outstanding and so easy to use. If i have any gripes it would be the button size with my huge hands it’s awkward but i’ve gotten used to it and it’s sometimes hard to aim using just the screen but then i’m used to an eye level recorder. All together a great machine. Delivery time was very good.

Was looking at buying a camcorder for about 6 months, easy option would have been the sony. But did research and found that this scored as well if not better. The only down side is the lack of an internal hard-drive, but the model up has one (60gb). With the way memory cards are growing and reducing in price, the weight reduction of this one made it a good compromise. Great images, good sound (5. 1) and easy oprtation make this a good family machine, light, portable and well priced. Purchase the 16gb class 6 cards for the storage and data transfer rate as the full 1080p requires it. Sony equivelant is only 1080i.

Good camera following on from the mini-dv panasonic camcorders. A year on – just try buying a spare battery for less than 25% of the total camera cost. I have owned panasonic devices for years now but am rapidly being disillusioned by the high cost of a battery and the general unavailability of a reasonably priced spare battery.

Like many at amazon i spend many hours trawling through reviews on the right camcorder. Having already owned home user sd camcorders by jvc, canon, sony and panasonic i rate the panasonic best for quality and sony for ease of use. I was planning to get the sd panasonic-gs320 which has a good which report write up and shoots to mini-dv which is what i am used to as i like to quickly archive everything i shoot and it gives good raw quality. Mini-dv of course is being phased out by many manufacturers including panasonic and when i saw i could get a hd for less than £100 more i was intrigued. The main downside i saw was getting used to the new recording medium of sd or hdd, and the ability to use the raw footage easily with the apparent lack of good software for editing and the amount of storage and processing power needed. I preferred sd (to hdd) as i like the discipline of recording 1hr chunks onto removable media- the plan being to download to dvd when approx 4. 5gb (approx c 40mins) recordings had been made. My choice then boiled down to the sony hdr-tg3e and the panasonic hdc- sd9eb and here again the which report rated the panasonic higher which concurred with my own experience of products from each manufacturer. Having received the panasonic with the usual excellent amazon efficiency i have been extremely pleased with my purchase and the ease of use and the picture quality.

I have used this video since christmas and for the size and money it is a fantastic piece of kit. As with all things modern, it does far more than any normal person could ever hope to use or understand. Really great pictures, good sound and useful technical features, like warning of low light, paning too fast, hand shake warning etc, very light in the hand and with logical controls and menues. The catch is that the recording technology is based on ‘blue ray’ which means the typical dvd player in the average home will not play or record the videos. You can of course play the vide on your television with the leads that are provided. It’s time to buy yet another piece of kit. You can of coures burn said disk on your pc but not many people have the pc plugged into the television. When will manufacturers learn that we customers are fed up with being expected to keep buying new technology every time they decide to update/move on.

Panasonic hdc sd9eb-s hd camcorder. I picked this camcorder after downloading a camcorder evaluation report by “which?”. Overall, compared with the others mentioned in the report, it seemed to offer the best value for the price. Initial impressions are very favourable. The camcorder is so compact that i didn’t know whether to buy a camera bag or stick it in my pocket. Although i have still much to learn about making videos, three outstanding features appeal about the panasonic hdc sd9eb-s hd camcorder:1. It takes surprisingly good pictures in poor indoor lighting conditions;2. Videos look great in hd on panasonic viera tv – you simply insert sd card into tv3. Its got a 700 x zoomnegatives?. “panasonic hdc sd9eb-s hd camcorder”.

Excellent camcorder but joystick control could be better. Having never owned a camcorder before i wasn’t sure what to get. I was looking for a point and shoot camera to record footage of my children. The panasonic sd9 was my second attempt at buying an hd camcorder. My first was the samsung hmx-10 which was rubbish (see my review of it). A couple of weeks have passed since my purchase and i have been very impressed. Outside the quality cannot be faulted and my recent videos in the snow are outstanding. Indoors the camera performance was satisfactory if the room is well lit by artifical light – a couple of 40w bulbs aren’t going to cut it. I would rate 5 stars if the joystick control for navigating menus and recorded footage was better. The only good thing about the samsung was the touch screen.

Great camcorder – but you’ll need a new pc. . Pros: very good picture quality. Light, small and robust body, gives you a couple of hours hd on a 16gb card (the transend 16gb card works fine transcend 16gb sdhc class 6 memory card). Image stabilisation works very well on long zoom. Cons: you have to take the battery out to plug in the a/c adaptor and hdmi, but in practice this hasn’t been a problem as the battery lasts a long time. However, you will need a new high spec pc with plenty of memory to edit the footage. With pinnacle 12 on a dual core 2 intel e8400 with 4gb ram and a radeon hd 4850 graphics card it is still sluggish.

+) really outstanding quality videos – light to hold, good battery life, fantastic playback on 42″ pannasonic plasma-) not so good if transferred to mac as achvd files, lots of interlacing and dodgy playback so will have to use sd cards for storage at the moment but not too much of a problem. The hdmi socket is ridiculously placed. You have to take the batttery out to plug the lead in so it has to be attached to the mains to playback on tv, also, the battery will not charge if the lead (for the camera) remains plugged in. Have a star off for crap design flaw but otherwise an outstanding product.

This is just a quick review – the others are pretty accurate on the general quality of this camera. I wanted to assure apple owners that this camera works well with imovie ’08 (so long as you are up-to-date with your apple software updates). I originally intended to buy the panasonic gs330, but the lure of 1080p was too much. The only downside i’ve noticed so far is the low-light performance. I don’t know how it compares to other cameras (like the canon hv-6), but dark shades can appear very blotchy and pixelated. Other than that, i’m pretty happy with it.

Wanting to replace my sony digital8 camcorder with a high definition model i spent a lot of time deciding on which makemodel to go for. I was a little unsure of sd card cameras purely because i was unfamiliar with this technology and was worried about the cost of sd cards but after much time on the internet i found 16gb sdhc cards were now less than £19. 00 and sd card camcorders were getting great reviews so i went for it and ordered the panasd9eb. Amazon delivered it within 48 hours (top marks) and all i can say is ‘what a camcorder’ the recordings are simply stunning on our 42″ plasma and just as good on the pc. I purchased a high capacity sdhc memory card reader (£9)which makes transferring to pc much easier, the supplied software for editing and playing back recordings is easy to use. The camera is small, neat and comfortable to use. The menu joystick is, as other reviewers have noted, a little fiddly if you have large hands but you soon get used to it. I have no negative comments for this item, it is a little beauty but do budget for additional sd cards, a case and a pc card reader. Still photos are good but they are only 2.

We use this as a hd mini cam in a tv show. This camera is small and compact, we have been using it as a mini cam to make a tv show on sky channel 413, “the fast lane”its very user friendly, zoom is super smooth. Picture quality is razor sharp in good lighting, darker lighting it doesnt cope with as well and picture becomes a little fuzzy like most cameras. Recording to sdhc saves hours of digitizing for the editor, you can delete shots you dont want. The remote control works very well. Build quality is rock solid. 1 microphone produces reasonable sound, the only thing thats stops this camera getting the full 5/5 is the fact there is no mic input on it. Still photos are very sharp and clear. What got me the moment it came out of the box was the weight, its so lighti will be testing it out in a waterproof case soon as a minicam filming kitesurfing as its light enough to mount in the kite its one of the best quality camera’s your going to get for this kind of money.
