Very good high quality audio streamer. This is a streaming device to play high quality audio on a hi-fi via a lan or wi-fi connection. It has an advantage over bluetooth as it can play both flac and wav files owing to the bandwidth available over wi-fi. When connected to our yamaha amp via the optical digital output the difference between this device streaming wav files and a bluetooth receiver playing mp3 files was clearly audible. Set up was relatively straightforward but this is because we have already set up some all3 speakers and were familiar with the process involved. The instructions provided by panasonic with the device are somewhat vague but there is lot of information available on the internet should problems occur. The qualcomm allplay jukebox app is a better option than the panasonic app for control of the unit as it is more intuitive to use.
Disappointing – can only use spotify if on premium. A panasonic product for me should always be a safe bet in terms of value and also premium quality. The concept of this had so much promise but i was left disappointed for a few reasons. It took me 3 attempts to get connected to the wireless router. Instructions were pretty bland and certainly not the easiest. The real spoiler is that in order to listen to spotify on this, you have to have the premium version of spotify. . So disappointingalso if you’re listening to tracks, if someone else wants to add a track, it takes over your tracks and puts theirs in front. Pointlessthe pricetag on this is outrageous, i’d struggle to justify £99 let alone £199. It is a small piece of kit and sadly that’s one of the only real positives.

I had it set up and working. I had it set up and working in 10 minutes, the network set up was surprisingly simple and painless, the app set up on my old note 2 without fuss. I have this set up through a very old pioneer separates system and as you might expect the sound is fantastic, even streaming lesser rate mp3’s through it. Brilliant bit of kit breathing fresh life into an old hi-fi system. Well worth it, i especially like the network port on the back giving you a variety of options for connecting it up.
This is a simple box to allow one to connect one’s old school hifi system to the modern cloud music. You take the thing and hook it up to the hifi system. You need to connect the unit to the home wifi network and follow immediately the update firmware advice on the leaflet. Those who fail to do this seem to have problems. Once that’s done, you can put the panasonic music app on your phone or tablet and begin to stream music to the hifi speakers. This is really a stopgap solution. Having perhaps spent a lot of money on a hifi only a few years ago, this dinky object allows you to connect the thing to the latest cloud and subscription music services. What i don’t like are the panasonic apps, which are not intuitively designed, or the fact that this is something else you have to plug in and take up room on your countertop. Other than that, it’s a good, temporary solution to the problem, but one that will resolve itself in future as later hifi models will undoubtedly have this facility built in.
Given that this can be found for about 1/5th of the price of the equivalent product offered by the well-known multiroom competitor i think it’s an absolute steal. Seems a little unfair that most reviews are critical because the user didn’t understand what the product was for in the first place. Sound quality to my hifi via optical using spotify connect is superb. The panasonic app is now actually quite good (still needs an android homescreen widget though). The radio app from qualcomm now actually works but remains pretty naff. The overall lack of polish of these apps compared to the competitor is counteracted by the greatness of spotify connect; i don’t even need to enable wifi to start it playing from my phone, and moving from room to room is incredibly easy. Keeping within the spotify interface is greatly preferable to me. Output is synced nicely with the other all devices but as word of warning my hifi adds a fraction of a delay so i wouldn’t want another all speaker in the same room for this very reason. All the all-series devices i have seem to be rock-steady connection wise; using a good router on a split 5ghz ssid with each unit assigned a permanent ip address does the trick.
Panasonic ALL1 Network Audio Connector : This is part of the panasonic’s attempt at a sonos killing multi room audio system. This little unit allows your existing sound sources to be added to the panasonic allplay system and has a high end 192khz/24bit dac to allow analogue devices to be connected to their mobile phone app controlled dual frequency wifi audio network. Once up and running and connected to other allplay then it is possible to stream music across the house to speakers in different rooms and even play different streams in each room. I already own the sc-all8, sc-all3 speakers and now with this device i can wirelessly steam music from my smartphone, tablet, laptop or similar device as well as access tunes from music subscription services. The system in general works very well but it must be said that the same musical experience can be achieved using cheaper but less integrated devices and services. For those already committed to the panasonic allplay eco system then this is a great buy but for those considering entering the streaming music arena be aware that there are cheaper alternatives out there.
