Navman iCN530 GPS Navigation System With UK Mapping : All in all a very good product

Easy to use, simple to software, mine was preloaded with uk and europe.

The greatest gps i have employed, and yetso around, but so considerably. General, this is a fabulous tiny unit, and i have no doubt that in the 4 weeks i have owned it, it has justified the outlay. On the complete, the unit is intuitive in its operation. Its potential to ‘see’ satellites is phenomenal – as yet another reviewer has stated, it operates even inside of the property occasionally. The again-on-monitor re-routing purpose is very quickly – there’s none of this ‘perform a u-change when possible’ which tomtom will give you for 5 miles right before accepting that you are going a distinct way. The feminine voice is easy to hear, even at two stops underneath full volume (the male voices are fewer very clear over the engine/highway noise, but the option choice of the female voice is fairly satisfactory). So it is a quite outstanding piece of kit. And but, its shortcomings are noteworthy, and by now just about legendary. The abc input keyboard is these a pain.

At this value i will not know what men and women hope. Let us start off off by stating that for the rate of this unit you can’t go incorrect. If persons assume it to have the exact performance as the most recent and biggest tomtom at less than a 3rd of the price then they require to choose a fact check out. I purchased this exclusively as i was relocating to london and definitely failed to know my way about so needed to get some enable on that entrance. I have now examined it in and around newcastle and have had a honest handful of ventures out with it in london and even the distant sections in close proximity to the m25 it will work brilliantly. The first time out in an area i did not know i failed to know what to expect. I wanted a trip from harefield to b&q in watford. I programmed in the postcode for in which i lived and set it to property, then set in the postcode for the b&q shop i got off the net. Off via some roadways wherever i experienced no strategy wherever i was heading and all of a sudden b&q appeared on my appropriate hand facet. Took a incorrect turning on the way back, no issue. Within just about five seconds the satnav had plotted a new class for me and told me accurately which way to head to get me again on observe. Some winding streets afterwards, all over again not obtaining a clue where by i was. . Wow there is the entrance to the medical center i wanted to be at. I have seen reviewers criticising the start off up time?. Nicely it usually takes involving 20-40 seconds to uncover the suitable satellites which you would almost certainly spend for a longer period performing out the place you were being likely from a map if you failed to know. Not accurately the crimp on yyour time to conserve receiving dropped is it?. What about the reduced speaker sounds i’ve witnessed outlined??.Effectively i had this on with my radio at very low volume and could make it out high-quality.Here are the specifications for the Navman iCN530 GPS Navigation System With UK Mapping:

I looked for awhile prior to purchasing the icn530 which has just been launched in australia. Gripes i have heard about the tomtom currently being much better. This may be, i will not have one so i don’t know. What i do know is that the navman is significantly more affordable and have individuals that put the icn530 down taken pricing into account?all i can say is that the icn530 does every thing it is intended to do and does it effectively. I have deducted one particular star as there is no a/c charger. I spoke to navman and they claimed to just cost from the 12 volt socket in the motor vehicle or from the personal computer. Which is absurd as a single of the most effective characteristics of the icn530 is its portability and if you will not have a 12 volt socket or pc useful, it are unable to be billed.

Reviews from purchasers :

  • All in all a very good product
  • The best GPS I have used, and yetso near, but so far!
  • Overall very good, but with a few major shortcomings

I had been looking for a sat nav for a though and i did not need anything extravagant just a person to get me from a to b and i finally arrived throughout this, just after doing abit of investigation i went forward and bought it and i have to say it has hardly ever bought me dropped so significantly. It has received me everywhere you go i essential to be. Granted it perhaps won’t have bluetooth, music player and so on but for having you to your detination i feel its wonderful.

Overall really good, but with a couple of major shortcomings. General this is a really excellent device. It is great price, the display is bright and apparent even in sunny situations, the maps are fantastic and it arrives with total postcode look for and european street-amount maps. There is a stylus incorporated which stows neatly in the facet of the unit. There are nevertheless two things that allow the device down. First of all when you decide on to have the units exhibited in miles fairly than kilometres as i guess most folks in the uk will, the units used are feet and miles. Yards are never ever used so you get instructions to flip appropriate in 900 feet for case in point. Of course the software was designed for the us and not the uk industry and it is genuinely annoying. The other dilemma is the display screen employed to tap in addresses to navigate to is in alphabetical get.

I had been looking for a sat nav for a while and i didn’t need anything fancy just one to get me from a to b and i eventually came across this, after doing abit of research i went ahead and bought it and i have to say it has never got me lost so far. It has got me everywhere i needed to be. Granted it maybe doesn’t have bluetooth, music player etc but for getting you to your detination i think its great.

At this price i don’t know what people expect. Let’s start off by saying that for the price of this unit you cannot go wrong. If people expect it to have the same functionality as the latest and greatest tomtom at less than a third of the price then they need to take a reality check. I bought this specifically as i was moving to london and obviously didn’t know my way around so wanted to get some help on that front. I have now tested it in and around newcastle and have had a fair few ventures out with it in london and even the remote parts near the m25 it works brilliantly. The first time out in an area i didn’t know i didn’t know what to expect. I needed a trip from harefield to b&q in watford. I programmed in the postcode for where i lived and set it to home, then put in the postcode for the b&q store i got off the internet. Off through some roads where i had no idea where i was heading and all of a sudden b&q appeared on my right hand side. Took a wrong turning on the way back, no problem. Within about 5 seconds the satnav had plotted a new course for me and told me exactly which way to head to get me back on track. Some winding roads later, again not having a clue where i was. . Wow there is the entrance to the hospital i needed to be at. I have seen reviewers criticising the start up time?. Well it takes between 20-40 seconds to find the relevant satellites which you would probably spend longer working out where you were going from a map if you didn’t know. Not exactly the crimp on yyour time to save getting lost is it?. What about the low speaker noise i’ve seen mentioned??.Well i had this on with my radio at low volume and could make it out fine.

Haven’t used any other satnav device. I thought until i got this one i did not need a satnav but have changed my mind now. It is great, although, uk map is not quite up to date. A recent trip to bedford, i found out that roundabouts have been changed to traffic lights. I have come across this on few occassions, makes me wonder how old the maps are. But then again it has been great in getting me home or finding an address, back on track works a treat too. Can be configured for the quickest or shortest route (or bit of both) and motorway or urban roads. I loaded speed camera info from pocket gpsworld and that works very well (albeit with few false alarms – may be mobile camera locations or cameras on the opposite direction).

The female voice is easy to hear, even at two stops below full volume (the male voices are less clear above the engine/road noise, but the alternative option of the female voice is quite acceptable). So it is a quite remarkable piece of kit. And yet, its shortcomings are noteworthy, and by now almost legendary. The abc input keyboard is such a pain.

After much searching and reviewing i took the plunge and went for the icn530,and mighty glad i am as well. This is a top notch sat nav system, worked straight out of the box and although it comes with extensive instructions,i was able to fiddle around and set it up without any problems. It is easy to set up a route and the map is displayed with clear instructions, voice instructions could do with being a bit louder but they,re clear enough. Mapping is easy and points of interest come in very handy. It also has street level european mapping which comes on a supplied cd which down loaded onto a 512mb sd card in minutes and proved very handy and accurate on a recent trip to the backwaters of france, very impressive feature. You are able to set up preferences as to how you would like a journey ie quickest or shortest way, more or less motorway journeys and more country or more urban roads, several times i was taken down roads more akin to tracks but i always ended up where i wanted to be. Back on track has also been tried out several times and has yet to fail me. I have no gripes whatsoever no wrong turns or missed turns so far and a nifty little device which comes in an attractive carry wallet with touch screen controlling which is well worth splashing out for.

I looked for awhile before buying the icn530 which has just been released in australia. Gripes i have heard about the tomtom being better. This might be, i don’t have one so i don’t know. What i do know is that the navman is substantially cheaper and have those that put the icn530 down taken pricing into account?all i can say is that the icn530 does everything it is meant to do and does it well. I have deducted one star as there is no a/c charger. I spoke to navman and they said to just charge from the 12 volt socket in the car or from the computer. That’s ridiculous as one of the best features of the icn530 is its portability and if you don’t have a 12 volt socket or computer handy, it cannot be charged.

All in all a very good product. Really impressed with this little unit. I’m into in-car gpss since the early days and been using various systems over the years. Icn 530 has all the features and capabilities you could ask from a compact/handheld gps system, and even more. Most impressive and outstanding features are:very sensitive gps receiver and response (it can even pick up signals inside the house). Very quick re-routing (back-on-track feature). Clear, bright, high resolution screen. Routing can be configured very precisely with many alternative routes. You can set to:quickest – – – – shortest. Motorways more often – – – – less often. Urban road more often – – – – less often. Also, the routing can be fine tuned even further with ‘avoid area’ and ‘multi-stop trip’ features. There is also a ‘route simulation’ feature so that you can see how long and how far, you paricular journey is going to take even before you start your journey.

Overall this is a great little unit. Good value, great screen easy to use and very compact. My only gripe is that the volume just doesn’t go high enough. Maybe it’s just me, or the fact that i seem to only travel on busy road’s in busy area’s, but sometimes i just can’t hear the spoken instructions even with the volume as high as it will go. That aside though, this is a good unit, well worth the money and totally up to the task at hand.

Forget other brands, the navman has it sussed. The clearest maps of all the navigation units out, the 3d turn-by-turn detail is fantastic. Very quick to pick up satellites, full post-code search, smart back-on-track function that actually works.

I have recently purchased one of these. Looking to buy a sat nav, i would highly recomend the navman icn530. In my line of work i can be covering anywhere between landsend to bristol & everywhere in between. The unit is well desiged and easy to use. No problems with navagating to those out of the way places, beleive me i’ve been there. Even if you miss a turn and keep on going it will rcalculate a new route to your destination. It has pre installed uk & irland maps (good). It has full 8 digit postcode, good for finding those houses with nams and no house numbers. Also comes with european maps on cd and ability for downloading pragram updates and purchase more maps.

Overall very good, but with a few major shortcomings. Overall this is a very good unit. It is good value, the screen is bright and clear even in sunny conditions, the maps are good and it comes with full postcode search and european street-level maps. There is a stylus included which stows neatly in the side of the unit. There are however two things that let the unit down. Firstly when you select to have the units displayed in miles rather than kilometres as i guess most people in the uk will, the units used are feet and miles. Yards are never used so you get instructions to turn right in 900 feet for example. Obviously the software was developed for the us and not the uk market and it is really irritating. The other problem is the screen used to tap in addresses to navigate to is in alphabetical order.
