I wanted one of these having read a very good review in the telegraph, and saw this one at a good price . It certainly meets my expectations – the quality of video is excellent, in varying light levels, and road signs and number plates can be clearly read when playback is paused to test this, and i find the location (in latitude and longitude) and speed (in km/hr) of interest. I have not (yet) tested the device in an emergency situation .I am using it with a 32gb memory card, which provides plenty of room for storage. I do still have reservations about the installation – i am using blutack to fix the power wire around the windscreen, which seems to work well, and my car (’04 ford focus) has two power outlets within easy reach – however, i have my ‘hands free’ permanently in one of them, which calls for even more wires . I do wish, though, that the power supply had a usb end rather than the big charger that it does (which can get in the way) – i think it must be possible to replace the wire with a usb to mini usb lead, but you still need the ‘charger’ to provide the right amperage for the device. I deliberately chose this mio model, rather than the deluxe version because i could see no point in having a speed camera facility (the only obvious difference) since i use a satnav as well. The mio is a bit more expensive than many such devices – but a lot cheaper than many others.

Excellent image quality and very intuitive to use, also power cable is long enough to reach right around the edge of the windscreen on my fiat motorhome.

Fits neatly next to the mirror with the display visible. It is plugged into the cigarette lighter so always turns on when the car is started. Replays are good with ability to store parked files as well as driving ones or reduce the parked storage to leave more room for driving files. Feel securer after having had a moped hit me and they didn’t report it so i nearly had to share the blame but the other driver’s insurance eventually paid up. Here are the specifications for the Mio Technology MIO MiVue Drive 50 LM Dash Cam and Sat Nav:

  • ADAS features: Forward Collision Warning System (FCWS) and the Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)
  • Lifetime map updates and lifetime safety camera updates, IQ routes and parking assistance
  • Full Europe maps (44 countries), includes 16 GB micro SD card

Great product, very easy to set up. Great product, very easy to set up, nice compact size. Windscreen bracket nice and short so you can get it mounted tight up to your rear view mirror. Clear pictures, parking facility very handy and you can just leave the unit switch on and it will switch in and out of parking mode soon as you start moving, so plug it in and just leave it.

It is a nice size and the buttons along the bottom edge are easy to use – in fact prefer them to a touch screen. Just make sure you use a 10 card.

Reviews from purchasers :

  • Smart little camera!
  • Record all your journeys.
  • Mid range quality.

Fantastic value, works perfectly. . Have now bought three of these, the images and video are very good quality even at night. In these days of ‘crash for cash’ i don’t believe anyone should be without this brilliant piece of kit but don’t be fooled into buying cheaper dashcams which don’t have gps incorporated as this one proves where you were and how fast you were travelling. This is great value for money, great protection against scammers and could save your insurance deductible and protect your no claims bonus. ### update ###just purchased another for my son who was caught out by (let’s just say) foreigners in a crash for cash in his van. It cost him a £600 deductible. A clear road at less than 30mph in single line road works, driver in front stopped dead for absolutely no reason so there was nowhere to swerve without danger, there were of course no witnesses and the scammer claimed for all sorts of spurious injuries etc. If he had had one of these at the time the scam would have been clear and he would have saved his ncb and his £600.

Good but i have found 1080p uses a lot of card memory. There is no settings to record in 720p, i have found with other dash cams i have that 720 is just as clear.

This is one of the better camaras. This will be the 3rd camara i have bought for my vehicles, whilst at first looks a little complicated once in position and plugged in it works itselfexelent picture when viewed on computer screen.

Bought as a gift for christmas for my sister, she seems to find it easy to use. The camera lense seems pretty good and captures everything and more as it’s really wide. She puts it to the left of the interior mirror. Only thing she doesn’t like about it is that you can’t leave the mount up and take the camera down as it’s too much hassle.

I have a ‘start -stop’ vehicle and sat nab keeps. I have a ‘start -stop’ vehicle and sat nab keeps switching off when in this vehicle eco mode. Works well out side this start – stop mode.

It has been as good as expected. I bought two, one for the front and one for the back. The one on the front has been stuck since i bought it. The one on the back keeps dropping off every few days. Other than that, it has been as good as expected.

At first i thought the satnav was too large but i managed to position it so that it rested on the top of the dashboard which kept it out of my line of vision. The manual that comes with the unit is pretty useless but the user can find their own way through the functions without too much trouble. The voice of the satnav is not quiet loud enough and you have to turn down the radio a bit but if you’re in a truck that might not be sufficient. The second choice voice is the best for clarity. The screen image is not bad but it does pick up reflections which weaken the picture. The dash camcorder records okay but i haven’t tried to download it to my computer yet, i did read somewhere that you have to get special software to do this. The satnav doesn’t pick up at least half of the fixed speed safety cameras and misses all of the average speed cameras, so don’t rely on it. I might get a separate unit for this. I tow a caravan a lot and the restricted vehicle size function works very well and has been tested a couple of times and this was why i gave it the extra star to make it three star judgment.

Nice, solid, does not move in auto motion, clear image and playback, took a while to figure out how to do upgrades.

Reasonable quality but poor in some areas. Suction mount far too big (compared to some others) for discreet mounting, had to make my own plastic mount to be able to mount it where i wanted it,unit gets very hot, charge cable should be at least another 12″ longer to reach most cigar terminals. The free camera updates is a bit of a no no at the moment been trying to download updates for 3 days now,and still not suceeded yet, very difficult, some files arrived as “bin” files and require a program to unwrap them which did not work ( some reviews complain that they do not exist) beginning to think so myself. At this time the sound on playback does not work even though it is selected in the menue.

The wi-fi is on the slow side but i was able to transfer images to my phone. This will come in very handy in case of an accident as most of my days at work is on in traffic. Very happy and excited about this kit still early days though. Amazon ace for punctuality delivered spot on time🖒😃.

Expensive but well worth it. . Nice having the front and back cam. Having the back cam was handy after being hit in the back and the driver just driving on after i pulled over. Only thing i found with it at the min is that the holder for it is loose and the cam tens to move a little if i go over speed bumps and i have to reset it.
