Only disappointment is that they are now selling a performance base. Only disappointment is that they are now selling a performance base which i would gladly buy, is twice as fast in 3d benchmarks.

Got my surface about two months ago and i love it. Powerful, quick, i love using onenote in tablet mode with the pen and writing my notes. Fab keyboard, great battery life and i am so glad i upgraded.

Microsoft Surface Book 13.5 inch Touchscreen Laptop (Intel Core i7-6600U, 8 GB, 256 GB SSD, NVIDIA 1 GB Integrated Graphics, BT4/AC, Wi-Fi, Touch, Windows 10 Pro) – Silver

  • 13.5 inch PixelSense touchscreen display
  • 6th Gen Intel Core i7
  • Surface pen and keyboard included
  • Windows 10 Pro operating system

The best laptop/hybrid ever. This is how laptops should be. 🙂 the i7 is super fast, windows 10 is user-friendly and intuitive, the touch screen is spectacular and easy to use as a tablet, and there are a whole load of great new features including windows ink.

I had some reservations towards purchasing surface book, but after a month of using it, i regret i didn’t buy it sooner. Drawing with pen is delight, and actual performance astonishing.

Sleep of death – otherwise nice. . It stops responding after entering a sleep mode. Otherwise very nice and versatile tool – especially useful if you like handwriting. Microsoft surface pro 4 may be a better choice for most users.

Microsoft Surface Book 13.5 inch Touchscreen Laptop (Intel Core i7-6600U, 8 GB, 256 GB SSD, NVIDIA 1 GB Integrated Graphics, BT4/AC, Wi-Fi, Touch, Windows 10 Pro) – Silver : Expensive, classy, but dogged by the “sleep of death” bug. The surface book looks like a great piece of engineering and design, but does it live up to that impression?. This is the entry level model without the separate graphics card, but like the others in the range the display can be removed to use as a tablet. Microsoft says that the body is cut from magnesium alloy and it feels ‘rock solid’ in use (apart from the keys surround) or carrying it. The screen is a gem of clarity and, the touchscreen and touchpad work with precision once the installed windows 10 pro is updated to the windows 10 anniversary update and later thge creators update. Keys are nice in use particularly if you’re a touch-typist and, the level of backlight to the keys is adjustable. Even though bitlocker encryption is enabled by default, it’s quick and attaching an external ssd via the usb3. 0 ports provides seamless file transfer. Wi-fi is stated as mimo, but there is no guidance as to whether this is su-mimo or mu-mimo. With a wi-fi connection via a linksys ea9500 with bonded 5ghz channels, the surface book immediately picked up the fastest of the two 5ghz channels.

This has been reviewed to death, but i might as well add my two pennyworth. Obviously it does what you would expect any windows 10 computer to do and it does it well. It’s on the practicalities side that it falls short. The power connector is a joke and falls out at the slightest movement, as does the stylus with its “magnetic” stowage. In use you will be constantly hunting for both. The keyboard is difficult to remove and could cause [problems if, like me, you have dexterity difficulties. Not only does it not open out flat, but it has an extremely limited range of movement overall, and when using the keyboard the screen is invariably at the wrong angle. It is grossly overpriced and there are much better value devices available.

This is a truly excellent laptop/tablet in virtually every wayits without doubt the best looking laptop on the market. Its style is unto itself, with the magnesium construction and unique hinge just pure qualityits fast, compact and has one of the best screens of any pc. Push the detach button and you have a 13″ tablet that is remarkably thin and lightbattery life for the unit is around 10 hours and about 4 hours for the tablet on its own. The surface book would have got 5 stars if it wasn’t for the music speakers. They sound like something fron a £49 tablet and really let the quality of the laptop down.

A great all rounder – fast performance, long battery life, great screen, a comfortable keyboard & smooth trackpad. The refreshed surface book has very few flaws, with a well-crafted chassis, comfortable keyboard, vibrant screen, fast performance and even longer battery life than on the previous model. You are paying dearly for the privilege of owning it, and the relatively heavy weight and imbalanced weight distribution make it less portable than other lighter systems. What you accept in heft, though, you’ll make up for in both battery life and port selection. The new surface book is but a minor upgrade over the original, but that’s still enough to help it hold its rank as one of the best laptops available. Yes, there are some purpose-built notebooks that are still better at certain things: gaming pcs that are better at gaming, and ultra-portables that are better at. But taken as a whole, the surface book offers a remarkable all-around experience, ticking off not all, but many, boxes for many shoppers. That includes fast performance, premium design, long battery life, a great screen, a comfortable keyboard, a decent selection of ports and even a smooth trackpad. Yes, you will pay for the privilege of using it, but there also isn’t anything else quite like it.

A great computer, but can you justify the cost?. I think in life, you have to decide what you want a computer to do. Being honest, that’s the question you must ask yourself here. This is probably as powerful an all-in-one tablet-cum-computer that there is in the market. If your thing is computer aided design, or artistic or photographic presentations, and travel a fair bit for work, then you can justify this computer/laptop. If you’re mostly office based, i’m sure you can probably justify it too, if your work is design based. Otherwise i would recommend the surface pro 4. This is not meant to be critical of this computer. The pen is nimble, responsive, and accurate, the i7, 16gb specification is responsive and speedy, and the art functions are impressive.
