Lenovo Ideapad Z580 15 : Lovely machine Shame about Windows 8

I purchased this laptop after my last one collapsed after 4 years of use. I spent a lot of time looking over different laptops until i finally decided to get this one. The laptop itself is evidently wellmade – the keyboard is very easy to use (with the exception of the right hand shift key and enter button, which are quite a lot smaller than what i am generally used to). Nonetheless, i am loving typing with this keyboard, especially as the keys are hard and not made of that horrible squishy material that some laptops use. The touch pad is alright, though i am personally struggling with the ‘intelligent touch’ feature which is over responsive and results in me accidentally sweeping the pad, resulting in the screen flicking between programs (which i have actually done whilst typing this review). In addition it seems to be really easy to ‘touch click’ on things aswell, which has begun to get a little annoying. Nevertheless, i’d much prefer an over sensitive touch pad to one that doesn’t respond at allas far as the processor is concerned, the laptop runs well and i haven’t experienced any issues so far. Admittedly i did face the dreaded blue screen only 2 days after getting the laptop. However, this wasn’t actually the fault of the laptop itself, but the fault of avast antivirus which clashed with the sims 3 installer and the problem was solved after shutting down avast.

Bought for my daughter for college. Item turned up well packaged and was able to boot straight out of the box when i’ve used it noticed that its noticeably faster than my sons i5 hp laptop does everything we asked of it with ease. Here are the specifications for the Lenovo Ideapad Z580 15:

  • Enter your model number
    to make sure this fits.
  • BootShield maintains fast boot performance even after installing multiple applications
  • Lenovo Enhanced Experience 3 for Windows® 7 with RapidBoot lets you start 40% faster than a typical Windows 7 computer (Available on certified models with Intel® CoreTM i3, i5 or i7 processors)*
  • Dolby Home Theatre V4 audio enhancement & stereo speakers
  • AccuType keyboard with individual rounded keys for comfortable and accurate typing
  • OneKey® Theater II – one-touch audio-visual optimization for clearer, brighter images and richer audio

Let down by wireless sleep mode. This laptop would be perfect if it didn’t disconnect from the internet everytime i shut the lid and walk away for more than 30 seconds. It is not the settings, my husband looked, and i have too. It is fine one you restart it but a bit of a nuisance. Apart from that, very fast and works well, not keen on windows 8 but that’s another matter.

Great laptop shame about the promotion rebate. The laptop is exactly what i required, although windows 8 is pants. I tried to register the laptop for the promotional rebate of £75 but was told to wait 30 days. After 30 days i tried to register again only to find the promotion has been removed from the lenovo website. And so another internet shopping saga begins.

Great product at great price, when i get cashback. . Fast enough with large memory to suit all my needs. Some may find it too large for carrying around all day.

Lovely machine shame about windows 8. This is a really lovely build and i love the actual hardware but the unfortunate thing is it is loaded with windows 8 which is the most hateful operating system i have ever encountered. I am going to have to pay to get the awful thing taken off and windows 7 put on so i can bear to use it without finding myself on a new page by a move of the mouse to the wrong place. No complaints about the lap top only the operating system.

I opted for this lenovo as it had some good reviews from other users. It’s neat, quiet and i like the positive feel of the keys when typing. It’s fast and i’m hoping it will be just the thing when i start a degree course in october. I’m slowly getting to grips with windows 8 and like some of the features; i suppose it might be easier if you opted for a touchscreen laptop but i’m happy enough with using the touchpad.

Bought this to replace a gateway pc and have loved it from day one. Easy to set up, and operate on a day to day basis. Wireless is quick to hook up and performs well and the sound is also worth mentioning. I am a fan of the larger keyboard which helps me with my larger hands. Screen resolution seems great. The new windows operating system takes a bit of getting used to and it might be nice to have a short overview of how to get the best out of it, but that is but a small gripe verses a very capable laptop.

I bought an acer e1-572 after my old. I bought an acer e1-572 after my old acer laptop packed up. I didn’t like the touchpad of any of the laptops in pc world, and found all other makes had sharp badly designed casing. Though i thought it was the best …
