Lenovo ideapad 700 15 : Great laptop, except for the faulty graphics card driver

Works very well with win10 pro. . I was hesitant to use windows 10 on a non-touchscreen pc. I’m very happy with this (non-touch) laptop running win10pro (post-purchase upgrade). Even using a touch-screen remote client with ms remote desktop running on the laptop is a completely intuitive and easilly managed experience. Kudos to lenovo and microsoft.

Very capable, very fast, great value. Had this laptop for a few weeks now and am very impressed. I was initially concerned about the i5, favouring i7 for performance but having done some research it seems that most of the current crop of laptops in this price range ship with the i7-6500u which is in many ways a less capable processor being dual instead of quad core. My other concern before buying was the small ssd of 128gb, i use the fast drive for software and the os and store all my data on the big standard hdd, this seems to work well and it feels as quick to use as a full ssd machine. The laptop is mostly used for work in web design so it’s had a pretty good test running fairly demanding programs like photoshop & illustraor which it handles with ease. On the negative side the battery life isn’t great, you can get up to 4 hours if you’re not doing anything too taxing. It’s not as sexy looking as a lot of the ultra portables.

Great laptop, except for the faulty graphics card driver. It boots up quickly and can run games on the highest settings. For example, minecraft on the highest settings has no loss of framerate. The laptop also has a light-up keyboard, which is useful for typing in the dark. Another good point is there’s a slot for a solid state drive (ssd). Apparently an ssd can really speed up your computer. I found a 1 terabyte ssd for £300 and i’ll be installing that in the next few days. However, i did have a problem during the first month where i would get a blue screen of death (bsod) every couple of days. The bsod had an error code that said, ‘stop code: system service exception. Here are the specifications for the Lenovo ideapad 700 15:

One of the best value for money ‘desktop replacement’ laptops. . I got this laptop in a warehouse deal for. Looking for a relatively cheap ‘desktop replacement’ laptop can be quite difficult, due to the prevalence of either underpowered ultrabooks (aiming for long battery life and thin designs) or ‘gaming laptops’ (with high end mobile gpus, which are generally expensive and run hot). This falls in the middle and has a lot of great features:- mobile processor that is not throttled to reduce battery drain (with more than enough performance for most people)- backlit keyboard, decent trackpad, great loud speakers. – suprisingly thin and sleek for what it is. – has a gpu that can play basic games/modern games on very low settings, but this is definitely not a ‘gaming laptop’. – has both an ssd for os and a hdd for data. Some minor issues:- battery life is terrible (approx 3-4hrs), but that is the main compromise you make for a powerful laptop. – the battery can sometimes randomly drop to 10% for a few seconds, causing a prompt to show in windows. I considered returning it, as it may be a hardware problem, but it’s not really an issue for me as i will likely keep it plugged most of the time.

Check the specification on the reviews. I can’t see one review for this product i. I5 processor, all are amd or nearest is i7. I purchased mine from john lewis for £6995 and it included a 128 ssd and 3 years warranty over this spec. Dont rush out its now £8995 and two year warranty. I think amazon sell this for about £9995. I have found it a fantastic piece of kit. I use it mainly to photo editing inlightroom and ps elements. Just to be clear i havelenovo ideapad 700 15.

This review is from : Lenovo ideapad 700 15.6-Inch Notebook (Black) – (Intel Core i5-6300HQ 2.3 GHz, 12 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD, Windows 10, Nvidia GTX950M)

Just purchased it through wharehouse deals and so far im impressed not a scratch on it, also came with orginal packaging which is a bonus. A very fast and capable machine. However the plastic build is a fingerprint magnet but for the specs its a welcome compromise.

Really chuffed with this laptop. Extremely good value for money and does all i need it to do. I don’t do gaming, so can’t review for that purpose, but for all i do, it has exceeded my expectations.

Fantastic laptop if you take full advantage of its capabilities. . Date of purchase: 1 october 2016i purchased this laptop through amazon after extensive research since i was going to use it both for light gaming and engineering programs (solidworks etc. )if i could i would give it 4. 5 stars since it has some minor issues which i’m going to elaborate on later in the review. Pros:very decent display: i compared this screen to my girlfriend’s lenovo which has a tn panel and i noticed huge differences ,especially in viewing angles ,and a slight improvement in color accuracy. I would say the only negative aspect is that my eyes tend to get tired if the brightness is too high (compared to my desktop monitor) but i’m not sure if it’s a matter of settings, hardware or the fact that i sit too close to it for an extensive period of time. Excellent keyboard :i like how it feels and typing on it feels very natural. The backlight feature (2 modes) is fantastic and a huge plus if you are a person who enjoys working in dark environments like me. No drawback other than the fact that there is no “fn lock” key and i have to navigate to the settings every time but that’s really minor for the average consumer. Weight, dimensions and design.
