It’s so much better than hand grinding. My first one went the way of all flesh after about 5 years, so i was more than happy to buy the latest model. It’s so much better than hand grinding.
Good at its job, but can be temperamental. Bought this machine a couple of years ago and it has been in very regular use since. It does the grinding job well, and i find the fact that you can choose the degree of grind helpful in ensuring that you get just the right grind every time without having to judge how long to let it run. I use the beans in a gaggia machine to make espresso and cappucino. But it can be temperamental as both the lid and the plasic box that collects the ground coffee have to be absolutely fully engaged before it will work. I couldn’t make it work last night, tried changing the fuse etc etc and gave up and started to look online for a new machine. This morning, i had an inspiration and turned it upside down and found that over the months of use, some ground coffee had spilled over the edge of the bean hopper and down the side which was preventing a perfect contact when the lid was put on. Cleaned it out, and hey presto, we’re back in business.
- Great grinder, except for very coarse grinds
- Not perfect for espresso
- Great coffee grinder
Great grinder, except for very coarse grinds. This is a great grinder for fine and medium grind coffee. If you need a very coarse grind, for example for a cona, then it may not be quite coarse enough at its maximum setting. As a burr grinder, it gives an even, dust-free grind which is highly consistent. It’s relatively quick in operation, and doesn’t shake around too much. Which was a problem with our previous burr grinder. The controls are really easy. Within two minutes of getting it out of the box we had ground our first coffee. Grind is on the side, number of cups is on the front, you press the button and off it goes, provided that you have the top on. For safety reasons, if the top isn’t properly on, it does nothing.
A good all round inexpensive burr grinder. Bought to replace existing one which seemed to give up the ghost after about 6 years of fairly active use. Strangely started working again the day i received the new purchase. However the new one is noticeably sharper than the old so was probably due for replacement. You can buy the top grinder if you wish. The on/off switch is of bad design and failed on my old one and disappeared into the machine after about 12 months. This problem appears a lot on other reviews but i found that i could get by using the brush handle to turn on/off. I will treat the new one with a little more tlc.

Must stress the excellent service by krups who collected and delivered the said. Hadid not grind properly to suit espresso, was replaced by krups with same model ,which works perfectly. Obviously the first model was faulty which can happen. Must stress the excellent service by krups who collected and delivered the said items.
Good product, shame about the box. This was bought as a gift, and the recipient uses it regularly and loves the coffee it produces. The only downside was that it was not delivered in any extra packaging therefore the krups box came to me very tatty and also covered in delivery stickers with my name and address. This did mean that it was very difficult to give as a gift as i had to keep it in this box. Besten Krups Automatic Milk Frother + Krups Expert GVX231 Burr Coffee Grinder Bewertungen
