Makes a lovely coffee, however the carafe is not well designed for pouring.
Wake up and smell the coffee. I bought this as a replacement, and would recommend it to those who enjoy their coffee freshly ground and brewed and waiting for them in the morning. It makes from 4 to 12 cups which is in effect two to 6 mugs of coffee, it keeps hot for several hours and the last cup is as good as the first. The timer is also excellent when entertaining, programme it for the end of the meal and you don’t have to leave your guests whilst you make the coffee, just pick up the jug and pour. Although it comes with a charcoal filter which needs to be changed after 90 uses, it does still need to be descaled occasionally.
- A Coffee addicts must have!!
- Sturdy companion – outlived any previous one
- Wonderful machine.Coffee beans well ground, water temperature seems to be right, the carafe keeps the coffee hot
Ok coffee but some issues in use and heavy on the beans. This machine does pretty much what it claims to do, and coffee from beans or ground is fine. Not sure it is much better than a cafetiere. In it’s favour, it is reasonably quick, keeps coffee hot for a fair time (coffee made at breakfast time is still hot enough at lunchtime), and it has a 3 year guarantee. For a bean-to-cup machine it’s pretty cheap. Against it – it helps if you are deaf and switch off your hearing aid before grinding beans. The racket is certainly a conversation stopper. I see that others have doubts about it being a burr grinder – looks like a cheap blade to me, hence grounds rather coarse and you need to use more beans than you would expect. Don’t expect to compete with bean2cup machines from gaggia, etc. Big negative – it occasionally overflows and spills coffee onto your worktop.
I’ve had my machine for almost 18 months. It is without a doubt the best coffee i’ve ever made at home. My espresso machine and cafetiere are now relegated to the back of the cupboard. I make a 6-cup jug of coffee every morning using lavazza beans. Set to strong, strength is perfect and the flavour is fantastic. Coffee is hot – in fact at the end of my hour commute it’s sometimes still too hot to drink from my travel mug. I quickly rinse the various parts every evening and it’s good to go for the next morning, with a proper clean at weekends. Can’t recommend this machine highly enough.

Wonderful machine. Coffee beans well ground, water temperature seems to be right, the carafe keeps the coffee hot. Just had it for just over a year and so far, a good experience. Feed it good coffee beans and it will give you a great brew. Coffee beans well ground, water temperature seems to be right, the carafe keeps the coffee hot for a considerably long time. Waterwe add pre-filtered water into the machine, even though its got its own filter. We use filtered water for everything and our kettle is a testament that it works. Hardly ever needs to be cleaned and even then any scale is so minor you do it for routine than anything else. Each cup requires around 150ml of watercoffee amountsthe coffee ground amounts to around 1 heaped tablespoon, or 8gr per cup. Majority of the time we just not much more than what we are doing at that point.
You do need to clean it like any other bean to cup machine. In other reviews there is mention of pouring difficulties- its not that difficult, just tip the jug up and/or take the lid off to get the final coffee out (its not hard work). You do need to clean it like any other bean to cup machine, again its no problem, just a rinse, takes a minute. The jug is better than a glass one – its not going to break. I’d opt for this one over the cheaper one with the glass jug and hotplate. Haven’t used the timer so cant comment on that. Been in use for a couple of months now – hope it lasts.
