I needed to replace 2 failing fluorescent tubes in my kitchen light fitting and, as i had recently fitted a couple of led light bulbs in other areas of the house, i thought i would give these tubes a go. They cost far less to run and have a quoted life of a round 14 yearsfitting was a doddle, simply remove the old tubes, substitute the original starters with the ones supplied, fit the new tubes and switch on. The tubes are made up of a large number of individual led’s (around 300 i think) but you cannot see them as they are housed behind a frosted diffuser so the emitted light appears continuous. The remainder of the tube body forms a semi-circular reflector so no light is wasted upwards, the light is given out in an 120 degree arc. Firstly, as i have said, the light is given out through the diffuser window and the connecting pins lie in a horizontal plane to that window. On my light fitting the lamp holder pins are vertical which means the light is emitted to the sides instead of straight down. This does not cause too much of a problem as a proportion of the light is reflected off my white ceiling but because the tubes are effectively lying back to back in my fitting there is a dark strip in the centre of the fitting between the tubes.
Thanks to the tips from other reviewers about the starter and the plastic protectors. As a result of their feedback, this was a two minute job to replace the old tube with the new led tube. This light is fitted in a cellar and the light from the new tube is excellent. Bright clear and no flickering. Only fitted today so longevity yet to be tested.

Arrived in goood time in mint condition. Overall pleased with this product. The cool white colour precludes its use in a dmestic scrne but isideal for workshp use where contrast is enhanced. The instructions suffer from bad translation. Luckily, i am qualified in electrical engineering.
Just what i was looking for. . Really easy to install – remove the old tube and starter, put the new tube and starter in and you are done. Its bright and white compared to the old fluorescent tube.
The light from this product is really good, you do have to do a small amount of rewiring in the fitting to get it to work but not very dificult if you are happy working on electrics. I intend to buy more of them. Their real disadvantage is their price (hence 4 rather than 5 stars) and i hope they will come down as more people realise their advantages. Due to the cost of energy i have coverted nearly all my lighting over to led and belive it is the future of lighting. However be aware of some cheap products as they don’t give sufficent light. If you research your products correctly then they are great. This one gives a really good quanity of light and i belive the area is now brighter than with the old tube. The colour of the light is whiter. The old tube is a bit yellow light compaired to this new white light, but no one has commented on the different colour.
Auraglow Energy Saving 18w 4ft 1200mm Cool White, 6500k, 1800lm, T8 Fluorescent LED Tube Light, 36w EQV – Eight Pack : Auraglow 4ft striplight t8 led success. Arrived well packed and before stated delivery time. Instructions were clear and easy to follow. It was fitted and functioning within 15 minutes. The light is daylight white and well suited for use in the kitchen. The unit appears to be well constructed, and has worked well in the few weeks since it arrived. The only comment i have is about the protective covers fitted over the connecting pins at each end of the unit. A contrasting colour would help make the need for their removal more obvious.
