Right after two several years i am content, i use it with cyrus amp and stream flac data files saved on synology by means of sonos. I however owe cyrus cd participant and a few instances i set a cd there and kept on switching involving cd and flac – i could not convey to any variation amongst cd sound from cyrus and flac from audiolab in any way.

About sixty hours to burn up in and what a great dac, fantastic seem stage extracts each and every musical chord. It took about sixty several hours to burn off in and what a amazing dac, fantastic sound phase extracts just about every musical chord it truly is superb. I identified the bass punchy and heat. I was so pleased that i upgraded my aged speakers to wharfedale diamond 230’s yet a different amount up. The dac is feed by way of two optical back links one from a blue ray player and the other from a wise television then amplified by a valve amp 4 x el34 ‘s output stage. The dac arrived on time via amazon’s exceptional support also i spoke to audio lab the company about burning the device in they ended up incredibly valuable. To sum up it truly is worthy of every single penny and handles all audio documents bringing back a true heat exact stereo seem.

It is truly a high-quality piece of tools. I would say it would be quite tough if probable at all to find much better audio for this cost. The rate is not only for the audio good quality, but also for the assist we can get from john weslake himself (the product or service designer). As a reward we get a class a amp for the headphones.

This dac desires at minimum a week for the seem to settle in – straight out of the box, it can seem a tiny ‘thin’. Immediately after being run-in, its sound is astounding – magnificent imaging: deep as nicely as huge with some height to the soundstage. Bass is deep & nicely described, mids have good depth & the treble is extremely nicely outlined without being edgy. The seem is also quite ‘agile’ so transients are incredibly apparent. Even so, lousy recordings will sound inadequate – no edges are rounded off as with some stereo tools so this dac may perhaps very well expose failings in the relaxation of any system it is partnered with. The dac is perfectly manufactured, pretty significant with a quite sizeable exterior psu that has traveling prospects at each ends. It’s equipped with a modest & narrow ir remote – plastic with a tactile really feel but of fair good quality. This distant controls the volume digitally, selects from usb, two optical & 2 coax inputs. The dac has a very low jitter output & masterclock output – equally optical.

Extremely clear thorough audio, extremely versatile, can be use as a digital pre-amp. As other reviewers have famous it consider a few months to run in. Initially i most popular some of the smoother algorithms (e. G slow rolloff), but soon after a even though settled on the optimal transient location, which is breathtaking, i have never ever read so a lot emotion in recorded new music, specifically the vocals the place you can listen to each intake of breath. The other great feature is that you can take out the pre-amp from your procedure, further decreasing sounds and interference. Established up sourced from a squeezebox (usb for 192k audio) and optical feeds from chromecast, apple television set, virgin media & blu-ray (i had to purchase a optical four-input switcher box, as the mdac only has two optical ins). The ribbon tweeters in the check audio pl200s actually sing. Included -20db xlr attenuators to feed immediately into a musical fidelity m6prx. Five stars simply because it truly is amazing, but could be six/five() if they dumped the co-axial inputs in favour of much more opticals. Who utilizes co-ax electronic these days?.

Audiolab M-Dac Blk : I’ve had a cambridge audio dacmagic 2 for what must be 20 years and for what it cost it’s been brilliant. This audiolab m-dac is in another league. It’s fantastic in every way and worth every penny. I cant recommend it highly enough.

After 2 years i am happy, i use it with cyrus amp and stream flac files stored on synology via sonos. I still owe cyrus cd player and a few times i put a cd there and kept on switching between cd and flac – i could not tell any difference between cd sound from cyrus and flac from audiolab whatsoever.

Not a bad unit and you get a lot for your money. Not a bad unit and you get a lot for your money. It does however have an bright metallic edge to the sound which i personally couldn’t live with. It displayed this using numerous headphones including, hifiman he500, shure 1840, senheiser hd650 and phillips fidelio x1. Its from the dac side as it wasn’t lost when i used my icon audio headphone amp. I also ran it from a conditioned power point and power lead cable to no avail. Ended selling mine on ebay and getting a chord qute hd dac, which is in an completely different league and you can pick up for a similar price second hand. As an all in one unit it still represents good value though.

I have just recently bought a whole new stereo system. Bought a pair of keff ls50 speakers in graphite grey. A nad dac amp and a nad cd player. Also a lot of money on high quality speaker cable and leads. I have always liked music but this is the first time i have been able to push the boat out. I bought this based on reading many reviews. My amp has a built in dac which sounded amazing. How could it possibly sound better. The cd player i purchased was about £250 pounds, sounded good. With this audio dac it sounds amazing like a seriously expensive cd player. I have probably used the dac for around 18 hours. I have read it takes around the 60 hrs to get the best results. I have a deezer elite account which plays lossless music. A few years ago streaming music was not the best way of getting good sound. The sound streaming with this dac at 24bit is mind blowing. This is worth every penny i am glad i got the whole lot in one go. Enjoy the quality of the music from day one. I have found at the moment i like the spectrum filter. One thing i have learnt you pay for what you get.

I don’t expect you to buy such an expensive piece of equipment based on my review alone. You’ll probably read a lot of those online, and let me say it really is as good as they say. I did own a high-quality, external sound card before and i thought it was great. But this baby blew it out of the water. I was amazed by the amount of detail and – above all else – the quality of base response it produced. With the same headphones and speakers the bass was very much more detailed, got additional “texture” that otherwise used to be just a “punch”. And i don’t want to sound cliché, but with this device, i’m really re-discovering some of my favourite pieces of music.

Very transparent detailed sound, very flexible, can be use as a digital pre-amp. As other reviewers have noted it take a few weeks to run in. Initially i preferred some of the smoother algorithms (e. This dac will dramatically improve the sound quality of your system whether you use a cd player and a digital out or connect your computer through a usb cable. My portable system consists of a laptop, a 1 tb external hard drive on which is stored a large collection of classical music in flac (i have been slowly converting my personal cd collection into flac using eac) connected to the audiolab m-dac through a usb cable which in turn is connected to the focal xs book. The sound is breathtaking when played through foobar. I am listening to rachmaninov’s 3rd symphony with ashkenazy conducting the concertgebouw as i type this review. The audiolab m-dac has a neutral character and has great resolution and dynamics. I have connected it to my higher-end system and it sounds better than the dac in the marantz na 7004 though that is an excellent dac too. I unhesitatingly recommend this dac. It does however take some time to burn in so one must be patient.

It’s really a fine piece of equipment. I would say it would be very hard if possible at all to find better sound for this price. The rate is not only for the sound quality, but also for the support we can get from john weslake himself (the product designer). As a bonus we get a class a amp for the headphones.

Excellent dac/headphone amp. Bought this as a step up from a beresford 7520 (which was already very good). Used mainly in combination with sennheiser hd650s and is excellent. Sound is well rounded but with bags of detail.

It is simple to use, well built, looks nice. For the price, this is a great product. There are a few ‘could be betters’. . Sometimes, you don’t get sound through the usb until you have switched to another input and back again. It would be nice if you could configure the inputs with your own text or select from pre-entered text such as ‘pc’, ‘tv’, ‘media centre’ and so on.

However, poor recordings will sound poor – no edges are rounded off as with some stereo equipment so this dac may well reveal failings in the rest of any system it is partnered with. The dac is well made, quite heavy with a fairly substantial external psu that has flying leads at both ends. It’s supplied with a small & narrow ir remote – plastic with a tactile feel but of reasonable quality. This remote controls the volume digitally, selects from usb, 2 optical & 2 coax inputs. The dac has a low jitter output & masterclock output – both optical.
