I had ath 50’s before, so i have comparison between these two, and it’s quite often question if ath 70’s are worth extra. If you’re expecting great sound, with rich bass and treble, and you’ll like to use them mostly for music listening, gaming etc. , stay with 50’s, you won’t be disappointed. If you’re searching for very clean, flat sound, good for mixing (or/and for custom equalizer setups) ath-70’s are superior. Also the build is much better with more metal parts, but still far lighter than previous ones. They won’t fold like 50’s, but that folding part is the one that has broken for me after couple years, so i am happy with that. Overall audio technica make another fantastic product.

So, i got these for my birthday just over a week ago now and i thought i would weigh in with my thoughts on them. If like me you’ve done the homeworkand watched the unboxing videos on youtube you will be well aware of what’s in the box, let me tell you the carry case, pouch and cables are to my mind all of good quality as are my first impressions of the headphones themselves. Firstly i will talk about comfort. After wearing these headphones for about fourty minutes my jaw and ears became a little sore, which was not a good start but after trying them in different positions on my head i think i’ve found the most comfortable way of wearing them and i can now wear them for a lot longer than fourty minutes at a time. The build quality appears to be good, these things seem very robust. For the past two years i have been alternating between two sets of bose in ear phones, the qc20s and the soundtrue ultras. I used to use an ipod but i’ve recently purchased a sony walkman nw zx100 and a sony pha 1a portable amplifier, i think the sound is great with this set up but i felt i was missing out when i read some of the reviews on the m70x.

One of the best true sound headphones out there. Reproduces clean, clear, true sound as it was recorded in the studio. . I can’t complain about the sound from these headphones. They are crisp, clear and very detailed. However, if you like to listen to music that has a lot of lower mid range and bass notes, these may not accentuate the oomph and punch in the bass notes that you may want. So rnb, hip hop, most pop music will not sound as full as you’d get from the audio technica ath-m50x headphones (which i also have). If you listen to a lot of classical music and/or want to hear music recorded in every tiny nuance and detail, as if you were in the studio with recording the music with the artists/musicians present, then these headphones are spot on for that. The sound is probably the clearest i’ve heard of any headphones/earphones. I own a few mid to high end headphones/earphones and these are the most neutral, ‘true to audio as it was recorded’ sound that i’ve heard. My musical tastes are varied but i do end up using my other headphones more instead of these.

Excellent headphones, he is delighted with them. Requested by my husband as a birthday gift as he does the sound desk at our church. Excellent headphones, he is delighted with them.

Got a broken pair, the second totally made up for it. The product was exactly what i needed for music production, my old songs sound pretty bad on these headphones (i made them on the m50xs) so i know my beats are and vocals sound so much better now i can hear qll the flaws with these headphones. The first pair i received we’re detective and i had to buy another pair straight away, both packages turned up the next day after ordering them. Ive decided to still give 5 stars as the package was fully sealed and this clearly wasnt the sellers fault, ive been refunded. I did not speak to the seller bur i know he gets his packages off when theyre supposed to be sent.

Audio Technica ATH-M70X DJ Headphones : These live up to the reviews, i’m well impressed and would recommend to all who need monitor headphones.

Excellent for electronic keyboard. Having tried out sony mdr-1a (too much uncontrolled bass response around 100-200hz) and audio-technica ath-m50x (bass response better controlled but still too artificially boosted for my liking), i upped my budget and went for the m70x’s aware of the warnings that a flat frequency response can sound rather dull compared to what most people are used to. My main use for these headphones is listening to my electronic keyboard where it is important for me to hear each individual note as played. These headphones do the job perfectly, to such an extent that i now use the eq settings in the keyboard to fine tune the desired sound rather than try to force a decent sound out of it. The piano now actually sounds like a piano, etc. The inclusion of 3x different leads with the headphones is an added bonus.

Audio technical uk = appalling customer service. The product is good – as you would expect. So why the ‘average’ score?because the customer service from audio technica uk (leeds) is appallingi accidentally dropped them and they sustained some damage so i got in touch with the technical support team on wednesday 15th march in leeds to arrange to get them repaired. It is now 22nd march and despite making two phone calls to them i am still waiting for a ‘repair number’. I cannot return them without this number, even though they are not being repaired under warranty – i will be paying for the repair. Each time i’ve rung them they just say that it may take a ‘few days’ to issue me a number – even though i have asked them to prioritise it as i’m paying for the repair and need the headphones back urgently. It’s now been almost a week. I have now decided to take my business elsewhere.

Excellent studio monitoing headphones – comparison against ath-m50. I have been using the ath-m50’s for the past 6 years as studio monitoring headphones when producing music so this review is a direct comparison against those for that purpose. /i recently had the chance to listen to the m70x whilst in japan and after a few minutes listening through some of my tracks i was sold and grabbed a set immediately. 2 weeks later here is the review. . These are not m50s, they sound very different. The first most obvious is the bass, where the m50 has a tendency to boom a little bit, the m70x is much flatter. If you are using the headphones to listen to general music you will probably find this offputting at first. However for studio work this is fantastic news. The control and power of the bass on these headphones is extreme. Every note and layer of bass is reproduced with amazing subtlety and clarity. I am amazed at just how controlled these headphones are. Playing through extremely technical tracks like aphex twin the headphones really shows off the ability of these headphones. The next thing i noticed was the highs. Where i found the m50 could feel jarring and uncomfortable at times when pushed too hard the m70x shows no such problem.

Omg, these are very very impressive. . Opening them you will be impressed by their build quality and looks, i was. First listen, these blew me away. Bass that went low but didn’t boom, treble that shone and sung but didn’t grate. 0’s are now relegated just to aircraft duty. ( bluetooth and noise cancelling reasons). May never use my share se425’s again. The at’s for all other listening.

Very accurate sound reproduction, if you are into bassy headphones, these may not be the ones for you since they do not seem to add any bass on top of what has been original recorded. They are perfect for my everyday use (many hours) as they are comfortable and effective for fps / moba or just listening to music. You may need to get used to closed back headphones as with any other of this type as your own voice will be muffled compared to using open-back ones, but that is the only downside so far. Edit as of may 2016: the band seems to have detached from the right cup, such that there are two cracks and this means the ear isn’t covered properly. A crack is developing on the left side too unfortunately, see pics.

Easily the best flat headphones i have used. Easily the best flat headphones i have used. There lightweight and not too tight unlike the m50x. They look quite nice and the matt material doesn’t pick up finger prints too easily. Let my friend try them he said they had no bass and that they sounded cheap. About had a stroke when i told him they were more than £200. These are defiantly not the headphones for you if your looking for head shaking bass. They have a perfectly flat eq so the songs sound exactly as they were when they were released from the studio. It’s particularity good when watching videos and playing games because the eq makes it sound incredibly realistic. Great buy if you know what you’re geting.
