Best purchase i have made with a laptop the i3 processor makes it very quick, just the job.

Solid computer at a good price. I bought this as a warehouse deal; always a bit dodgy for something electronic, but it was fine. The hard drive showed that it had been used for about 30 hours (which is less than a week’s use for me), and i saved a third of the price. Notebook is solid, like every other asus product i’ve bought. Even at full price it is good, but upgrade to windows 10 as soon as you can.

Recommended in it’s day by computeractive magazine. Recommended in it’s day by computeractive magazine, so far it works fine. Good value for the price and pretty sturdily built, with a nice feel to the keyboard.

Bought this laptop around one month ago for £285 (nus discount), and from my own experience this is what i’ve found with the asus x555la (used for work and play)the good- keyboard: a breeze to touch type on. Only issue being the ‘right arrow’ key is inside the numerical keypad, making it difficult to find by touch- screen: for the price i paid, it’s absolutely fine. Goes bright enough with average viewing angles. Screen is reflective, but you get used to it. The screen bezels are relatively thin for the price paid. – touchpad: quite loud, but you will only notice it in quiet environments, overall however it is perfectly usable. (the whole touchpad acts as the button, something that i personally like)- sound quality: the aux has decent sound quality throughout the treble and bass. Built in speakers have some level of stereo separation, and avoids being tinny with some upper bass thrown in (however it is far from a room filling sound)- looks: (if you actually care about looks).

I am very pleased with my laptop, i have it for half of a year now and it works amazing, i use it to write and edit media content and it does it’s job very fast.

Asus X555LA 15.6-Inch Laptop Notebook (Intel Core i3-5005U 2 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD, DVDRW, Webcam, Integrated Graphics, Windows 8.1) : A decent laptop that will get the job done. While the laptop is perfectly functional in the end and does what it needs to do in terms of work for college there are a couple of issues that may arise in it’s lifetime. Firstly lets go over its good points, it’s not a hot laptop it stays really nice and cool throughout its operational time on it’s battery and extended operation while plugged into the mains, it is also very quiet the noisiest thing being the cd drive and the ports appear to be robust for day to day usage. This laptop has a standard hard disk drive so it is completely reasonable for the laptop to be fairly slow. There are quite a few negative points to the laptop however they are fairly minor, first off the screen is rather shiny this may be due to a protective layer however and it is still tolerable, while i was installing windows 10 onto the laptop there were issues with the track pad until i downloaded the software from the asus website. Lastly i have recently been getting issues with the battery not being detected properly, this indicates a hardware issue of some kind and it’s certainly interesting to see that according to the laptop there is no battery even though it is being powered by it. Even if the laptop battery no longer becomes usable due to a fault i will still hopefully get much use out of it by plugging the laptop into the mains i have even started to consider upgrading the laptop to an ssd to speed it up a bit which is an option available for this laptop. Overall an unremarkable laptop for the price which has a number of possible issues but still very usable.

I got this laptop for christmas in 2015 and if i wrote this review a couple of weeks ago i would have no complaints what so ever. I mainly use the laptop to play football manager but occasionally browse the internet, send emails etc. The laptop allows football manager to run smoothly which is no easy thing to do as it’s a huge file and requires a lot of power. So if like me you are wondering whether this laptop is powerful enough to run football manager (and similar games) then it absolutely is. The laptop has slowed down ever so slightly since i first got it but i think that’s fairly normal. For some reason the battery light turns from orange to white (to tell you when it’s charged) at 90% so when i first charged the laptop i thought it was at 100% so turned it off whereas it was actually only at around 95% meaning i didn’t get to fully charge it for its first charge. It’s also annoying because you never know when it’s fully charged, the white light will be on but that might just mean it’s on 95%. This happened in the last few days but the brightness has broke, the screen is as dim as it can’t be and i can’t turn it up, the brightness icon comes up on screen but doesn’t move up or down. I have tried updating the driver but it hasn’t worked.

Asus is the best brand for laptops. Had this for six months and the quality shines through.

Good speakers, decent build quality. Pros: good speakers, decent build quality, cons: quite slow, terrible battery life, only connects to the internet when it feels like it.

Loathe the keyboard and keypad. This was bought as a gift and i was thrilled to receive it. However, having used it for some time i absolutely loathe the keyboard and keypad. The keyboard is unsuitable for ladies with small hands as the keys are set wide apart and much bigger than on a conventional keyboard. Furthermore, the keypad is positioned where it interferes with anyone who learned to touch type and you find the cursor leaping about all over the place or even disappearing completely. Paragraphs get highlighted and deleted when you haven’t instructed it to do so and i generally hate using this keyboard. I have tried to disable the keypad without success and it is very tiring to try and type with splayed hands. The keypad and keyboard should be reversed with the keys at the bottom and the pad at the top, out of the way unless you want to use it (which i don’t as i have a wireless mouse). Whoever designed this needs to rethink it to make it more user friendly. It actually responds quickly but this advantage is outweighed by the difficulty of typing with it.

A great machine for the money. This is a really good laptop for the money. I have now purchased 2 of these for my children as they need them for college work. The unit is slim and well built and the display is clear and gives great colour and brightness. The full numeric keypad is also a welcome feature. The thing i like least is the mouse glide pad which doesn’t have “proper” left and right click buttons. Pressing on the lower left side of the pad gives you a left click. Pressing on the lower right side gives you a right click. But without looking down, it’s a bit ambiguous rather than having nice defined buttons that you can feel. The unit comes with windows 8.

Excellent product – great fidelity. Prossound quality is great, there’s better music with the similar price (e. Akg k451) but without the features of wireless and mic.
