Best purchase i have made with a laptop the i3 processor makes it very quick, just the job.
Solid computer at a good price. I bought this as a warehouse deal; always a bit dodgy for something electronic, but it was fine. The hard drive showed that it had been used for about 30 hours (which is less than a week’s use for me), and i saved a third of the price. Notebook is solid, like every other asus product i’ve bought. Even at full price it is good, but upgrade to windows 10 as soon as you can.

Recommended in it’s day by computeractive magazine. Recommended in it’s day by computeractive magazine, so far it works fine. Good value for the price and pretty sturdily built, with a nice feel to the keyboard.
Bought this laptop around one month ago for £285 (nus discount), and from my own experience this is what i’ve found with the asus x555la (used for work and play)the good- keyboard: a breeze to touch type on. Only issue being the ‘right arrow’ key is inside the numerical keypad, making it difficult to find by touch- screen: for the price i paid, it’s absolutely fine. Goes bright enough with average viewing angles. Screen is reflective, but you get used to it. The screen bezels are relatively thin for the price paid. – touchpad: quite loud, but you will only notice it in quiet environments, overall however it is perfectly usable. (the whole touchpad acts as the button, something that i personally like)- sound quality: the aux has decent sound quality throughout the treble and bass. Built in speakers have some level of stereo separation, and avoids being tinny with some upper bass thrown in (however it is far from a room filling sound)- looks: (if you actually care about looks).
I am very pleased with my laptop, i have it for half of a year now and it works amazing, i use it to write and edit media content and it does it’s job very fast.
Asus X555LA 15.6-Inch Laptop Notebook (Intel Core i3-5005U 2 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD, DVDRW, Webcam, Integrated Graphics, Windows 8.1) : A decent laptop that will get the job done. While the laptop is perfectly functional in the end and does what it needs to do in terms of work for college there are a couple of issues that may arise in it’s lifetime. Firstly lets go over its good points, it’s not a hot laptop it stays really nice and cool throughout its operational time on it’s battery and extended operation while plugged into the mains, it is also very quiet the noisiest thing being the cd drive and the ports appear to be robust for day to day usage. This laptop has a standard hard disk drive so it is completely reasonable for the laptop to be fairly slow. There are quite a few negative points to the laptop however they are fairly minor, first off the screen is rather shiny this may be due to a protective layer however and it is still tolerable, while i was installing windows 10 onto the laptop there were issues with the track pad until i downloaded the software from the asus website. Lastly i have recently been getting issues with the battery not being detected properly, this indicates a hardware issue of some kind and it’s certainly interesting to see that according to the laptop there is no battery even though it is being powered by it. Even if the laptop battery no longer becomes usable due to a fault i will still hopefully get much use out of it by plugging the laptop into the mains i have even started to consider upgrading the laptop to an ssd to speed it up a bit which is an option available for this laptop. Overall an unremarkable laptop for the price which has a number of possible issues but still very usable.
