ASUS N55SL 15, Good but Not as Fast as I Thought

Great little machine works fast on i5 processor however in todays world a memory of 8 gb would really suit the bill. The construction is robust,i use it as a desktop replacement so weight is not really an issue for me. The screen is sharp and clear and the bd disc player is great for watching movies. All in all i am very happy with the purchase.

Good but not as fast as i thought. Like the design and feel of the machine, and the keyboard layout is better than reviewed here. It seems quite well built but it is early days yet. Only concern is the initial set up, back up disks and then the windows software updates that have taken nearly 7 hrs to download due to low speed local lines. Processor speed is quick but not as quick as i would have thought an i7 machine would be. Nonetheless a good start as this machine will be worked hard during my working day and played hard at night. It will have to last 3 years at least like my samsung r711 did.

I’ve been through a few laptops in the 15′ range recently, and found them all lacking in one area or other. This asus has really won me over. So far it has been one of those pieces of technology that inspires feelings of respect and affection through it’s sheer reliability and consistent performance. It just hasn’t let me down, and every time i open it up it is a pleasure to work with something so fit for purpose. It is a little larger than some 15’s, and it is plastic all around, but the plastics are good quality and the ergonomics are just fantastic. I’ve had aluminum laptops with sharp, sleek lines that have destroyed my wrists, this on the other hand stays comfortable for hours of typing. The speakers are a standout victory, easily the best laptop speakers i have ever heard. The included subwoofer makes all the difference.

Best budget gaming machine. . Very nice all round laptop which plays the latest games very well. Cooling is also good as the vent is quite large on the side. The only issue about this machine for me is the hard rive is a little slow, maybe i’m being unfair as i’m used to a ssd machine.

Bang for the bucks, good audio, good screen, good preformance and battery life. The laptop seems sturdy and the casing is good quality. The little subwoofer is really cute as well.

Poor manufacture quality of what otherwise would have been a great laptop. I bought this laptop few years ago and been using it everyday for the past 3 years till it broke down few weeks ago. So now, let me tell you about all the pros and cons i have noticed through this years. Cons:- it’s built quite poorly. The cd-room didn’t work and 2 days after the delivery two keys just randomly popped out of the keyboard. After further investigation of the laptop i have also notices that few screws were missing. – it has problems with overheating. If you plan on playing some games on it it might be a good idea to invest in an cooling pad. Pros:- great for editing pictures on photoshop.

If you’re looking for a great laptop with a good price, this can be a choice for youcore i7 technology is a great advantage for this laptop and having an external subwoofer really improves the sound quality to great levels. Been using this model for almost a year and i’m still very please with it, many laptop models start to show flaws after some months of usage, but this one it’s still showing it’s strength.

I’ve had this desktop replacement (although it replaced a netbook)for several months now. I compared all of the laptops at the time on laptopchecker and other sites and this had the best specs for the price. The best part of it is the graphics chip. I play arma 2 at the highest settings with no lag. The keyboard requires a slightly higher wrist position otherwise you will make more errors while typing. However, once you get the hang of it it types really well. There are two gripes i have about this laptop. Firstly, the wi-fi connection sometimes drops after coming out of sleep mode. Whether this is an issue with the intel wireless-n 1030 adapter or some software issues i don’t know.

Very pleasantly surprised (quite impressed in fact). I decided it was time to go back to a laptop as i felt my custom-build desktop occupied far too much space. I had already decided to reconfigure my home network to a nas solution with medai streaming so masses of hdd space was not a massive issueand i felt the 750gb hdd on the n55sl was enoughit had to be fast enough as my desktop was an intel i7-2600k sandybridge with 16gb ram and multiple hdd’s. The screen had to be good as i use photoshop for editing digital images as i previously used a 24″ hd monitorso it had a lot to live up to. I read lots and lots of reviews and decided the n55sl-2019v was the one for menow, it was never going to be able to keep up with my desktop(unless i spent over £2k on a laptop) but it had to run the applicationsi wanted to use easily and without delay. It had to be able to run photoshop, ms office, nero, sony vegas video studio and i wanted a bluray drive too. I had a look at it at a local retailer and, after reading yet more reviews, i bought iti was not disappointed. It handles everything i throw at it with ease. I have paired it up with a 1tb wd passport drive(usb3. 0) and bought a quality laptop case(wenger swissgear cobalt) to protect it.

Generally pretty happy with the laptop. It is definitely meeting my expectations in terms of what i need. I have only a few gripes though: – i was at first unable to download skype because, as it turned out, the preinstalled version of nvidia wasn’t compatible with skype. Luckily others had discussed the problems in online discussion forums and i was able to download a new version of nvidia. – the keyboard took a while getting used to. The keys are large (my hands are small), and some of the keys are placed differently than usual. I still struggle to get my head around the location of the delete key. So after 3 weeks, i’m still getting used to the keyboard.

Lightning fast – whisper quiet. I’ve been using this laptop for a few months now, as a replacement for my old desktop. Boots fast, runs stable and cool. Handles all of my games just fine and can render video files extremely fast with it’s i7 processor and gt635m graphics card combo. For example, i can run grand theft auto iv, a notoriously difficult game for computers to handle, at a steady 40-60fps on high settings. When the laptop is under regular strain from browsing websites and the like, the fan is very quiet but keeps everything nice and cool. It only spins up when a demanding game needs the extra power or a large video is rendering and even then it’s not as loud as others. No complaints about the design, i have an external mouse and keyboard plugged in so i never have to use the touchpad or built in keyboard but they seem pretty standard. The speakers are amazing too, with the tiny extra subwoofer plugged in, it can rival some low to mid range wattage external pc speakers. The bluetooth comes in handy for using gamepads and the usb 3. 0 is great for external hard drives and memory sticks. Built-in webcam is decent quality with the ability to handle low-light scenes quite well. Blu-ray drive doesn’t support playing films due to an incompatibility with the nvidia drivers, but that’s an issue that’s being fixed for the next update.

I bought my machine in october 2011 after reading some positive reviews on other sites to replace fujitsu amilo pi 2515. I have dual boot windows 7 and ubuntu 12. I use photoshop cs5, lightroom and libre office quite heavily without any problems. The specs are: cpu: i7 2570qm, 640 gb hdd, 6gb ram, nvidia geforce gt555m 2gb. I am quite impressed with the machine. Its virtually noise-free compared to my old amilo 2515. Screen resolution is 1600×900.
