Finally laptop that doesn’t give me grief. At first i was nervous about buying a laptop online but this machine has been a life saver, its fast, powerful enough to run my software (i do alot of gaming, music editing and video editing) and it hasn’t failed me yet. I recommend this machine to anyone works a lot with various form of digital media.

I bought this for my son to replace an hp elitebook that was no longer keeping up with his gaming. As soon as it turned up i pulled out the 1tb drive included and put in a spare samsung 840 evo ssd drive to make this beast even faster. For anyone wishing to try this at home it needs a t5 torx screwdriver to remove the bottom. Compared to the laptop it replaced it does run quieter and cooler whilst having superb graphics performance. He is currently playing wow on the highest quality graphics settings and still getting a good frame rate. I personally use macbook pros and the build quality is not as great as those but still very good for the price range. The touch screen is a bit of a gimmick and not something that will be well used by us but it still works well. As with most gaming laptops it is not something you will be carrying around with you a lot, it is big and heavy compared to most laptops out there, but this is meant to be a desktop replacement that can be easily moved when needed. All-in-all an excellent gaming laptop.

Laptop is great but it was advertised on amazon website as an. Laptop is great but it was advertised on amazon website as an anti-glare screen. However this is not the case, it has a full gloss screen.

Only 1 real flaw, otherwise bargain for the price. Great laptop all round, fantastic processor, graphics card and display + 8gb is sufficient ram. Personally i love the aesthetic and build quality is solid, audio is great, subwoofer is a nice little extra. Would of been a 5 star rating except for a few niggling issues,1. Omg why- okay, i can’t emphasize this enough, points 2 and 3 are nothing, you don’t even have to read those. This is the only point that should affect your purchase decision and believe me it’s huge. This is the only legitimate reason to potentially not buy this laptop. This thing comes with a 5400 rpm hdd. . It bottlenecks the entire system and makes everything run slow. I can’t understand the reasoning behind this, sure it’s 1tb so thanks for all the storage, but it’s useless. If you’re spending this much on a laptop you probably want it to run buttery smooth, and it doesn’t. Not while this thing infests it, if you buy this laptop make sure to budget some money for an ssd of a suitable size for your needs, i’d recommend an evo from samsung, 840, 850 etc. Once you swap the drives this laptop sings.

Great but research a little first. Well, there are a few faults, but overall a generally awesome buyi’ve found that there are honestly so many perks of the laptop that it balances out with the bad. The bad:-slow hard drive – generally ruins the speed of everything, even though you have an i7 processor. -no backlighting – i didn’t even know that this laptop came with backlighting, yet my screensaver specifically says that backlighting keyboard is there, after doing a little research, i found that for an extra £50 or so, you can get the better version, one where you specifically have more ram, as well as other good features such as backlighting. -poor speaker placement – the speakers are placed at the very front of the laptop, meaning that if you are sitting with the laptop. Lap, then you cannot hear the thing you are trying to actually listen to. -easy to scratch material – whilst i write this, i have had the laptop for 2 weeks, and the front is completely ruined from scratches, it is no longer perfect as i had tried so hard to keep it. I keep it in a laptop case which is padded, and have never dropped it, yet there are still scratches. -external sub woofer – the bass is very low unless you carry along the portable subwoofer which is quite large, so doesn’t fit in my laptop bag.

With the specifications on it. The asus came sooner than expected. So far, working beautifully. With the specifications on it, i’m quite pumped to get back into playing online with my friends once again.

Great machine, great spec but not quite enough to make me sell my mac. This is a very professional and suave looking laptop and has a quality that oozes top of the line. The top cover is stylised with a brushed metal effect and is metal to the touch. The keyboard is well set out and comfortable and while the main keys are full size, this isn’t a full size keyboard with spacing so does take a little getting used to. The touchpad is a lot easier to use than most with the mouse movement working with ease but the mouse buttons can be a little tricker to hit right. That said i am used to a macbook pro mousepad which is a dream to use so my comparison is slightly biased even if true. The laptop itself is quite heavy but you are getting a lot of processing power and spec for what is inside so is to be expected. The power cable however isn’t a massive brick like you might expect and is a reasonable size which is nice if you would have to carry it to work or university. That said i see this as more a desktop replacement or for use in different rooms of the house rather than as a commuter laptop simply due to the core weight. The the b&o speakers are a nice touch subtly hinted in writing at the top of the base.

A long and hopefully detailed review follows so, sorry in advance i am reviewing the asus n550jk-cm604h laptop, just to confuse the issue asus has no more than 5 different n55* models and some sub variants too. After believe me a lot of looking and studying i have come to the conclusion the cm604h is the top model, here in the uk anyway, so to the review :case : the case is all metal with the top case being aluminium and the rest just a standard steel having said that the lid is a light grey colour and as with all the n55* the asus badge lights up when the laptop is on, the bottom case is black and does a passable job of hiding how thick the laptop is, there are no service doors – you need to remove the whole bottom case to upgrade the ram, hdd, dvd-rw or wi-fi card. The cpu and gpu are soldered to the motherboard so can not be changed. Screen : the screen is an ips full hd screen (1920 x 1080) with very vivid colours and pin sharp text and wide viewing angles, but it does reflect light like a goldfish bowl, the touch sensor is a full 10 touch unit and very responsive and accurate. Keyboard : the uk layout keyboard is not backlit (guess that’s the price we pay for daring to be different to the us ) the connector is on the motherboard so if you really need the backlit keyboard you could change it. The keys are well spaced and full size with good feed back, you need to press the space bar in the centre to make sure it reacts. Numeric keypad is good but the cursor keys are a little cramped. Trackpad : i love the trackpad on this laptop it’s the right size and very responsive and has lots of multi gestures but you will need to turn them on (or off) as by default only the basics are turned on, the left/right clicks are positive with a slight clicking sound. Sound : wow, where to start this is the main reason i got this laptop, and i am not disappointed at all yes it does make a huge difference what surface you place the laptop on i use mine on a solid wood table so the wood helps to resonate the sound.

Upgraded to win 10 and i am very satisfied with it you cannot take the battery out which. Upgraded to win 10 and i am very satisfied with ityou cannot take the battery out which i would like to do to change it with a charged one when i’m away, but it’s ok. Also, i didn’t like the idea of a touch screen laptop but after using it for a while, i find it very useful. I just had a few problems with sonicmaster (see picture 5), when connected didn’t start every time, but that can be a win error since it was solved with win 10 upgrade. The thing that i don’t like is that sometimes when it’s really quiet i can hear a tiny noise and it seems to come out of dvdrom. I can say it worth all the money since ableton live and other programs that i use works very smooth and i can also play great games on high details with no problem.

) and it has performed nothing short of brilliant. Just an amazingly well built laptop that i have found to be win10 and linux friendly. Dropped a 1tb ssd in it the day i got it (be aware the days of access hatches on laptops are long gone, hex screws too. ) and it has performed nothing short of brilliant.

Very nice laptop, well built with a beautiful finish. Fast, powerful and great sound quality. Just be careful you don’t get the lower resolution screen as there are 2 versions but amazon say they don’t have that one. Keyboard isn’t backlit but not a problem for me. Touchscreen is nice but not something i need with a keyboard and mouse anyway but overall a well designed and nicely finished powerful laptop which plays the latest games with ease.
