I’ve had my macbook for a couple of years now, so thought it was about time to write a review & share my experiences over that time. Design: beautifully designed brush chrome, very solid, looks great from any angle. It’s fairly heavy, so if you don’t need a cd/dvd drive then a macbook air might be a good option. Keypad: spongy back-lit keys are great to use, very easy to type on. I do a lot of writing and the keyboard has been just as good to use as my old stand alone one. Trackpad: this is one of the best features. Amazingly smooth, swift and intuitive to use. I only use the basic finger movements but this is enough to navigate the internet and computer apps/software really well. Software: comes with all the main apple apps.
There is a reason you hear of loads of people turning from windows to apple, but not too many doing the opposite. I recently bought a second hand macbook pro on a whim because i needed a new laptop and it was at a very reduced price. It is probably the best product i have ever bought. Even if i had to pay the full price it would still be worth it. I’ve always been dubious about apple products. I always stuck to walkmen’s because until someone brought me a nano for christmas and it turned out to be fantastic. I’ve had it for year and probably use it around 6-8 hours everyday. It’s been bashed around, left in bags, sat on etc. And it’s still going (touch wood).

Great notebook but no free upgrade to mountain lion. I think the macbook pro is a great machine but considering that apple promised a free upgrade to mountain lion for users who bought a macbook pro with os lion but would not honour this agreement i am returning the macbook to amazon. The reason apples update service refused the ugrade is because amazon do not put the part number or the serial number on the invoice of the macbook pro. The invoice has to be scanned or photographed and sent to apple to get the upgrade to mountain lion. Amazon have informed me they will try to correct this in the future. I loved the macbook pro but if apple are not willing to honour an agreement for a new customer then the new customer will have to say goodbye to apple. I will add that apple will honour the warranty but not the free upgrade to mountain lion.
Just as orderedlove the pc just have to get used to it after windowswish more people would deliver to spain.
Reviews from purchasers :
- Buy knowing you are getting more than just the lower price tag from this model over the newer Retina model!!!
- Good but for one relatively strange downgrade – beware which one you get
- Highly recommended
Very happy for the price i paid, but don’t pay list. I umm’d and ahh’d for ages trying to decide whether to go for this laptop or save up a bit longer and buy a retina. I wanted to compliment my main imac with a laptop-style device on which to run logic pro and garageband on the move, and which wasn’t scared of the odd word document or excel spreadsheet. I think i made the right choice. I’ve had it nearly a year and already i’ve upgraded the hdd to 256gb samsung ssd which has transformed its performance (wasn’t exactly sluggish to start with), plus i’ve upgraded the memory to 8gb. Let’s see you do that on a retina. I also love the fact it still has a superdrive, so i can play dvds and use it to rip cds to my lan-based server. If i’m being brutally critical, the 1200×800 display is starting to become a limitation on the most recent incarnations of the apps i bought it for, especially logic pro. Most apps these days seem to be built for upwards of 1440×900 and anything less results in a rather crowded workspace, requiring a fair bit of personalisation and closing unneeded panels to make use of the limited real-estate.
I knew it was time to upgrade from my old sony vaio, but was less sure of which laptop i was going to replace it with. I did look at dell, but my head was always turned as i would pass the local stormfront on the way to work. My choice was narrowed down to the macbook air and the pro. I could not justify the expense of the retina display pro. I weighed up the air’s thinness and apparent speed advantage, and went for the storage and drive of the pro. My childlike excitement waiting for the delivery was tempered slightly by the knowledge that i would have to spend the first hour or so upgrading from lion to mountain lion. How surprised was i when i booted up to find that, despite the product description, mountain lion was already the operating programme?. It only took a small update to be up and running. (as a caveat, this may not be the case with all sellers)i have spent the day getting the laptop exactly how i wanted, and it has not been a chore.
