I have been using apple products both professionally and personally for a number of years now, and decided to get this to replace my 13′ mac air. At first i was unsure about the screen size being a little too much, both in terms of screen estate (i’m a programmer) and portability. I finally decided to go for the 15. 4′ given that i wanted something that would last me a few years, and thought it a bit stupid to replace a 13′ with a 13′. Suffice to say, i wasn’t disappointed and i like it so much i’ve barely touched my 27′ imac. I’ve yet to find anything that it doesn’t fly through with ease, from image and video editing, to compiling complex software. I have managed to go an entire working day without using a power supply, but your mileage may vary depending on what you are using it for. The hardware itself is a powerhouse, in some respects overkill other than for the most demanding of tasks. What really stands out is the quality of the display, it’s simply stunning.
This computer is absaloutely amazing. Had it six months now and love. This computer is absaloutely amazing. Had it six months now and love everything about it. Just moved from windows which i have been with for the past 15 years. Every thing is so quick and painless. I will never go back to windows again. The old saying, you get what you pay for, and you do.
The laptop is wonderful and the graphics are absolutely superb. I had always assumed that the manner in which apple users praised their system and cursed microsoft was nothing but propaganda but i was worn down by the relentless tales and i finally switched. The stories are absolutely true. Yosemite is to windows 8 as a derby winner is to a donkey on the beach. The laptop is wonderful and the graphics are absolutely superb. It seems churlish to find any faults but the need for a large touchpad makes the keyboard less comfortable and leaving out the dvd drive to make it slimmer is plain daft – i have never been convinced by any form over function argument. Replaced my old macbook pro after 8 years of excellent service. You can always argue that it is overpriced; but quality has a price tag, and i see how my colleagues and friends go through windows laptops every couple of years.
Reviews from purchasers :

- Elegance, Simplicity & Beauty – The view of a FIRST time Mac user coming from a LIFETIME using Windows
First time mac user and loving it. I bought this laptop one month ago and absolutely love it. In terms of specs, it is a quad core, 15 inch retina display macbook pro with 256gb flash storage and 2,2 ghz processor. This is my first apple laptop, i have always been using windows computers but decided to take the plunge as it was recommended for a graphic design course i am doing. Designvery sleek and modern. Seems to be made from high quality material. It had the new force touch pad, which is quite nice. The best thing about it, in my opinion, is the retina screen, which is absolutely superb. It really makes life more beautiful. The sound quality is great and so is battery life. I can work on it for an entire day without needing to charge it. Functionalityvery fast and comes pre loaded with a lot of apps, including the apple equivalent of the microsoft office suite. It takes a while to get used to it if you are switching from windows but in my experience it’s quite an easy transition.
A thing of beauty is a joy forever. . My 1st mac and i absolutely love it. Set-up was easy, and once i had ran the tutorial, found the system easy to use. My reason for moving to mac, like others, was the fact that i was so fed-up of pc viruses. As previously mentioned by other reviewers, on this keyboard you have to use shift and 3 to get the £ symbol and the alt key and 2 to get the € symbol. Otherwise, there is no other difference with this us keyboard to a uk one. The laptop itself is of superb quality, absolutely beautiful. I would mention, however, i have fitted an anti-bacterial keyboard cover and have also fitted a great quality screen protector, both of which i think are awesome, and a brilliant addition for any laptop.
