It took me about 2 days before i could correctly use the trackpad, even at this time i thought it was overpriced and not worth it. Two weeks later and i cant live wothout it, [. ]

Style over substance – the macbook range is becoming less diverse. Prior to buying this macbook i had the 13. 3 white version from last year, which is a fantastic machine. I bought this new model however after selling my old macbook, given the new unibody might solve the problem of the previous plastic enclosure becoming a bit creaky and even bending. After about a month of using this new macbook, my thoughts are somewhat varied as to the value of apple’s new hardware these days. So firstly, lets get the negatives out the way:the price. Producing the new aluminium enclosure may benefit the environment and ‘precise’ details of the body, as well as strength benefits, but the milling-process to make the uni-body has just shot the production costs up. I remember steve jobs saying that ‘choice is good’. In this case, why can’t we buy the upgraded macbook without the enclosure?.Because if we want the old white macbook, it’s now more expensive.

On receipt of my new shiny mac i have to say that its an absolute delight. From the moment you open the box its simple clean and straight forward to start using. I have owned various laptops of varying brands all running some kind of microsoft software, and start to endure the long loading times and waiting, its a real bore. I decided to take the leap and move over to mac and i can honestly say i will not look back. Its fantastic to have all of the software pre installed, it even came with a fully charged battery, i had to install ilife09 but that took all of 2 minutes and again simple and easy to do. To be fair though i must report one problem i have had, after about 4 weeks the optical disc drive broke and wouldnt read discs and kept on spitting them out. I reported the problem over the phone to apple and after some initial over the phone diagnostic checks apple promptly told me where my nearest authorised dealer was and offered to replace not fix, the drive immediately. The service was speedy and second to none, living with the mac has been a joy, i have had no problems with software compatibility and i can connect all of my periferals no problems, i have purchased office for mac 09, but that is only because of work compatibilty, otherwise im sure that iwork would be absolutelly no probs, all in all im chuffed and wont ever buy a windows based laptop/desktop again.

As a pc user for years i cannot believe it has taken me so long to get my first mac. I have had it for four months now and i am still continually impressed by it. It’s simplicity to use is incredible and the operating system seems immense. Even my parents would look professional on one. I have a lot a photos and the macbook is a delight when sorting through them. I could go on all day about how good i think the macbook is. Of course there are flaws, (although i’ve only read about them and not encountered any) and the cost is higher than other brand, ‘better specced’ laptops. It’s a premium brand and it seems you’ve got to pay for it.

Unibody + led display + multi-touch + nvidia 9400m = expensive. Much has already been said about the new macbooks, so i thought i’d keep my review short and sweet, and write it as a list of pros and cons. Pros:- the unibody enclosure is rock solid. It doesn’t flex, warp or creak if you try to bend it or twist it- the silver appearance is the result of real aluminium, not plastic sprayed with metallic paint- the 13. Colours are clear and vivid, and whites are very bright and clean- the 13. 3′ led display doesn’t indent or ripple when touched- the multi-touch trackpad is about 4 times larger than the average. 7 cm- the multi-touch trackpad responds to about 6 different gestures, including pinching and rotating- the multi-touch trackpad doesn’t have any buttons, but you can still do physical left clicks and right clicks- the nvidia 9400m chip enables it to run google earth totally fluidly, without any fans kicking in- the nvidia 9400m chip enables it to play and scale 1920 x 1080 h. 264 video, totally fluidly and silently- the nvidia 9400m chip simultaneously supports an external display up to 2560 x 1600 pixels- the nvidia 9400m chip will be used as a second processor with snow leopard (summer 2009)- the internal hard drive is very accessible. Just flip the latch on the underside and it’s visible- the internal hard drive can be replaced with a 500gb 2. 5′ model for as little as £90- the line out socket is compatible with the iphone/ipod touch stereo headset with microphone- it starts up (to the desktop) in about 40 seconds, and shuts down in about 5 seconds- it supports 6gb of ram with leopard, and potentially 8gb of ram with snow leopard (summer 2009)- it comes with mac os x leopard pre-installedcons:- the starting price of £949 is too high for a ‘consumer’ laptop. £749 would be far more attractive- the 13. 3′ led display has a narrow vertical viewing angle, solarising easily with head movements- the 13.

Awesome, i wish i had never sold it. Purchased this from amazon in 2009 and sold it in 2012 for £100. That shows you how good this product is to depreciate in value by only £100. I sold mine because i purchased the top of the range mac pro with retina display. In away i now wish that i had not as my previous machine was more hard waring, it had a disk drive, and excellent software. I preferred snow leopard to the new lion software. It never broke down nor did it ever get a virus. Small enough to have on you lap with a good quality screen, still to rival most 2012 machines. If you want a macbook then buy this one as it is a perfect all round machine. Powerful, fast, excellent graphics, and very sturdy.

I’ve had this for 18 months and it’s still as good as new. After 15 years of pc use this has been a true delight to use over the past 18 months. It’s intuitive, simple and much more hard wearing than the equivalent pc. Yes it’s expensive, but it’s worth the cost many times over. Highly recommended (or the latest version is at least)plus you can get a student discount on apple’s website – so it then becomes reasonably affordable.

Although i have never owned a laptop before i’ve used a friends sony laptop of around the price and i must say it’s trumps that one. It might not be as powerful but it does feel faster. It takes about 30 seconds to load up and does everything easier and simpler than windows. It’s fantastic because it’s so easy to use and feels lovely to touch. Although it is pretty slow at first you can change the speed by going to settings to speed it up to a good enough speed. The case and screen are lovely too. The case looks and feels great to touch and the screen looks good to look at. Really the only downside is the lack of compatible programs – which is a pain because everything i send my teacher doesn’t work for her so i need to print it off – and then there’s the lack of games but this can be solved by using parallels but having to fork out £30 to use games is a bit of a pain. Overall i’d recommend it to everyone except the hardcore gamers but surely they’d use a desktop pc for that anyway.

Apple have set about to create the most wonderful machines on the market, though macbooks may be pricey they are worth it. Iv owned one now for 6 hours and it is clear these things are head an shoulders above anything else. Dispite the one i own being the standard 2ghz version there is nothing standard about it. The aluminum case is very strong and looks gorgeous. The glossy screen is not much of a problem unless its got a direct light source behind it and the only real downside to the older base model is the lack of a back lit keyboard. But seriously if you intend to get a laptop just for emailing and the internet, these things are more than capable of doing that. They come with a very handy selection of applications and nothing else you dont need. It has almost certainly the smoothest operating system(and in my opinion, not that it really matters, the best). People have stated before you should buy one without hesitation, i can only echo this.

If you are thinking of buying a laptop buy a mac i have a 2g macbook never had any bother with it and we have two more macs in the house and they are brill. They llok cool everyone always says how they look so good and they are so quick. Its obvious why the price is a little higher that pc’s coz the materials are better quality and while a pc may last 5 years a mac will last 8-10 at least. I dont think i could ever go back to pcs anytime i go on one of them i just think how neat and compact the mac is to the pc.

When i try and fight the mac corner against my pc friends, there is so much that places the mac software, hardware and quality so far above the pc, that i am usually lost as to where to startthe main things (ps. I’m keeping this short and sweet):- software runs seamlessly, all applications are fun and above all intuitive to use. – it never crashes or gets virus’s- even this macbook (2. 0ghz, 2gb ram) can run my heavy apps like logic and illustrator at very fast pace. Itunes, spotify, iplayer, iphoto, ichat are all accessible and easy to use. Basically, if you buy this macbook, it will last you a long time, it will be reliable, you will have fun while using it, and it probably won’t drive you mad. It is expensive compared to pc’s – granted – but in the long run it is probably worth it. To provide context, we have a 2001 imac, which still runs as good as new, and looks cutting edge (if a bit slow, but what do you expect)i love my macbook, it does everything i want at amazing speeds, looks incredible, emits quality and will probably stay with me for many many years. Unlike my mates pc laptop which he got for christmas last year and has already had to get a replacement.

This is the first mac i’ve had and i was worried about transferring from many years of using windows. There’s still a few things i need to work out but otherwise i absolutely love it. The bright backlit screen means i can work with it outside; the feel of it – from the aluminium body to the touch of the keys, the magnetic power cable so you can’t trip over it and smash the machine, iphoto which enables you to do clever things with your pictures, and many more. I hadn’t been sure about paying the extra to get a macbook – i’m glad i did.

Firstly i need to get this out in the open, i am a pc head, i have a high end pc for games and a laptop for work, i was gradually being forced away from my home pc by the kids and didn’t want to use the work laptop for surfing as it was a work laptop and didn’t want to be reminded of work every time i switched it on in the evening or at the weekend. So i had some choices to make, another laptop, a netbook or a macbook. Issues with a netbook were too limited and generally to small. Issues with a laptop, no real upgrade path and too much like worki went with the macbook, didn’t need high end but didn’t want low spec either, i appreciate the upgrade option was limited once bought but have just upgraded to 4gb memory for under £60 to give it a bit of a boost. All the other options didn’t really matter as i didn’t need them. Other advantages were the ilife software, it looked good and the iphoto face set up seemed like a good challenge and would work as a diversion from life/work. Amazon delivered nice and quick, and set up was a doddle, i imported all my photo’s and i tunes in under 2 hours from first switch on and have been playing quite happily since. Now the big questions,q, am i a mac/pc hatera, no, never had a problem with xp/vista or mac that wasn’t resolvable and they all workq, am i just attempting to justify the costa, no, but would probably would have had to if i had gone to a pro or a faster processorq, would i recommend ita, depends on what you want, if you want it for music, photo’s, surfing and general play yes. Heavy games play, probably not.

As a designer, i’ve worked on macs since 1989 (starting on the se doing pharmacy labels) and have followed the development of the industry favourite closely. I’ve been getting a new mac for the last 10 years, but never quite got there for one reason or another. However, i realised my dream eventually, and boy, am i glad i didget one.

Good looking, sleek and intuitive. I am not a mac-man, i am primarily a pc user. My wife is a devout mac’er and she bought this. What i like about mac’s is the fact you turn it on and it works, you import some music and it files it all for you in an orderly fashion. For the non-computer literate, macs are best. It’s still frustrating when you can’t get “under the hood” easily but the need to do this with technology these days reduces each day – although recovering mp3’s from my ipod back to the mac (we lost our old one due to a critical failure) is possibly too tricky for most people without extensive guides or pre-reading.

It’s excellent, truly so, (as indeed was my g4 ibook before it). Do believe the hype totally, and as an os, osx is so much better than the competition. The only downside is the 2ghz version doesn’t have a lit keyboard, but i can forgive that, given how bright the screen is.

Top notch, won’t be dissapointed. Can’t believe people are giving this a bad review just because its an ‘apple’ product.

I received my macbook four days ago, and it has been a pleasure to set up and use. It’s expensive but you get what you pay for. Particularly impressive is the operating system and bundled software – intuitive and easy to use. The system is fast, battery life good, build solid, screen spectacular, looks stunning and takes less than a minute from turning on to browsing the web. My other half was sceptical of paying this much for a laptop but is now completely won over.
