AKG K712PRO Reference Open-Back : Great headphones for classical

DJ Headphones
1

Acquired these for mixing on the go and they are just amazing. No excellent for plugging into your telephone as they want a little extra ability but truly get the job done high-quality straight out of a laptop jack and seriously properly on my focusrite 2i2 which is usb bus powered. Acquire a pair and rediscover tunes.

Great sound, quality lacking, terrible customer service from akg. . Great headphones but the clear plastic on the side which holds the headband has now snapped after 2 years use, the akg customer support for the uk is absolutely terrible.

Comfort and ease, detail and price tag powerful. Astounding headphone in particular for the value. A massive change and enhancement from the k240m2 (which i have) and will be getting a different pair. You hear what you are expecting. Do not know about the sennheiser or other competitors but equally myself and a different audio engineer were being blown absent by these headphones.

“Excellent Headphones., These headphones are quite simply fantastic! They seem to be getting even better every , but I think this are better”

Two times of listening now: had to swap streaming company to tidal hifi/masterthen lovely: comprehensive and smooth. My aloud listening is with genelec 8040s which are specific and fascinating. My peaceful listening is now worthwhile – and doesn’t annoy the family members. Initial port of get in touch with is vol seven of kraftwerk 3d the catalogue, which is streamed higher than cd quality and combined for headphones. (the meridian ex2 seems to be engaging).

I have owned the k602’s and still own the k702’s. These headphones take the clarity and naturalness to a new level. The increased bass response is very good without sounding bloated as other headphones (not akg) can. They have a more natural smooth mid and top end than the the k702’s. A slightly better resolution and narrower sound stage too.

Really don’t get me completely wrong the audio high quality of these cans is alright to great. They have first rate presentation and are quite analytical. I acquired these based mostly on the testimonials and it really is highlighted to me just how crucial it is to hear to different headphones just before you acquire. I would not put these in the bin if i was supplied them, but i would market on. Will not get me mistaken the audio high quality of these cans is ok to excellent. They have good presentation and are fairly analytical with it. On the other hand in my look at they are lifeless. It is really like a damp towel is laid above the speakers weighing the sound down. You can hear it all, they are distinct and offer you a excellent representation in all the frequency ranges but with that moist thrown on them. It is really also obvious the bass has been augmented.

These headphones are quite simply fantastic. They seem to be getting even better every. These headphones are quite simply fantastic. They seem to be getting even better every time i put them on, could be burn in, could be placebo, who knows?.All i do know is that they put a smile on my face and give me goosebumps. They’re that goodbass, mid, and treble all represented with such clarity and realism. These phones are definitely a bit special.

I was not happy with the build quality either. I was not happy with the build quality either: they used plastic on the headband.

They’re great and have excellent sound quality, but are too quiet without an accompanying headphone amp.

Comfort, detail and cost effective. Amazing headphone especially for the price. A massive difference and improvement from the k240m2 (which i have) and will be buying another pair. You hear what you are expecting. Don’t know about the sennheiser or other competitors but both myself and another audio engineer were blown away by these headphones.

These have a signature akg sound. Previously i’ve used the k550 and k701 and these are similar but the results are of a higher fidelity. They aren’t as comfortable as say a beyer dt990 and the build is also not as good. Sound wise they extremely detailed, neutral and the presentation is good. Don’t pair them up with motherboard audio, a soundblaster z or a fiio e10k you are wasting your hard earned cash. You’ll only see the quality paired with a dac like an smsl m6 or greater. If you think paying for these gets you other perks like comfort. They are light but many cheaper cans are more comfy.

Bought these for mixing on the go and they are just fantastic. No good for plugging into your phone as they need a little more power but actually work fine straight out of a laptop jack and really well on my focusrite 2i2 which is usb bus powered. Buy a pair and rediscover music.

But i think this are better. This cans beat anything sennheiser or audio technica has for this cost. I feel that headphones are equal to philips x2 for comfort and sound immersion, however this are better looking :].

A bit more refined than the 701. Compared to the k701, the 712 is a touch sweeter in the treble, a small amount more bass, a slightly smaller sound stage (but still very broad). I think i hear a tiny amount more detail in the mid range. All in all a bit more controlled when a large orchestra goes full throttle- then i find the 701 can sound a little strained and harsh at the treble end and a little less clear in the mid range when, say a mahler or wagner orchestra comes to a massive crescendo. The k712 is also a better all rounder than the k701, being adept at rock and pop music. The 712 is also less fatiguing for longer listens. For all the above reasons i think the 712, at its current price, is worth the extra money over the still very fine 701 (which is now a stone cold bargain if you want a highly detailed, neutral open ear head phone).

My son is delighted with these headphones. Exactly what he was hoping for.
These are very good headphones, but are now listed as discontinued on. These are very good headphones, but are now listed as discontinued on the akg site. Some are already being offered at over £600 on amazon. I prefer them to the q701 version that i also own, which has come into its own after a very long period of burn-in. These sounded good straight out of the box. In essence, they are good enough at everything and extremely comfortable. I have some on-ear grado ps500 headphones which i adore, but my ears are protesting after an hour. These akgs are just the thing for a long session of listening.

Amazing detailed music reproduction. The clarity of the sound is amazing. The soundstage is expansive and it has opened up my listening of familiar tracks. The large frequency range and precise unsullied reproduction of these headphones at this price point is remarkable. I also own grado rs1 and several high end sennheiser, and b&w p5s headphones and these akg rated very highly against them.

Out of the box they sound a bit harsh and clinical but rest assured they will mellow out and give a smoother overall performance. This happened for me about 100+ hours of listerning. These headphones however do need properly driving. Some people think that simply having the headphones going to a suitable volume means thry are being driven to there fullest. To tell the truth i thought the same until i started messing around with different amps. The ones i used are: dragonfly black, project headbox s and the arcam rhead, aswell as my iphone. When running from the phone the volume was ok but the overall presentation was bass light and “lacking”. (for the headbox and arcam rhead i have the feed coming from titanium hd sound card (£130)the dragon fly and the headbox s did a far better job of driving these headphones (both of which are around the £90 mark) there was a whole other layer of depth to the music. Which was greatthe rhead however did a superb job these headphones sounded fuller and far more enjoyable to listern to.

I had ath 50’s before, so i have comparison between these two, and it’s quite often question if ath 70’s are worth extra. If you’re expecting great sound, with rich bass and treble, and you’ll like to use them mostly for music listening, gaming etc. , stay with 50’s, you …
