Good build quality but setup is time consuming and complicated. The build quality seems excellent so the machine is definitely good value and spec (i3 w/6gb ram) should keep it going for 5 years but. If you have little experience with pc’s then upgrading to windows 8. 1 and setup in general is very awkward and extremely time consuming. Before you can upgrade to windows 8. 1 (which allows for a more traditional windows experience, which you need as it’s not a touchscreen laptop, and is free) you will need to carry out all the windows updates and there are a lot. That is assuming you can work it how to do that in the first place on windows 8. I bought this for my parents and i’m pretty certain they would have found it unusable had it just turned up at their house. As it is it took me 5 hours to do all the updates, upgrade to windows 8. 1, set up for a desktop experience remove all the junk software and install antivirus and office.
Day 2 – laptop for document/presentations and video making, as well as internet. After endless searching about different laptops and eyes crossing after a while, i chose this one because:* acer well known name. Company in top 3 of companies from a survey. * i wanted one that could be future proofed as software packages seem to need more processing power. I went for the ‘i5’ instead of ‘i3’. The reviews on the whole seemed good. The keyboard has a nice tappy sound and reaction when pressed, which i like. Comes with various apps which i switched of notification and took them off the screen. If i don’t end up using them, i’ll un install. It was quick to switch on and go through a set up wizard for e. It comes with a flyer with how to get to the start page, move between apps and turn it off. The track pad is easy to use and doesn’t get in the way when typing/it has various things like most other pcs like web cam. Also has 3 usb slots which can be handy.
Lovely matt finish to the laptop lovely curved laptop keyboardlaptop not very heavy a light strong tensile finish to the machinekeyboard large and spacious with island keys ie numeric padfan quiet i3 processor quite fastvery compatible with windows 8 and windows 8. 1 i upgraded to and didn’t take long at allspacious 6 gb memory 750 harddrive ample room for pics, documents , movies and musichd webcam top quality as expected from acerdvd player built in too3 usb portsdefinitely recommended.
This laptop is really light for its size, even though it has an optical drive and a 750gb drive. The screen is bright and responsive and does not suffer from much glare in bright light. The keyboard has a nice feel to it as the keys are responsive and give some tactile feedback from each press. The touchpad is also multi-touch, so be sure you want to put two or more fingers on it, you can also scroll via it. The bog mouse buttons don’t need too much pressure either. It has all the right sockets for usb, i think one is usb3, hdmi, sd card, etc. The battery life is about 4. 5 hours if you game or keep the screen at its brightest. I have had the battery last six straight hours with a mixture of email, surfing, video.
Powerful and portable laptop with good memory at a very affordabe price. . Bought this as an extra laptop for the family and everyone loves it. Fast, very portable with decent memory and looks good too. Windows 8 takes a bit of getting used to but i would highly recommend this laptop especially at this price.
Acer Aspire E1-570 15.6-inch Notebook (Intel Core i3 3217U 1.8GHz Processor, 6GB RAM, 750GB HDD, DVDSM DL, LAN, WLAN, Webcam, Integrated Graphics, Windows 8) : Windows 8/64bit out of the box. I ordered this from amazon after buying a new toshiba e1 c50d-a-10m (amd cheapo chips; 32 bit 15. 6-inch laptop, 4gb ram, 500gb hdd) from currys. It was a similar spec/price to this actual acer e1 530 (4gb ram 500gb hd 64 bit pentium dual core 1. However that was very poor in comparison. Poor build quality and problems with the wi-fi and set up with windows. It was quite slow (file transfers etc)and had a low quality screen. I took it back and took a chance on this, as i was not sure it was going to be 64bit.
